I'm responding to the poster in kind.

I'm not a very nice person to assholes. I'll let others try to reason with them. I think trying to do so is just falling into the troll's trap.

Regarding that story, yes, I've used it several times. It's no joke, it is an analogy that is meant to both explain and diminish.
It’s the first time I read the story and I enjoyed it. I expect I will enjoy reading it again too, if I’m not the asshole it’s meant to diminish. :)

Well...libertarians gonna libertaire.
Considering that small government is a libertarian idée fixe, and that the institutions of any left-of-center government are both extensive and expensive,

I’m having trouble with “left-leaning libertarian”. It sounds oxymoronic.

US libertarians are hard right who would have property rights given priority to human rights.

European libertarians are an entirely different thing. They hew to the "liberty" root of the word and they are most def leftist. In the US, the term was hijacked for propaganda purposes in the 1940's-50's. Koch money was involved and some conservative of the day even bragged about corrupting the term to fit Republican conservativism. Goldwater ran on the policy and failed to attract more than a handful of electoral college votes. Voters saw through the shabby disguise. It only worked in the South, where they want to have their small gubmint back.

If it's not Libertarian it's simply Fascist.

Libertarianism is well defined.

Nothing personal you're just wrong.
Says the person who believes he can recreate all human knowledge just by thinking about it.

I'm not saying you are just wrong but I'd start with that.

I do agree that the radical right aren't constrained by common English and just make up their own meanings to words. So it can mean something completely different from what it meant just a week ago which was different from what it meant a week before that.

Unsurprisingly, Russian culture has a metaphor for that kind of thinking.

I lived in Idaho for almost ten years. Moved away about 20 years ago. Loved the state. Loved the people. Hated the politics.

It was conservative when I lived there but nothing like it has become. Shortly after I moved there from CA for a job and for the adventure of it, the Idaho Republican controlled legislature passed a very restrictive abortion law. The then Democratic governor vetoed it. The next year became the first and last fully Democratic Party controlled legislature. The good conservative people of Idaho pilloried Republican lawmakers for stepping on their rights.

Now, it's completely different. They've gone so hard far right. I didn't know about that church but am not surprised.
