heyy there,
over the weekend my friend will be bringing me clones, and helping me build my hydro setup (not sure what type of system he has in mind yet)

but i have been searching and searching and searching, and i cant find ANYTHING that flat out explains how to grow in hydro....
i know somebody is going to say "search, n find it for yourself you noob" haha
but i just cant find it.... dont get me wrong, iv learned ALOT from RIU. but am just having trouble wit this.
can ANYBODY point me in the direction of something that explains all the aspects of growing hydro. like daily maintanace-ph,water temp, how ofter to check ph, how ofter to add nutes, do i need to renew water in the sytem? etc..

i am not asking for somebody to sit there n type all of this out haha, just pass along a good link or something to a grower desperate to learn :-P
thanks a million for taking the time ta read!! :leaf: :leaf:

Look up 'flood and drain' or 'ebb and flow' on youtube. That'll give you an idea of the process and the possible equipment you might need. Hydro is great because it doesn't require daily maintenance. Change your water/nutes once per week. Don't flood with the lights off. Start off with rockwool and flood 2-3 times per 24 hour period, depending on cube size and the stage of the plant. Check out GH's nute program or the lucus formula until you get comfortable with the process. Once you're comfortable, look into the additives as they WILL make a difference in quality and yield.

This is a high-level overview so some research will be required on your end for the missing info. Or PM me. I'm an expert.

well the friend that is hooking me up has plans drawn out for the setup, as he has a couple of them setup in his grow room. just got off the phone and i think hes talking about DWC, he said its a square plastic tube that holds the nets/plants with a resovoir pumping water into one side and draining from the other(with pvc tubing and rubber hoses). he's coming over later today to explain better lol
but does the water/nute schedule change with dirrent types of setups?
and im pretty sure PH should be 5.8-6.0 for all hydro setups as this is best for nutrient uptake, correct?
and for the nutes, how do i go about adding them to the water without overdoing it? there should be mixture amounts on nutrient bottle probly.

but from what iv read, the main thing to worry about are- water temp, root zone temp, water ph, PPM
im guessing oxygen in the H2O is also very important.

The system you're describing doesn't sound like DWC. Maybe NFT? It could even be ebb and flow depending on how often the pump is running. PH is important but I can tell you this, I've never taken a PH reading or a PPM reading as my water and nutes put me in the perfect range as is. This will not be the case with all water and nutes around the world. And with a nute change each week, that doesn't really allow my PH to jump out of a 'safe' range.

Nute mixtures are on the bottles and each company has their own suggested schedule. I'd recommend trying a 1/2 strength version of a suggested nute program and increase as you feel comfortable. Each strain/pheno will react differently to different programs and one should take a conservative approach until they fell they know their plants.

its a square gully system, NFT. I don't use one, I use an ebb and flow table to flower and drip system to feed.

go to youtube ans search for "Ready, Set, Grow."

well here, then watch the other 6 in the series, a little outdated but great basics for growing.

While semi cheesy this series takes you through a full grow of cannabis.
