I'm using the exact same everything as you are. I have the MG soil with 3 (or 6) mths of nutes, and the MG Original feed that you desolve in water. I didn't add the MG nutes untill I started to flower though. I figured that the nutes would be pretty much depleted by the time it was ready to start flowering. But I have some decent looking plants so far, they're about 1 week into flowering now. It's my first grow. I started some new seeds that are about 2 wks old using the same MG soil. I have them under 6500k CFL's. I'm using a 400watt HPS for flowering though. I bought it online for $99. I too am limited on funds and get all my gear from either Lowe's or Wal-Mart. I don't live around any plant stores. I've been advised to get some Fox Farms nutes, but that costs like $30-$40. No thanks...

Ph kit is like ten bucks at any fish store. Just make sure you get the kit that has ph up, ph down, and the tester bottle.add ur nutes to the water and then test it...ph up accordingly until you get right around 6.5...even though the water is colored from the nutes it will still be accurate

oh yeah? good..you can help me then..haha...you got a 400w HPS with the ballast for 100 bucks? that's awesome...and yeah, i'm on a tight budjet too...this is just a random hobbie for me..not a huge priority....just something I wanted to mess around with because it seemed interesting. so...what do you have your plants potted in..5 gallon buckets? and how much water/nutes to give them...

I was giving each plant one gallon of water with a leveled off teaspoon (small end of the spoon provided with the MG nutes)....that's what the indoor plant recommedation was on the back of the box...what are you doing?

Yeah this is a random hobby for me also. I always wanted to try and grow. I have 7 plants in like 1 or 2 gallon pots. I'm watering with the MG, one scoop of the small side in 1 gallon of water. I didn't use any MG for the whole time they were vegging cause I figured the MG soil had enough nutes to last. I started using the MG when I put them into flowering. I water them like every few days or so. I guess about every 4 or so days. Just whenever I feel the top half of the soil is real dry. I use about a half gallon per plant on the average. Yea I found a site that has the 400watt HPS and the MH light fixtures with the ballast for $99.

hmmm...sounds similar to what I do..however, i've alwasy given each plant a whole gallon of water...I only water ever 2 weeks or so..I think the dampness of the location keeps the soil wet longer...the top of the soil def doesn't dry out within 4-5 days...maybe I should water more often...i dunno dammit! hhaha..

so you use the MG potting soil from walmart and the mg plant food?

Yeah I use both, same as you.
Sense your soil stays moist for a long time you might want to water less. Like instead of a whole gallon, try and water with 1/2 gallon at a time. That might work. But I'm far from an expert...

yeah..i'll keep guessing I supposed. I think the water i'm using is the problem. I didn't have problems until I started using different water...who knows...what a PITA

The Walmarts in my area carry a few different kinds of Organic certified soil mixtures for pretty cheap, I'd recommend the Greensmix Organic ORMI 5, it's about $3 a bag/ cft. and some superthrive for a good root system

4....and they are about 5 months...they took forever..had a slow start due to my lighting...

i think my walmart only has the MG and a cheap alternative..forget the name

those pics don't look bad, new growth is what you need to focus on
plants can't 'heal', dead parts stay dead, so healthy new growth indicates improvement

yeah...but the new leave-tips are also burnt so they will probably turn to crap as well, right?
maybe, if the tips are cooked it is less than perfect
but a grow doesn't have to be perfect to give some good smoke
on balance, it appears things are improving somewhat
MG soil can be a trick to use, when you wander out of the zone, getting back in is tough, saw many cooked MG grows when i was trying to solve my misery in my 1st grow

ok...so I just bought some 2700k light and a timer....I also bought some ph test strips from walmart....i put them in the water and it was supposed to turn from yellow to orange....it didn't change at all which means my water is really acidic so I think this is why the girls are messed up. They didn't get messed up until I moved them to this new location. what do you think?

i use the cheap PH drops, but the color change sounds similar
it's possible to have a too acidic water(i guess), but seems much less common than too hard a water, i.e. dissolved alkali such as calcium etc.
going by my PH drops colors, yellow corresponds to 6 - 6.2 or so(or less)
cannabis is just fine with 6.0 water, though it depends on how it's reacting with your soil ferts

If you had Tiger Blood like myself, you would just be able to fix it on your own..... Fuck getting help!!!! You can work out your own problems, like me!!!!

hahah...thanks mr. sheen...you are absolutely right.....raaaarrrrr!!!!

hmmm...yeah these test strips say that yellow is 6.2 and acidic...but 6.2 should be good for these plants...i'll have to try the drops I guess...I tried to find them at walmart...is that where you got the drops?
