My parents kicked me out at 17. Lived in my truck for a bit then moved in with a friend for a couple months while I saved some money for an apartment. That was ten years ago and I Havnt been home since. They don't want me and I don't need them. My friends are more family to me than my family.

Im so confused... what was this kid kicked out for?

My point was simple... doesnt matter where you are you can moved forward. Just make the choice to do that... think about where you are and what resources you need, then find them... become self supportive, adapt to your situation. struggle, thrive... and that to hold fast to your morals and values will also pay off ;)

Surely you have something better to do with your last few weeks of freedom than harass a gay guy on the internet.
how can i harass someone who has me on ignore?

the dude came in here badmouthing the OP, i am simply giving a little back. maybe if he didn't go around blasting people i wouldn't be so hard on him. he cries about being "harassed" as he himself talks shit to people.

what does him being gay have to do with anything. you have something against gay people? :?

It's o.k. folks. It's kind of flattering. Just let it go. If he wants to spend his time harassing me then more power to him. Personally I would find something better to do with what little time I had left, but, that's me. :p

Besides. I can't see what he types. That's the genius of the ignore feature. LOL

That's was my point. Parents just don't arbitrarily kick out a child for no reason. Something instigated this.

He's not a kid. He's in his twenties.

I think there's more to this than laziness but we'll never know the complete truth. People have a tendency to wear rose colored glasses when it comes to their own behavior. :p

Oh they sure as Hell do. My parents were mean drunks who cared more about the next beer than their children. Got in an arguement over something stupid and my piss drunk anger managment needing father told me to get the Fuck out. Grabbed what little property I owned and left and I Havnt looked back.

my parents turned me away... told me no.

it was the only way they could take my kids in. and so it was done.

I have empathy and compassion for sleeping in a car... on the side of the road, in an alley way, in trees, bushes, on the curbs of the streets, on top of buildings, in parks... I have slept in all those places... when it was cold and snowing, I snuggled up next to a warm wall of someones house to keep warm.... eventually the window opened and a sweet lady invited me in through the window to sleep in a closet :)

Of course he wants compassion. But if you've read his threads, there's something a wee bit stuffed herring in Denmark about the whole fragmented odyssey. The harder question is ... just what sort of compassion is indicated? To me it's looking more and more like "the sort that deliberately excludes the enablement component". Jmo. cn

That's neither arbitrary or for no reason. Your father had a reason. It was fucked up but it was still a reason.

i should have said "some of you all ..."

i do see a lot of "good advice". which is probably all the OP was looking for. i really don't see what good blasting the guy does. it seems to me it is simply is to make the person doing the blasting feel better about themselves. how does calling someone a failure help in any way? i don't understand peoples motivation.

carne came in with guns blazing. talking about all the money the OP had, when the OP doesn't even have all that money yet. did carne apologize or even acknowledge his error? no, he simply went on in a new direction making more assumptions in an attempt to discredit the OP. why do people do this? :?

my prerogative is to have a different perspective than yours. I think the same goes for us all.... who understands any reason behind the emotional response of another person....?

its all in good fun for me. I really dont know what your beef is between you... I have none with no one, :)

When I was going through all that last year, yes I desperately sought to reach out and express myself and get all the support and help and advice that I could. I felt the need to express myself on RIU, but realised it was inappropriate for my situation. Im glad I detached myself from RIU at the time so I could focus on the issues that needed to be dealt with.
