Libertarianism makes you stupid

They aren't mine though.

When you say, "your taxes", you really mean the tribute that some people impose on others under threat of violence for noncompliance right?

It's like when people say "we" to describe something they didn't actually participate in, because they've been led to believe they belong to a camp they've been assigned to and that the meanings of words can change if you just have the right titles to lord over a dumbed down populace.

Hey remember that time "we" bombed the shit out of those Viet Cong and raped their women? Or the time "we" made weed illegal and arrested all those people and put them in jail ? See how that works if you let them change the meanings of words ?

I’m not sure the word “we” applies for you and Americans

Yeah I didn’t need a novel. You bend the knee and whine like an edgelord.

My views are that human interactions are better when the participants are involved without anyone being coerced. Voluntary and consensual.
Yours are not.

You favor relationships where it's normalized that peaceful people must obey edicts of people who are not peaceful. You are indoctrinated and worship authority so much you lead with emotion, rather than intellect.

My views are that no person or group of people has /have the right to threaten or use offensive force (be the initiator of aggression) and that every person has the right to defend against initiatory aggression.

I don't make exceptions for magical government beings to be exempt from my morality. You do. Your ideas are based in using the same means as a rapist.

I don't say that to demean you or insult your intelligence, you don't need my help there. I say it because it's true. A rapist by definition is a violator of individual consent. Your method / favored system, is self evidently a violator of individual consent. You could try to deny that, but spare yourself the pain of looking inept.
You sound much closer to an anarchist, in the sense they use the word, than a libertarian. Free association and combination without coercion.

Libertarians are just weird shit, idk, for the past 15 years or so they, as a group, haven't been anything I would want to be associated with. It's a bunch of people using the same word to mean wildly different things. Libertarians, the group, have been driven by the economic folks for a long time. Idk, their liberty to not pay taxes or have environmental regulations isn't a hill I want to die on.

Edit: that aloha guy seems quite a bit closer to the modern definition of libertarians.

It's for garbage, water, sewer, police and fire..schools. Everyone chips in equally based upon tax rate and value of your home.

Rent if you don't wish to pay property taxes.

Governor Polis from the Great State of Colorado capped insulin cost on his own, as well as not charging tax on SS income and giving everyone $750 this tax year + more. Governors can do that kind of thing- work with the will of 'we the people' and what OUR needs are.

Maybe it's your Governor?

libertarians are anarchist with small private armies to make sure the anarchy only applies to others.

Given this thread, Polis is quite on point and comes up as a left leaning libertarian quite often. https://reason.com/podcast/2022/04/25/jared-polis-the-most-libertarian-governor-in-america/

I think he's just a pragmatist.

The share of revenue collected in USA has shifted dramatically in my lifetime from Corporate Taxes and taxes on the Wealthy to Everyday People.
Mostly because of pressure from the Far Right freaks like Grover Norquist.
The 2017 Billionaire tax cut increased taxes on everyone but them. There was a small cut the first year, then like an ARM..it adjusted up for the Everyday People.

lol. No offense taken. I can't work up that kind of feeling when the person who is speaking clearly does not know what they are talking about. Another story: During my freshman year in college, I volunteered as an aide for teacher working with special need kids. I heard one of the more backward kids call the teacher stupid. I had to suppress a laugh. You remind me of that kid.

There are two Nobel laureates who described your condition. Google: Dunning Kruger effect.
That's the 5th time I've heard that same, tired joke..if only we could be you.

In general, it takes time to learn political theatre..why be so smug? TEACH..You started somewhere too, my friend:hug:

I'm responding to the poster in kind.

I'm not a very nice person to assholes. I'll let others try to reason with them. I think trying to do so is just falling into the troll's trap.

Regarding that story, yes, I've used it several times. It's no joke, it is an analogy that is meant to both explain and diminish.
