i'm a newbie...having a little trouble

well I was told to never mix grow mediums...so I was planning on sticking with the MG soil...so should I just transplant them and continue watering without nutes?
that sounds reasonable, i would think there would be less stress with the same mediu
you did seem to have good growth for quite a while, so the strain seemed to take to i
do some reading before transplanting, it's a stressful process for the grower
the only transplant i did was in my 1st grow, which didn't end well - i did change mediums which does mesh with what you were told

yeah..I think I am going to stick to the same medium....up to this point, it has worked really good...i've watered them every 2 weeks-one gallon of water mixed with nutes per plant...i never had any problems until I moved them to a new location..maybe the water ph is not right, or the room is too cold or something...

ok..I just transplanted them into 5 gallons...we'll see what happens..i think they might just be under-nourished due to the lack of space in the 1 gallon buckets...so we'll see what happens with 5 gallons with just water...if that doesn't work, I guess i'll go back to nutes...1 gallon of water per plant in a five gallon bucket, sound good?

1 gallon per bucket could be good, just so you get a fair amount of outflow
first, you'll want to make sure that their health returns
then you should think of flower, 2 footers can easily produce 4 foot flowered plants, those are not plants you flower with a single 25w cfl

I drilled 4 holes, about 1/2 inch on the bottom of the buckets..and 4 holes on the sides of the buckets...they should outflow pretty well...if they get back to health, I think I will flower...I just hope I can get them back..they are getting yellow and feel dry...

dead/burnt vegetation doesn't heal, so it's hard to tell how much of the damage is old, i do see 1 or 2 healthy plants in the bunch
you may want to start flowering out now, get what you get, it's a grow under the belt
if you let them veg further, be prepared for large plants, and large lighting

my best guess is this was from lack of nutrient, i base that on the yellowing
too much nitrogen burns are brown(best of memory), dead tips stay dead, never completely recover

ok..should I start back on with the nutes? I was using Miracle Grow....1 teaspoon per gallon of water was the recommended dosage for indoor plants...

i'm not sure what the optimum MG dosage is for MJ, i'd halve the amount to start with, maybe even a bit less
i've been an organic grower for a while now, and it's just easier
for the most part, you won't burn plants with organic fertilizers, at least not as easily

That thing is burnt like a mug. It didn't need anymore food. Still burning. Miracle grow potting soil with nute + full strength nutes = burnt. Whenever the tops of your plants twist up like that on the new growth and your fan leaves get crispy on the edges the culprit ss usually nute burn.

I would stay away from that soil, and if you must use it, add perlite to it. I've used it in a pinch and its super dense and offers an excessively compact root structure. Great job with the grow though, I would wager if you chose a different soil they would be tight as hell.

ok..well I haven't fed them in a while so I guess i'll back off on the nutes....I have no idea how to tell if they are over/under fed..I was tempted to start feeding them again because I never had a problem until I moved them to a new location...i'm wondering if the water at the new place is acidic or something...where can I get a reasonable ph tester? I heard the cheap ones are inaccurate...

also...despite the fact that they leaves are burnt, will it still produce decent buds or will they suffer as well?

the most cost effective way to PH water is with PH drops, very cheap, but very accurate
buy them wherever there are aquarium supplies
they're less useful for PH'ing the outflow, i.e. drainage water, depends on how heavily colored outflow is
you should get some good bud, just won't be as much with the better fan leaves
actual yield will be difficult to predict

i see...so I could use the ph drops to check the actual tap water itself...and then I can check the plant's ph level by the drainage water?

sure can, drops cost round $4, and they are quite accurate with clear water
th soil PH is tougher, it depends on how much color/turbidity in the outflow
some use PH meters, good ones do cost a bit, i've made do with drops, they've worked for me
