My home in Sacramento is 100 years old and is elevated. It was built before Shasta, Oroville and Folsom dams. Back when this area was prone to flooding. My 1st floor is actually 8ft off the ground. This allows me to have a full basement underneath, but that's for another post. My windows are all high off the ground and at fence top level. So I bought a window pet door and put it in a side window and installed a couple of 2x6 from the window sill out to the side fence for ez cat feeding.

This is TC (Top Cat), one of the stray cats, he's waiting for the lunch window to open. Note the round motion light on the window to let me know when they come after dark. Sometimes they will be 3 deep out there. I buy cases of canned cat food and big bags of dry food and I don't even own a cat.
