Your new blackstar panel what years model is it mine is for 2011 and its not even 2011 yet so im pretty sure i got the newest one out there. I mean gotham is not even advertising the 2011 models anymore right now i think they are trying to dump the 2010's

In one of the kessil presentations i viewed on youtube, I remember the speaker saying that they also use off spectrums in small amounts to give the plant trace elements of light.
Read this and watch the video to understand how Kessil gets so much bang out of so few watts. They will rock your world.

People seem to think they need more oomph than they really do with the new LED tech. I blame it on the the nightmare of old tech LED.

Damn, he'll be able to grow a bloody forest.

Sooooo I ended up giving Lighthouse Hydro a call today and I must say they do seem pretty official. I was kinda skeptical of the company at first but after spending over 15 minutes on the phone with one of their reps I feel like I know a little bit more about led's than I did when I woke up this morning. I even went ahead and asked him about the 12000k bulb and it was a deep blue at 445nm which is required by the plant. Looks like i may be picking up a blackstar 240w after all.

This thread intrigues me. I was planning on growing about 4 plants at a time. I had made some purchases but never got around to my grow. I was not keen on requiring cooling for my grow. I had read about LEDs but the consensus was they were expensive and don't get the job done as well. But hell, I spent a pretty penny on my (used) reflector. Bulbs, ballasts, electricity costs.

So that's not true anymore, right?

So for a 4-plant grow what lights should I get for veg/flowering? Should I have to worry about cooling at all? And I don't have to worry about light-proximity burning the plants or anything like that, right?

Sorry this thread is monolithic and I'm looking for a quick fix as far as advice goes.

That one is predominantly blue, for veg. The panels look ok, I haven't seen this co. before. The only thing I don't like is no mention of who's LEDs they use.

You live in the UK? Free delivery, but they only sell there.

If you are in the UK, consider this guy's light. It has a lot going for it.

If I were you, I'd contact him and discuss LEDs. He seems like a good guy to me.

After researching yesterday im so tempted to go with LED all the way. Theres a guy on ebay i was recommended who seems very honest about LED, i asked him for just a veg light and this is what he said, very honest answer which makes me think he wont try and blag me

In all honesty:
1)If its just for vegging, use flourescents, even normal household cf lights will work ok, use daylight ones (not warm light or white light) or buy the proper 125/250 watt compact grow ones from a grow shop.
2) Dont buy any led lights except mine, they are all crap. To cover 1 m2 with my lights costs £600 (for flowering, £400 for vegging), a UFO is what £150 (and a ripoff at that price). You need 210 watts of GOOD leds per m2 for flowering and about 140 watts for vegging. a 135 watt UFO is about enough for 1 plant - maybe. One of my 70 watt lights puts out WAY more light than a 135 watt ufo, because the leds are the best you can get and are about 3 times as efficient. PLEASE dsont waste your money on UFO's or any of the other led lights on ebay. There are 3 decent led lights, Lightblaze, Procyon and mine (and the others are 110 volts only and not as good as mine!). Thats it! For vegging stick to flourescents, any led light worth buying is too expensive to use just for that, only if you plan on flowering as well is it really worth it OR if you have a very restricted space like a cupboard and even flourescents give of too much heat.
Probably not what you wanted to hear but honest (and good) advice! You can also buy good cheap 2 or 4 flourescent TUBE fittings at a diy shop and buy standard (or special ones for vegging)tube flourescents which may well be cheaper. BUT you cant use flourescents with a timer without a relay box or you will kill the timer pretty quick.

Im so so tempted, its not so much the cost its the fact i dont want to buy one and end up dissapointed then switch back to HPS.

If i can be convinced i can get as good a yeild with as good a quaility bud in the same time as i would with HPS id be willing to try LED in both my veg and flowering cabs.

Looks good mate. Ill see what this ebay bloke says, i dont mind spending 600 on a decent light AS LONG as i can get get the same results as a 600 way HPS.

I trust this bloke he could have easily blagged me and said he would do me a veg light but he did say it was cheaper to go CFL.

Was that the UK guy from the link I posted?

Procyon and Lightblaze look good to me too, but if he didn't mention Kessil, he left out the most cutting-edge tech out there.

The Lightblaze has a dial on it, otherwise it is very similar to Procyon, just less rectangular in profile.

Also, you can veg with Sunshine systems blue GrowSpots, and avoid the mercury hazard of cfl.

Yes dude it was the guy you recommended, he seems honest and also seems to be very clued up and not just after a quick buck so to speak.

I may go with one of his veg lights and one of his flower lights, £1000 total for the 2. Both will cover 1mtr sq. I just waiting to get the exact specs off him then i will post them and see what you think.

Here are my Pineapple express grown under 1 120W Quad band LEDs. 12/12 from seed.

Planted mid October. I expect them to be done before Jan 1st. (Hoping to have a taste on New Years eve. What do you think? Will they be ready?)
Took these this morning.

Loving the LED. No heat, low low cost..etc.....

Most importantly, great buds! (Still cannot believe the LED bashers out there; they buy a shitty LED light and pay the price. Then go on to state that LED's are no good for flowering.. )

You tell me.

Jesus man not exactly balanced and informative - all they bang on about is how poor other lights are not what theirs do

i wanna know the facts b4 i invest

also i read that with LEDs its not about the lumines but some other measurement of light
who to believe!!!?

GrowFlux
(I've not been able to find the light online, so I've since emailed them asking about where to find my Quad Band LED)

I'll post a link to the product ASAP.

Krozone if the trichs don't look close on Christmas just cherry pick some popcorns to have dry and ready for new years eve. Have your cake and eat it too. Almost never a reason to harvest before a healthy plant is ripe.

Man, he sure raised his prices. His original light was 199 quid, plus shipping. I'd just use those throughout the grow.

Well he still does cheaper ones like 70watt etc but he said for a 1mtr square area for flowering i will need at least 210w off top quality LED so this increases the price.

He seems honest and doesnt make stupid claims which i like.

I just looked again at his spec for the 70watt light and it says

8 Red 640 Nm 3 watt leds
* 8 Hyper Red 660 Nm 3 watt leds
* 5 Cree XR-E Warm White 3 Watt leds
* 2 Blue 460 Nm 3 watt leds
* 3 Royal Blue 440 Nm 3 watt led

He does a vegging light suitable for my cab aswell for £400.

I know nothing about LED's so does that spec look good? Obvioulsy mine wil have more.

There are so many options but if i am going to go LED throughout i want to do it properly and not sacrifice yeild or quality because of cheap ineffective light.

These ones are supposed to be really good but there expensive and i cant find them being offered in the UK. http://www.planetnatural.com/site/led-grow-light.html

This Ebay guy even said to buy just one light first and see how i like it so he must be confident else he would just try and talk me into to buying loads and ripping me off.
