Bassist's now huh.

Entwistle was good no doubt, but I was never a huge fan of The Who where he started. Led Zepplin was cooler, but in my opinion he wasn't as obvious/loud as he was in The Who.

Have to agree with Flea, one of the most consistent bassist's out there, and fuck can he play!!

I really like Fieldy's style!

Cliff Burton (RIP)

Paul Gray (RIP) (Speaking of Slipknot, Joey Jordison, is easily one of the best drummer's out there aswell!!)

Robert Tijulo, purely because of the bands he's played/plays in. I don't think he is aaaaallllllll that but he's gotta be good after looking through his C.V!! Starting with Suicidal Tendencies!!! Hahaha that band was crazy.

I can't think of any others right now. I'm not so knowledgable of Bassist's

Hahahaha, I have been a fan for yeeeeears, and I always thought their style was fucking awesome, I guess not many of my mates really understood Tool the way I did, there were a couple, but none that would claim to be fans nowadays! I still listen to them on a daily basis on my way to class!

I think I did mention Adam Jones a couple posts back :P
10,000 Day's was a great album, a lot of political and media influence throughout the album, I guess it is their way of being with the times. The lyrics to Vicarious are just perfect!

Speaking of Tool, did you guy's ever get into A Perfect Circle?? I loved their albums "Mer de Noms" and "Thirteenth Step" they were really cool, but "Emotive" wasn't that great at all.
judith!! "My Black Madonna.....your lord your Christ...stick a spiteful spear into his side..." ahh yes Quite a perfect circle it is...perfect for dmt.....ahuh

Read these lyrics and tell me they aren't a perfect description of today's societal values, and depict the majorities attitude and numbness towards what is going on today. These guy's are thinkers!

"Vicarious"

Eye on the TV
'cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavour
It happens to be like;
Killed by the husband
Drowned by the ocean
Shot by his own son
She used the poison in his tea
And kissed him goodbye
That's my kind of story
It's no fun 'til someone dies

Don't look at me like
I am a monster
Frown out your one face
But with the other
Stare like a junkie
Into the TV
Stare like a zombie
While the mother
Holds her child
Watches him die
Hands to the sky crying
Why, oh why?
'cause I need to watch things die
From a distance

Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
You all need it too, don't lie

Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?

We won't give pause until the blood is flowing
Neither the brave nor bold
The writers of stories sold
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing

I need to watch things die
From a good safe distance

Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same so
Why can't we just admit it?

Blood like rain come down
Drawn on grave and ground

Part vampire
Part warrior
Carnivore and voyeur
Stare at the transmittal
Sing to the death rattle

La, la, la, la, la, la, la-lie

Credulous at best, your desire to believe in angels in the hearts of men.
Pull your head on out your hippy haze and give a listen.
Shouldn't have to say it all again.
The universe is hostile. so Impersonal. devour to survive.
So it is. So it's always been.

We all feed on tragedy
It's like blood to a vampire

Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I

Now, if we're talking favorites, I'd have to say that Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is mine, but as far as best guitarists, really it comes down to style. Some of the most amazing shredding I have ever seen is by Tommy Emmanuelle. If you wanna hear insane time changes, listen to some good jazz. I'm afraid the same people we have listening to ICP and Kottonmouth Kings are the same ones listening to TOOL and worshipping them for using math in their music. Not that I don't like TOOL. Lateralus is dope, but not groundbreaking.

No one has mentioned Martin Barre of Jethro Tull for outstanding guitarists...he is unique and has amazing chord arrangements bordering on genius and his solos well...

And Warren Hayes?

That's cool man, he must be strange, look at their clips man, and their lyrics. The dude has some pretty accurate theories about the world and its habbitants though. It's a different trip every time you watch the Parabola clip or the Stinkfist clip or any other of their numerous music vids.

As you kinda pointed out though these ICP folk have a different apreciation for Tool, and don't really represent Tool's fan base at all. I'm a light fan of Jazz, and Blue's Jazz, and I kind of agree with what you're saying. There aren't many bands out there like Tool though. And I don't really see any comparison.
It's an interesting theory none the less!

For sure! Cool man, by the way, do you know what the status is on them? I mean I hear about concert's and shit for the future. But are they still a "band" or have they split or on hiatus or what??!! Are they working on new material? I aven't heard anything for ages now!

Cheers bout the sig. It's a famous philosophical/psycology quote from Terry Josephson. I think it is perfect, and has a lot of meaning to it!

+ rep to you man, for being a fan of Tool and all!! Hehehe

I guess there isn't a typical fan type for any band, I was just trying to point out what you said, ICP have no idea what they're on about. Tool's music doesn't fit at all into their scene.
