Illegal state, cops enter home for gas leak, I'm out of state

They went in and did some work to fix the leak in my basement... about 30 feet from my two grow tents, near a table covered in hydro nutrients, and worst of all... A freshly plant (everything clipped off).

Has anyone had this happen? How screwed do you think I am if I haven't been contacted by the cops or anything yet? FWIW I live in a liberal city with decriminalized weed, and I'm growing a single plant (well, one harvested, one flowering).

I wouldnt worry too much depending on where you are though. Ive had cops come into my home before in highschool looking for some guy. Seen all of my roomates and my bongs plants weed on table etc. They straight up told us they dont care and they werent there for that reason. All depends on the cop. This was many years before legalization in Canada.

^ This! You aren't ever gonna talk yourself out of anything, just dig a hole deeper. Give them your ID, ask for your attorney and zip it.

If you aren't selling to anybody then I honestly wouldn't worry about getting in trouble over your two plants. That's clearly for personal use, but in a worst-case scenario they could come back later with a warrant if they think you're cultivating to sell. I'd be mostly worried about the gas company people talking to their friends. Tear down the grow and you're good. Just be wary you could get a visit in the future by police, but VERY unlikely.

Ya idk about that. There's lots of info and advice given out on the site for free. Not sure there's any liability attached to an anonymous user giving legal insight or knowledge on property owners rights ect.

Perhaps reach out in the politics portion of the forum, I think there are some practicing or retired lawyers that like to argue over there, but post at your own risk lol they get a little wiley in the political section ;)

No it does mean something. If you're old, white, and look like a cop with no hair on face and head. No tats or holes in ears. I've had a couple of run ins with the law and every time they let me go for speeding and/or cutting off a state trooper. Once a trooper pulled me over for going too fast for a corner. We bullshitted a little and he let me go. I told him I was in no hurry but just driving too fast. He laughed and said "you're about my age, take it easy". I laughed too and said I don't' know why I was speeding, I was just going to an oil change. First impressions are big for LE.

Just got home, nothing is disturbed. Cut my half grown plant down ;_; god she smelled good.

Any suggestions for getting rid of the plant remains? I'm stuck between wanting to just throw them out but worried about the smell + garbage searches are legal. Typically I just put the remains down the garbage disposal but I have too much and it's too fresh for that. Could put it in with the compost, or let it dry some so it'll go down the disposal, but that keeps it on site for longer.

One nice thing about my city is that possession of pretty much any amount of flower is not prosecuted, so once I get the roots and stem gone I'm golden (I think).

flush or burn barrel i have a fire pit outside i use but im out in the sticks

Oh, and should I get rid of my actual grow equipment? I'd like to hold on to it so in a year or two when the state legalizes weed (we got a bill going right now, not enough votes but I've got faith in our next election) I can start back up again.

anything without THC on it is safe in storage!

Really no need to pack it in just get a hemp strain and practice with it for that year. That would be perfectly legal in the States.
