So what are safe ppm levels for tap? I heard most are fine but just curious so I know, I'm guessing the lower the better quality but what's the max ppm for tap or any water that I can use in general that won't be harmful at all to the plant ? Would love to know since I will probably switch to tap my next grow instead of using crystal geyser gallons of water every week with weekly reservoir water replacement. It cost me like almost $150 by the time by regular fem Jack Herer seeds went from seed to smoke. I know I could've done it every 2 weeks but every week I heard is best. I was using UC roots for my hydrochlorous and SLF 100 for enzymes. Got great results. For water....I've always used tap water for soil and hydro. My current municipal supply tap comes out at around ph 8.4 and 200ppm. I ph down with ascorbic acid. I dont remember what it was when I was doing hydro in North OC CA.
I'm not sure where the safe threshold value is for ppm in tap water. At 200 ppm, mine is higher than the surrounding municipalities which all come in under 150ppm.So what are safe ppm levels for tap? Haven't bought a ppm stick or bluelabs pen for ppm yet. Will update and bump this thread with it one dayI'm not sure where the safe threshold value is for ppm in tap water. At 200 ppm, mine is higher than the surrounding municipalities which all come in under 150ppm.
What do you measure on your tap water?
Is that safe for plants ? That sounds like people trying to use cheap pool shock to keep dwc water reservoir sterile instead of paying for UC roots or hydroguard which is specifically designed for plants. I'm guessing that the ph down and up actually for growing and designed for plants must be different and safer in some way..I buy 1 lb containers of ascorbic acid powder from amazon for like $12, just a little bit will dechlorinate a bucket of water-you can just eyeball it, I use about 1/8 teaspoon for 5 gallons. For PH down you can buy bulk citric acid meant for canning-also on amazon, but you can buy it at anyplace that sells canning supplies, like walmart or hardware stores. You have to experiment with how much PH down you need, but my water is about 140 ppm and along with my Jack's nutrients, I use 1/4 teaspoon citric acid to bring 3 gallons of water down to 6.3-just to give you an idea. These are two of my favorite products, cheap bulk powders and both are great for plant growth beyond just dechlorination and PH down. Good luck!
What do the calcium stains look like ? I'm guessing your not using cal mag and just mag alone since it sounds like your tap has cal already in it and too much at that?My tap well unsoftened water is 237 and my ph 8.1
It works fine as is in Pro-mix and also in my aero cloner
No issues except excess calcium stains
