Good catch, your math appears to be correct. That's something I'm sure theyd help you figure out if you called them up and asked, especially since they make the claim that theirs pull up to and over 2.5w per 3w chip. I saw someone running the bd220 here on riu, will have to fo back and look for it again
I'm also pretty sure nobody runs 3w LEDs at more than 1.75w which is the highest I've ever heard of (and I don't even know if it was true at the time), my 395w panel is 252 3w LEDs and the whole thing including the 6 fans is supposed to run 395w with each LED running 1.5w

Anyone know if the Spectra 180 is still back ordered? It says 34 units in stock but the description says it's gonna be 2-3 weeks. I've been calling for the past hour but getting no answer....

Damn 2x 290w is legit! 580w actual draw $1400! Did you name drop irishboy? He said you could line up a discount or free shipping or something

interesting note about CREE chips. Talking to Mike at GLH, he stated that Cree doesnt even make LED's with the proper wavelength for the plants. ill try to find the missing spectrum they do not carry.

And Colorado Love, they are all in stock (just talked to mike earlier this week). Tell him about irishboy's grows and youll get a discount.

That was the same impression i was under as well, but they are the ones making the claims, not me. I just said I'm intetested in their products. Any doubters should direct questions and comments to black dog as i assume theyd be more than happy to clear things up for you.

flipped through this thread and did not see any good pics of a led grow, i know leds are the future and people tell me in 3-4 years that will be the case..can someone post an actual finished plant that was dense and compact of strictly leds?

If I understand the situation correctly most GLH orders can be expected to take up to 2 weeks before shipping out to you, this is because they get many orders and have to wait for stuff to be shipped in. For whatever reason they decide to communicate this to people by saying they have a bunch in stock but there is a 2 week wait (it may be some issue with how the ordering system is set up for the website?). Often times you can get a unit cheaper and sooner because it was traded in for a newer or more powerful unit in the line and you can skip the 2 week wait. I've sent many dozens of emails to them since November and they almost never take more than 2-3 days to reply, longest was 5 once). I have no idea about getting a hold of them on the phone, I didn't even realize they did that. In a space 4x4 or larger I would go only spectra 180s (as many as reasonable), but my space was only 2.5ft x 2.5ft so I got a single 395w from the 1st gen of 2011 the ones they sell now I think are technically the 3rd).

PS: I really wish GLH would update their site, the pics are really out of date and show totally different tech than what the new lights use.

Check out the Irishboy grows on this site for starters, there were a ton over on 420 mag.com but I think they got banned/shutdown for talking about their bad experience with certain sponsors). I've definitely read at least 7 completed grows between 4 or 5 growers done with GLH Spectra LED panels and they were all at least as good as HID (most seemed better).

I think I am actually having issues with underestimating mine. I had it too close so the seedlings have put all their effort into growing new bit from every possible point all at once and 1 month old are about the size of 1 week HID plants because they have a ton of nodes that are barely mm apart. That was at 2 ft, I've backed my LED off to 3ft and am starting a single straight line LST for each plant to keep them as far from the light as possible LOL I have to figure out how to get close up pics with my cam (perhaps some trick with a magnifying glass?) so I can show you guys what I'm talking about. Of course this is just talk of veg, flowering is where it counts. I only had my LED available for all but the first week of 12/12 for my 8 week flowering trip (should have been 10), and the large pot plants were underfed.

But really look up the Irishboy grows here, he has done a bunch of great LED grows

dunit is another journal you should look at. Hes about to harvest an all LED grow that looks very nice.

I finally got ahold of Mike and hes supposed to send me an invoice for a Spectra 180 with free shipping, thank you irishboy. I asked him how long it would be til it could ship out and he said he'd do it tomorrow if I paid today, Wednesday at the very latest. If it can perform I'll be adding a second one and replacing my 600

i am going to interpret that as leds blow..are way over priced and are 3-4 years away from being a viable alternative. which is what i thought..too bad they are not here yet, would be great to have a light that gives off little heat and draws little amps and can produce.

Can we see some pics of your LED grow?

interpret that in 342 pages and 1,000's of posts in the thread titled"led growers unite" you are trying to send me searching somewhere else. i am skeptical..led manufacturers are slimy and try to mislead people..i would believe people before some bs grow pics posted by a led maker

Here you go. Someone gave me this link a few weeks ago. 108 grams of some quality looking buds with just 90 watts LED.

http://forum.grasscity.com/advanced-growing-techniques/378954-spectra-unit-90watt-led-grow-almost-done-whe-got-buds.html

Go to the 4th page, I think that's where he harvested.

thanks for the link, they look nice for 90 watts...still would not want to flower with leds..and too expensive to buy for just a veg light..but thanks

I got mine for $150, sure, I could have got a 400 watt HPS for the same price. And LEDs are expensive for some models.
But, they do work, for flowering and for veg. I prefer LED because it works for me. I am only trying to grow a little bit for
my personal use. That is why I chose a 90 watt. And it did not break my wallet.

Saying they "blow" is kinda harsh though. I take offence to that, and others probably do to. Basically you are bashing those
using LEDs, people spend time and money growing with LEDs. If you do not want to use LEDs, and think they "blow", you are
in the wrong thread. This is "LED Users Unite", this is where LED users, well, unite, and talk LED.

Anyways, peace, and good luck with whatever you are growing with.

Well if you need to be spoon fed......

Page 31 564 grams from a 600watt GLH LED courtesty of Irishboy

http://ledbudguy.com/showthread.php/1-Confined-Space-1020W-LED-24-Afgani-Kush/page15

1111.4 grams from 720 watts of actual draw (1020 advertised wattage hence the title). It's not cured but even allowing for another 10% drop in weight (not likely curing dry bud) still gonna be 2.25 pounds. 24 sq ft. 6-ISIS 170's

Just to put that in perspective, to match that would require a yield of OVER 3 POUNDS FROM A 1000 WATT HID. Oh yeah and he grew in Promix....not even hydro.

Then there's my own. 327 grams from 360 watts the first time which I kinda screwed up.
https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/386508-hempstar-3-stage-led-grow.html

Current one is still under 360 watts actual draw (2 Magnum LED's) over a 4x4 area. 10 days to go and there's already over a pound and gonna guess I hit 18-20 oz's and I been at this a while and know what I'm looking at. Already good sized buds and rock hard.
