Light to space ratio?

I’ve used all manner of leds. i have a couple kinds xl1000 sitting around, black dog, lush and all sorts sitting around none have done anywhere near what cobs can achieve. They all generally work well during veg but you notice a marked difference when it comes to flower. Cobs and quantum boards are a big jump when it comes to flowering time.
@Lordhooha What is the difference between an LED panel and a quantum board? What would you call the LED array on my XML 150?
COB is very focused intense light - I get it. Great penetration without scorching.

The led panels that are in most burple lights are 3 watt epistar leds or some knock off of them. They consist of mainly a set spectrum in a certain range. That’s the reason they have the reds, whites and blues to attempt the recreate a balancenced spectrum. The quantum boards reproduce a more natural looking light within a certain range thus the reason it appears more natural to the eye as well. The same goes for cob lighting it mimicks a more natural light that more or less better used by the plant. As for your light I would have to guess it the same epistars or something close.

Biggest difference is what Lordhooha mentioned-current discrete diodes like a LM561c s6 the Quantum uses are ~30% more efficient at generating usable photons. That's why it makes sense to repurpose drivers and fans from an old blurple rig and either add some cobs or strips.

So I can expand my horizons to COBs and quantum boards but I want a fully assembled light. No soldering or putting things together...is there such an option and what would be best size for what I'm working with? Fuck price

What size of light would I want for a 21x21x28 space? Also, both links have mostly kits that require assembly. Do they sell these pre-assembled and certified? Not that I cant do it, just don't feel like it.

Would this be the size?

I can do some digging once I know what I'm looking for.
These guys have the kits and will assemble them for you and test them.

Check out the "Vander Life" lites onE-Bay.

I just go this one and haven't tried it yet. If the specs are correct that should work fine, but with only 28" height you'll need to LST or Scrog them. They also have lesser lights for less money.

They use 10 watt rated leds and only run them at 10% to keep the efficiency up. In your small cabinet a "600" watt might be better, the "1500 watt" might be too strong for your girls.

That doesn’t even look like 1500w, and if it’s only putting out ~400 micromols per square meter per second, I’ll bet it isn’t 1500w. It’s also made in China. And a blurple board. Avoid this like the plague unless you want to be known for your newbness.

Not trying to be a dick, but you’ll want to upgrade from that.

Haha, I am upgrading from that kind of light right now! so ignored it will be (not being a dick). But back to the Quantum Boards...are there any cheaper options for a 135W light? $210 assembled is bringing my whole project cost up quite a bit and I only plan on doing this once until the laws change around here.

..I was talking to the other guy? But sure, ignore me.

If you don’t want to invest in lights, you don’t want to grow. If you want to grow, don’t sweat the cost of the most vital part of it. I’m not in a legal area, either, but I want good bud, not to waste 3-5 months of my time. You’re going to want to invest in lights. Because that’s going to determine your yield and quality the most. If you sell, you can turn it over easily.

As I said I haven't had this light long enough to test it with buds. However from my Candle Power meter it hit's it's specs. The spectrum is pretty broad, with the "white" LEDS included and should cover 2'X2' pretty well at 12-18" from the canopy.

The QB's are said to work very well and this lamp has a similar layout with two drivers. Wall watts is supposed to be ~225-250 watts. I'll be posting my grow with it and we shall see. I'll be using it for a 2X 2.5 ft grow scrogged with about 8-12 Inches from the canopy. If I can get ~200 gms from it I'll be happy.

Dude, I’m not trying to shit on you, but it says, like, 385 PPFD at 16” in a square meter in full power bloom. That’s going to do next to nothing for you. Meanwhile, I’m getting about 1013 PPFD in 5sq.ft./~0.5sq.m. from 200w. These blurple boards exist simply to separate you from your money. Fancy spectrums using 12 bands of color is old news and unscientific. You only need a shade of daylight white. 3000k, 3500k. That Blurple Board is nothing comparable to a QB. QBs are QBs. This is a panel LED.

If you want to debate it realistically, show me the results of your “1500w” blurple panel, and I’ll show you ~250w of COB.

Also, Candle Power = Lux/Lumens = Light visible to the human eye. It doesn’t tell you anything. You need a PAR spectrometer to tell you the ability of a light to flower a plant. Or, you at least need to know what that PAR reading is.

You also are not getting 200g in a 2x2 with 200-250w of blurple board. MAYBE up to 2oz per long-vegged plant. Probably 1 large plant or two small-medium ones in that space.

Sorry brother I was responding to the post before yours suggesting I should ignore the eBay light recommendation (still no offense to that recommendation just looking for something solid)
