if that's the case, htg is selling cidly stuff too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-led-grow-light-5-band-280w-3-watt-agromax-pro-lamp-280-hydroponic-500-w-3w-/120812604674?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo=lvi&itu=uci&otn=5&po=lvi&ps=63&clkid=4246501458720648848#ht_6718wt_1396

i've ordered from cidly before, and they do charge a shit-ton for shipping, and they do charge extra for things such as 380nm, 410nm and 730nm, then depending which name brand diodes you use that'll add to the price too. My light was only $145, but with shipping and the extra charges for some diodes it was $275 by the time i got it. It was practically the same as the blackstar 240. 80x3w, black case.

As for the fero led, all that is, is the same case as you'll see on many new leds this year and next year. Fero's is not even from cidly, it is a different chinese manufacturer. The case is probably made at the same place, or bought from a place that rips off whoever actually designed it...
$720 htg? What a dirty joke

No offence here guys but, fero leds are nothing but the apollo lights at cidly.com ? Some taiwan manufacture?
if you look at the pages, you can customize the case and all colors? and can customize the spectrum?
but for example, fero 360 4G series are $453.99
cidly, on the other hand sells the same apollo 8 at $262

MORE THAN DOUBLE THE PRICE? THAT FERO MUST BE JOKING
THE THING IS MOST LED IMPORTER COMPANIES DO EXACTLY THE SAME

OPEN YOUR EYES FOLKS!!!!
(not your fault, this led industry is a tricky one, it's newish)
Jubiaire, you have to stop spreading false rumors. FERO does not get their light from cidly, you can call cidly and find out for yourself... They have the same mold but the inner parts are very different. Many company are currently using those mold from what I can see online.

Here's what FERO has to say:

I know exactly where Magnum and most other LED brands get there lights from....I deal with some of the same suppliers they do.

Also the light on Cidly is a basic mode 3 spectrums I think with red and blue light. Im not sure what drivers or chips they use? plus the cost of shipping and duty. I really think we have priced our products at a fair price to everyone else selling on the market without going to a lower quality product. Give it some time and you will see the good quality products stay and the bad quality products die off.

Even in our LED Spot lights we use Cree chip the number one chip made in the USA. we could use Edison a lower quality chip and sell our products for about $10 cheaper (spot lights) but we don't and we still beat Philips prices by a lot. Philips doesn't even use Cree chip.....

So far, all of my LED lights are the same, I do not have an opinion on any of them yet... I will let some time for the lights to prove themselves. One thing I won't do is go out and say that one brand is crap without trying it.

FERO doesn't use any CREE chips...

Hey xxxxx,

"No, we do not use Cree LED. Cree LED does not produce a chip with the spectrums required to grow medical cannabis. If they did then we would use Cree so the next best thing is bridgelux. Also Cree is very expensive so the price of the light would increase."

Nice thread... props!

Makes sense CHINA does manufacture most of the LED grow lights on the market (along with everything else), then a distributor/vendor sell each unit for double what they got it for. Welcome to the world of capitalism where greed ranks supreme! Jubiare has a good point nonetheless, the consumer is getting their eyes gouged... LOL. Years ago, a 300W LED panel, using only (298.) 1watt diodes, costed around $500; nowadays same amount gets you a 500w Blackstar that uses 3watt diodes! Anyways what I'm trying to get at is that "the cutting edge" costs money. Learn this lesson the costly way and "invest" now or wait a few more years and get your money worth, that is, if the almighty USD is still worth something then....

Click and see the price to be on the cutting edge...

That's bullshit, my lights are all cree diodes and were cheaper than the Fero lights. 47 days from seed, autoflower - cha fucking ching.

I've used a lot of different brand led lights and can honestly say that if you have true 3w chipsets in a variety of spectrum known to aid photosynthesis in veg and flower, that are pushed through the appropriate viewing angle for the wattage of the diode and know the correct wattage of the panel (output wattage not advertised wattage) it doesn't really matter what brand you're using as long as you're dedicating at least 130 plus watts of true 3w led per plant you'll be in good shape.

Yeah some are better than others but when you get down to brass tax if you follow the suggestions I listed above you'll be happy with your leds. Just research the hell out of any company you're looking at that should be re-iterated 30 million times in this thread. 30 minutes of research could save you a lot of heart ache in the future!

OK, with all the controversy, The FERO is now on it's own in my dresser. The 2 plants were never really strong but they are growing some buds with the 2 lights now, so if the FERO is any good those buds will keep growing. As of this morning, I am taking the blackstar out of the dresser, sacrificing my crop (I can easily run 3 small lights in the dresser and will be only running 1...) and we will find out about the FERO lights.

I will post pics in my journal of what the plants look like today.

FERO has pretty decent prices, not sure what all the complaining from people is about...

340-390 watt actual draw for under $600? That's blackstar territory, except the come with lenses in a modular case.... seems like a great deal honestly.

Blackstar 500, 300 watt actual draw, $540....
FERO 450, 340-390 watt actual draw, $550....

yeah and me I got an even better deal on mine when they first came out... got the deal on amazon. But anyway, here is a few pics of what they look like as of today. The TD is pretty lame at the back and the Super Lemon Haze looks ok. The blackstar is probably going to endup in the room with the 2 400s.

Taking one for the team ... and for science! Badass man. Keep us posted. I'm not trying to hate on any of them, merely offering my theory that pretty much all true 3w leds will perform in a similar fashion if the right specs are employed.

i do what i want
u dont tell me what to do.
Cidly launched those lights ages ago before fero, they are the ones who lauched the lights
and if fero doesn't make them, tehy have copied them to perfection?
And why would you believe them? They are your friends? Or you bought lights with a discount and defend them?
And fero can bang off magnums guys? Really? And i have to stop?

AND WHO TOLD YOIU THE INNER PARTS ARE DIFFERENT? YOU ARE SO BIASED
SOOOOOOOOOO BIASED DUDE

CIDLY IS THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE OF THOSE DESIGN LIGHTS
WHATEVER COMES AFTER, COMES FROM THE SOURCE THEIMSELVES

FERO HAS DOUBLE THE PRICE OF CIDLY, THAT'S A DIFFERENT
YOU CAN HAVE YOUR SPECTRUM AT CIDLY, AND YOU ARE TALKING RUBBISH SAYING THE ORIGINAL SPECTRUM IS THREE COLOR, EVERYONE CAN GO ON THE WEBSITE. YOU ARE LIYNG
I do what is best for the community of people not affiliated, people that just want to share and be honest

and anyway guys, this whole concept of lights with those modules
it's a dirty joke! It's a piss taking
loads of watts and modules, very little covering area

do you know why? Because instead of going to use good chips, they are giving us the idea that we need the same amount of watts to equal hps, those people are incrementing the watts into a minimized coverage area

penetrator 336 or whatever it is, 400-500 watts for covering a mere 4 x 4 area?
All thanking the great evolution of x lenses? That's bollocks, if they were good lights, they'd cover 4 x 4 with a 300 watts!
Fero and cidly and even advanced ....... Loads of watts, so little coverage area......
Is this really where the technology is going?
That's bollocks!
Technology is going where you need less watts for your space, when the diodes are really good, and when the bins of such diodes are the most efficient!
