hallo shopping for some new light as i need many and this lm281pro has been proposed to me by hortibloom wich is my fav at the moment i have light from hortibloom kingbrite hlg and mejiu.
lm281pro seems slighlty less effective but if they put more leds they can achieve same efficacy with slighty less cost, makes sense.
anyone has more info? i have searched but couldn't find more info

if i remember correctly lm301b has 220 lumen/watts so not that inferior, plus we were all sure that lm301b was the only goto leb them lummatek made that monster using other leds.
unfortunately cannot wait too much there are not many info specially on the pro version of the lm281

Depends how hard you were thinking about running the 301b/h compared to adding more 281 diodes? For instance, the old V2 Quantum board when released in 2018 was claiming less than 180 lumen/watt at 120w and is the most common wattage for these. To achieve over 200 lumens/watt you need to run them at less than 25w. 165 lumens/watt might be less than these figures but it might be cheaper to buy upfront and if you can save money on electricity over a couple of years it wouldn’t be difficult to swap them out as most boards and Samsung strips use the same screw pattern.
Personally I’d prefer to just buy the 301b/h and leave the upgrade even longer when tech moves forward, but not in everyone’s reach.

lm281b+ pro are 213lm/w: https://www.samsung.com/led/lighting/mid-power-leds/2835-leds/lm281b-plus-pro/

They are also 5w @ 2.7V while 301b's are 2W @ 3V

The margins are quite minimal between these two diodes, and as the above commenter states: better more 281's than less 301's.

The par test done by Migro on youtube also shows respectable par output on the test of hortiblooms Mega evo 720, at roughly 900-1000 in a 4x4 with good even coverage.

Not bad for not having any reds.

This is easily my most favorite 'alternative' light this year: https://hortibloom.com/collections/solux/products/solux-650-led-grow-light
It has reds and the par output is incredible for 650 watts. 50% more efficient than a 1000W hps.

Migro has a par test in a 5x5:
It's annoying that he does not test them with the lights spread out. Either way, this light crushes it with the lm281b+ pro diodes and the osrams.
