someone posted an editorial that promoted the idea that we don't actually need a house this year...and the idea is growing on me.
the budget is passed until october. if the republicans elect a speaker, they'll spend most of the time and effort on ridiculous committees and investigations of imagined offenses. they want to impede the FBI's investigations, since many of them are going to be the targets of those investigations. they want to try to prove that Hunter Biden, not even a member of his father's administration, is somehow the key to "democratic criminal activity". they're so patently transparent, so obviously petty, so ridiculously invested in obvious horseshit...why do we need to even listen to gym talking shit about the FBI? we can hear all his testimony at his trial.
If they don't even get started, that's less stupid shit the republicans will have to undo once the republicans lose incredibly badly in 2024.
and Biden can always force the debt ceiling issue, printing the magic trillion dollar coin, so the republicans would have absolutely zero leverage...
their favorite weapon, holding the economy hostage, would be invalidated, they would have nothing...
