I don't think so. What size pot are you growing in? Fabric or plastic? Are you getting water to all areas of the pot, are you watering deep enough? What soil are you growing in?What I've noticed with all of my grows in soil, my Roots mainly stayed in the size of a saucer plate. My science tells
me? That I have my fertilizer schedule and brand, Advance Nutes. 3 + 1 is Right On Target because the roots do not need to grow because everything that they need is available to them right there in the first 8 in. Am I correct?
I would think measuring the plant would best be done above the roots. How do the leaves look, are you getting sizable yields? How about the plants height, node to node spacing? Roots are important but I don't think we can make definitive statements from them alone.
Try a different brand or no fertilizer and see. In that pic I posted I used very little inputs, just a little of this and that but basically just water. Grown in Ocean Forest.
