Agree, I bet if the nutes were cut in half, yield would drastically increase. I always have had to dumb down the nutes with my DWC grows using LED but now have my ultimate go to feeding schedule after much experimentation.
Yeah, it was my first grow and I certainly over medicated my ladies. I'm thinking 500 ppm in vegging and 700 ppm in flowering for aeroponic for my next try. What's your feeding schedule?

Just harvested an aeroponic grow with my Chinese 300W LED from AdvancedLEDgrow.com, 1 1/4 lbs wet:

2'x4' tent:

I'm not going to lie, your buds look immature, and or light starved.
You should really consider adding another light to help fully cover and penetrate the canopy.
Like you mentioned, you should definitely pull back on the nutes in your next run, too.
This is all constructive criticism that I hope aids you in your next grow :)
You pulled off a wonderful SCROG, now it's all about dialing everything else in.

Thanks, yeah I didn't optimize my grow but I still harvested plenty for a first effort. They were not light starved, I think I started them off bad by upping the nute strength much too high too soon. With all my reading, I was predisposed to getting the nute level to 1200-1500 ppm like most growers suggested. Then there was the 2-3 day lag effect when I was getting nute burn it would show up a few days later then bam, leaves curling. So I was fidgeting about the LED distance level which could have also burned them. Oh well, learned a lot and taking it slowly for my 2nd grow. I'm target 500 ppm for vegging and 700 ppm for flowering unless my plants tell me different.

Right On Brother Edge on A Sucessfull Grow And Harvest. You Made Alot Of Mistakes And Gained Some Very Valuable Knowledge In The Process As We All Do In The First Few Grows. Now Comes The Fun Of Dialing In Your System.:hump:

There are a lot of factors involved that change that number for your grow. Strain, starting ppm of water, and nutrient brand and additives. I started with general hydro and yeah my veg was 500 ish and my flower was around 700 ish and that worked best for that. Now I'm using botanicare with many botanicare additives and my flower is 1050 ppm or so and my veg unit is just floating over or under the 900 ppm mark. I also noticed with the GH I had to add water regularly to keep the ppm from getting too high because it would gradually climb. With botanicare it stays even or drops off so less maintenance there. Not trying to sell you in a bite brand just letting you know it's not all equal and it's not as easy as just saying "hey run this ppm".

If you notice it climbing then it was too high already if it's dropping then your girls want more.

I use the flora 3 part series and use 6 gallon tubs per 2 plants as follows:

From sprout - 25 PPM then double the second week to 50 PPM
Early veg - starting at day 14 I bump to near 100 PPM
Veg - starting day 21 I increase to 150 PPM I usually only veg till 3 weeks max or 3.5 if I have topped.
Start of 12/12 - 175 PPM's
Entire rest of the grow is increased 25 PPM's per week untill a max of 450 ppm's

I use flora's nute online calculator and change the ratio's of the 3 part depending on the stage. Please also note that This is just the PPM's for the nutes and my starting point from my tap water is at 150 so add 150 all numbers above.

Since you are doing aero, your plants can handle more then what mine can since my roots are completely submerged in the solution. For the tiny amount of nutes I use, I always hit at, near or over 1 gram per watt with no burning or problems ever. It took lots of experimenting but this is what works for me reliably.

I should also mention that if I see any major drops in ppm's or lack there of I will alter the feeding. I try to always keep these levels so if I see the PPM's drop by 50 I will add it right back regardless of the day. hope any of this helps. =)

Hi RollItUp, I got some questions for everyone who has ran the Mars and the reflector style LG lights. First off i run a 4x4x6.5 with a 600w HPS hung vertical allowing me to grow 8 plants 3 to 4 feet tall. I get nice flower development all through my plants because so much plant is exposed to the bulb. I know placing the 600w above the canopy I would not get the same results because lack of penetration. So my first question is, how far does the 3w reflectors penetrate, what about with 2 at an angle? The Mars 2? How much clearance from the light to the top of the canopy? (Keep in mind my height restriction) I'm hoping to switch to either the Mars 2 1200w or 2x 144pc3w Reflector. Next is how hot do these lights get? Is 600w of LED still equal to 600w of HPS heat? I'm open to any recommendations or actually any kind of input at all.

How many area 51 190's do I need for a 4 x 8 tent?
The site said they'd have a big shipment on april 4th and I went to order on the 4th and it's not even mentioned now just temporarily unavailable. Does anyone know what happened?

We don't recommend the Mars II or any of the LG lights on this forum.
There are a few folks on here that have tried to use them with little to no success.
They are made from low grade parts, especially the diodes themselves.
Consider the Mars II as the semi-cute hooker down the street with herpes.
You didn't know she had herpes till you fucked her, and now that you fucked her, it's too late.

I'd recommend Area 51 or Apache Tech LED's for your situation.
Invest wisely in your LED light and it will be your best friend for years to come.

If your considering using the 5w diode panels I would recommend you get two of the lesser wattage Mars panels vs just 1 with higher wattage, LED coverage will always trump concentration when growing multiple plants. Personally I would go with 4 of there classic 300 watts or the 2 - 144pc reflectors. As far as heat goes, they will put less heat then the 600 hps and would require ventilation but not air conditioning. I use the LG's and other cheap panels such as blackstars and they perform extremely well for me, getting 1 GPW or above isn't an issue reliability is questionable but I have panels going on 3 years of constant service that are still going strong and there so cheap that having a spare on deck it no big deal.

You shouldn't say "We" because your opinion certainly doesn't include me! I have great success with the LG's and other cheap Chinese panels. 1 GPW is easily achievable with the LG's and with the price so low it works out well for me. I would go even as far as to say that if you can't get damn near close to 1 gram per watt then your doing it wrong and it's grower's error. I have 3 years of consistent results.

Its always interesting to see the conflicting opinions on the Chinese panels.

On one hand I want to make a safe purchase and buy a single 65w Hans panel for my first LED grow, but on the other hand, for the same price I could get a 300w Chinese panel shipped! I understand the reliability issues people have with foreign made panels, especially those that run hot and are driven at high amperages like the Cidly Apollo.

Bad Karma has way more experience with these than I do, but just looking at the numbers, I think 6 is going to be more than adequate. 4'x8'= 32 sq ft x 30 watts/sq ft (60% of hps rule)=960 watts, 960 divide by 195=4.9. So by that rule, 5 lights would technically be enough, 6 will be plenty of light for that tent I think.
