I dont remember what forum I was on before but there was a guy that found a hidden door behind a wall in his basement. He videotaped the opening of it and going inside, etc. It was pretty cool but it just turned out to be an already empty cistern with no cool shit or treasures inside!
Not until somebody converts it to a grow area and starts some treasure. Ay feel me nuggets, matey!

Ok guys sump pump failed :( damn old equipment guess you get to see me drain it from the top which is actually good for the tutorial anyways Pictures of that coming soon im borrowing a pump from a friend. If your not so lucky go to a rental place and rent a trash pump then you can set it all the way at the bottom and it will suck up the soot to and save some work for you later. I can't wait to show you guys the inside work this parts kinda boring the inside is when the magic happens stay tuned!

It's fun watching someone so excited about their project.

It would be cool to have a Bat cave.

the only cisterns ive ever seen are the ones on the toilet lol, but im subbed, i really wanna see how this turns out.
i was watching a property programme once where this house was for sale in spain that came with its own cave. needlesless to say the people didnt buy it, idiots. i thought it was just about the coolest house on the planet :bigjoint:

Ok guys heres pics. I fastened my pump to tow rope and board to hold it up you DO NOT WANT TO FULLY SUBMERGE the pump. just lower it until the float engages the pump. then lower it as needed to keep pumping. I also connected a firehose to the pvc part to bring the water out to my yard. and just keep going. any questions feel free i have 1.5 feet left of water to drain. Sump pumps pump about 100 gallons every 10 minutes. but cistern do hold a LOT of water!Pump.jpghose clamped.jpgOnly tools.jpgsuspended pump.jpg

Just a quick note when you get to the bottom tie the float up so that the motor stays engaged even though there isnt enough water to raise it this will save some time doing the work by hand.

For the cleaning process you are going to need pressure washer (optional) Basement sealer. Kilz primer and regular white paint or any color paint you want if using mylar.

Is that a plastic one or concrete? Seems like it would take forever to dry. And you're going to make a door from the side or open the top more to get in it?

I will either be using a concrete saw or if i can't get my hands on that im going to drill holes all the way around where i want the door then sledge hammer it and saws all the ree bar and then frame the door with studs. and fill any gaps with foam insulation. pics and tutorial for that part to come :). good question :)
