Hey guys, I have been researching LED's and narrowed my search down to a few lights and are looking for some input. I have a 4x4x6ft stealth box and want to grow some killer slicky. I have approx 5 yrs of grow experience but have been out of the game for 2 years because of kids and stuff.. Anyway, I am looking into these 3 lights: Apache AT600, Black Dog Platinum Xl 750w, CLW SolarStorm 880w. I am really looking for guys who have 1st hand knowledge, thank you for your help guys!

These mofo's are pricing themselves out of most people's budgets!!................I don't get it.

well you can look at a illumitex "knock off" BML's spyder panel http://www.bmlhorticulture.com/spydr-600-grow-max-spectrum/ NOT the same umol/par #'s as the illumitex, but in a 3x3 SOG environment it should work...........still would prefer passive cooled panels in a large op, no offense to area 51 and the rest of the active cooled panels. It's just less worry(also fan failure/junction temps) when your electronics are SEALED from moisture and dust when dealing with a commercial operation(employees do dumb things:P).

If quality and power savings are on top of your list you may also want to look at currently the best CMH bulb http://growershouse.com/sun-system-lec-315-light-emitting-ceramic-mh-fixture-120v the 240v option is even cheaper, covers a 3x3 @ $500 a pop, highest par/umol per watt on the indoor light tech market ATM. Very low lumen depreciation(for hid), open fixture rated, etc.

Even check out indagro Induction, I'm sure daryl would give discounts on bulk .............10yr warranty is very nice on a big investment.

good luck and be safe
So I looked at Bmls lights. Anyone used these? Or know of anyone who has. Looks good to me.

no first hand but iv heard enough people talk about the black dog being less than reliable whereas the other two you listed have very good reviews from growers.

EDSTONX.I run 5 24" T5 ho bulbs in a 2 foot by 3 foot closet with no ventilation except for what leaks under the door and have no problem with heat. I use red wave ultra growth wave 24 watt tubes (120 watts total) and when open the door to check my plants the temperature inside the closet is only 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. I don't think heat will be an issue with T5 side lighting. they don't seem to generate any more heat than my 50 watt warm white leds (ebay specials) that I use for supplemental lighting
Thanks for the info man. I just picked up a bunch of the 2700k 75w replacement Cree bulbs for my first attempt at side lighting. Though now I know someone has done T5 with no venting and had success so it's still an option. I only bought enough Cree bulbs for 1 out of 3 units to see if I notice an improvement or not. The T5 would have offered a more even coverage. So it may still be the better option. I'll see how what I'm doing works first though. Either way the feedback is appreciated.

Honestly I would never recommend a LED for a mother, it doesn't make any economical sense, same goes for seedlings. CFL makes the most sense in most scenarios because it is very affordable, both in investment and ongoing. Mothers don't require massive light and seedling require even less.

Now if money is't a consideration, LED's will work great but having don't both myself, I didn't see much of a difference except putting unnecessary miles on my more expensive LED's.
I have 4 mothers. They are about four months old and quite bushy. How many CFL's would you recommend to keep these sufficiently lit? Watts/K? I assume around 4000 K or so to keep it in the bluish spectrum?

I have a cabinet I use to grow a single plant at a time. I've got 6 successful CFL grows under my belt now, and want to look at upgrading equipment. I think I want to start with better lightning.

The inner dimensions of the flowering chamber are: 28"W x 20"D x 52"H.

Which Area51 would be best for this area? Would the XGS-190 be overkill? Or would I be better off with one of the RW150 or RW75?

With that height, you would be perfect for the new 150 or the Xgs, just depends on what spectrum you want I guess. Both top shelf lights. The 75 might be a tad underpowered for 10 cu. ft or so........imho.

Any Colorado growers in here using LED to beat the heat in the summer? With results?

So sick of air conditioning; getting really curious about LED.

QUESTION FOR YOU, LED-EXPERTS :-)

What LED-light would you recommend for growing 3-4 plants in the attic area. I have no grow-box, just free space of around 120x80x160cm which I can fence off if necessary but don`t want to add too much equipement like filters etc..
I can start first stage at the sun (through my room`s window), later on I would take them to the mentioned area where I would like to give them the best that is available at EU market for the max. price of 300€.
I`ve heared that you hardly find a quality product below 400€ but as I don`t need to cover too much space (right now 80x80x150cm would be just fine) I think I could have one too.

LOOKING FORWARD FOR YOUR ADVICES!

http://www.bonsaihero.com/ledgrow.html cheapest high quality panel in EU, buy as many as you can afford..........65w/80w versions, both work well.

damn man that shit got deep fried! is that from fert burn? dont think its the lights fault but definitely a bummer on an otherwise decent looking harvest.

Agree, I bet if the nutes were cut in half, yield would drastically increase. I always have had to dumb down the nutes with my DWC grows using LED but now have my ultimate go to feeding schedule after much experimentation.
