Making your own seeds

Pictures aren't the best, but you get the idea. They all smell fairly similar, kind of fruity yogurt smell. Mom beats them in frost (maybe) and smells the sweetest, Pheno 1 turned purple the others don't. Pheno 2 is foxtailing a bit the others didn't and it smells more sour milk yogurt side w/ a little sweetness.

pollen chucking i think there is no such thing as pollen chucking those words come from haters i believe that anyone can find a keeper, dam some good crosses fuck i wish you guys had extra's some dank ass bud for realz.. they look great!!
I agree completely. I was given some seeds by some friendly folks from upper Michigan and I ended up getting females and males which I bred and every single offspring has been just as good.

I always make seeds or try to. My method..... Let the male or males live in tent with the females for 3 weeks after light flip.

Take a branch with lots of balls on it and cut it off. Throw the rest of the male plant in trash. Take the cutting and put it in a glass or for me, a pop bottle of water so the end of the cutting is submerged. Put this cutting in a cupboard with small cfl light on 12/12 with the door closed and just enough room for the cord to get out.

Wait till the balls bust open (week or 2) and the yellow dust or pollen is released. Take a female from the tent and using a q-tip, scoop up pollen and wipe it on some of the lower buds. Each little bud should make 5 to 20 seeds. Larf buds are what I pollinate. You can mist the pollinated buds with water a few hours after to kill any remaining pollen if you are worried about that when returning the female to the tent.

The seeds will almost pop out of their calyx and be nice and striped and brown at full maturity.
Great tip thanks! It was my first time doing it.I had a male buddha tahoe from cali and gave it a try dusting my blue ox.I was amazed at how nice and fresh the sniped branches stayed in the water for that long.Worked great.Collected in test tube and used a paint brush.Hopefully i will get a few se-eds for testing.Nice!

I like studs. I'll never buy a fem. IMO male keepers are just as important as mums.

There's a passion about breeding and wanting the best. You start by taking the hottest chicks and hitting them with a certain special male. There're males that have much more vigor, preferable structure, and the smells as good as a lady pretty boy type. These males are IMO even more important than the hot chick.

Maybe I'm sexist...

I haven't popped many feminised seeds. Mostly just freebies that I've picked up along the way, and I grabbed a couple packs of Sugar Punch which only come in fem. I've never had a hermie issue with fems, and the plants have always turned out fine. No better or worse than the regs.

The reason I'm looking in to fems is that I may be moving to a place where growing weed is not legal, and I would have to drastically down size my operation and only be able to flower a couple plants at a time in a closet or something. I wouldn't have room to have a veg area and keep a bunch of mother plants. I have a nice collection of ladies in rotation right now and it would be nice if I could create some feminised seeds from them to be able to germinate a couple at a time in a smaller set up. I'm still going to do some traditional breeding with males, but having some fems as backup may come in handy if we move.

totally agree ,,the good breeders will stay around.. we need good stable genetics.. to make our crosses and new strains.. so i dont see anyone STOPPING the buying of breeder genetics.. but i do see alot of great shit from pollen chucking.. honestly.. i wont say im a breeder because i havent been doing it long enough to say i know enough to be a BREEDER.. but i do chuck pollen .. and CREATE AMAZING SHIT.. here. this cross is something i just tested.. flowering now.. just starting the flush..View attachment 3142970
ECSD x G13 Haze X OG18 x Skunk #1 (G) the G is just the letter for the seed.. thats just 1.. and its not even close to the best..

VERY NICE! ..... How much longer till seeds are ready, would u say. I have something close to that n I'm wondering when is best. Should I wait for seeds to turn dark or not? Thanks a bunch

Yes, I always finish the plant with ripe trichs and the seeds have more time to develop. The longer the better

There used to be a thread with tables and pheno data, way before the great worm attack. You can't just roll the dice and expect a Savant, most likely you will need some banjo music :))

i got about a half of a 30 gallon trashbag in a fridge.. full of crosses ive made. thousands of seeds.. and i just started popping a bunch of different crosses to see if anything was worth making or not.. so far.. some keepers. but its wierd. kuz id say 90% of the females ive found are AMAZING.. so im starting to stabalize a few strains.. not because of hermis.. but so that theres not so many phenotypes in the seeds.

Hers my Chernobyl clone that got pollinated from a stellar bag seed plant. Pretty sunny here with little rain this winter so I put it out early by fortunate mistake. It was flowering beautifully but I left on emergency for over month. Meanwhile seeds I planted were growing one male out of 8 plants. Needles to say all were dusted. I pulled the small budding plants and this one is left. Looks good IMO?

The real question is how long till seeds are fertile. Do I go off tricks or seed color.

@ oilmmilo: don't be silly, go off seed color bro!!! nice, brown, mature, good size, good to go!

I just took some males, and shook each one (one at a time) over a glass baking sheet. I collected the pollen with a credit card, and used a Q-Tip to brush the pollen over my selected plant. BlueBerry King x White Rhino (both Nirvana genetics) -- I can see seeds forming on my BlueBerry King mother, it's been a couple of weeks since pollination. I'm about to do this with several other strains... including a Bubblegum x Pineapple Express = Bubblegum Express, which I'm super excited about... Yea, it's "pollen chucking," but Yea, it totally works!

when i did mine i went about 2 weeks longer from when i was ready for harvest so they would be nice and plump some seeds pop out of the bract and might stay white but the good seeds are deep down in the budz
