The problem I noticed was the verm rarely let the substrate dry out. IMO the upper root zone needs to dry out fairly well, allowing plenty of oxygen to reach the root system. If the substrate remains too wet it can stagnate and slow growth and development. The rez will allow more than enough water to remain for the taproots to drink and still allow the upper zone to dry out when using 100% perlite. It does feel a bit like wet sand for sure. I was basing this grow on a SOG i saw run with 50/50, but he grows in coco now. I am hoping it doesnt hold too much water, but what i like about it is that it will wic up water from the res if the top is getting too dry.
Did you notice a different in the plants when you swapped?
