Are you sure you know what you were smoking?
if you were asking me, i do actually know that grower and she grew it from a clone, so I am pretty sure everything is good. i ordered her seeds from attitude for her next order so she doesn't have to track clones down, there aren't many up here.

I have a friend that makes a high cbd lotion that he puts all sorts of strong scent oils in. It has zero mj scent, and does wonders. He's giving me his recipe soon when I have a new harvest ready. It involves a lot of ingredients, but works well for her exact medical problem. We're in a legal medical marijuana state, so we do get to learn cool stuff.

I'm going to post the process and all the info in the cooking section when I personally do it.

In the meantime, script drugs do help, it sucks to be addicted, but you have to pick a way to get through the day, right?

Ware did your friend get the cbd? are you sure its cbd? most cannabis has very little cbd in it at all I think the highest reports ever were like 10%and the seeds cant be purchased. most are less than 8%

I find that eating small balls of hash made from a good indica causes the most powerful body/pain relief high possible for me with the least psychoactive effect. It will still make you feel high but it's nothing like smoking etc. I just don't think it's possible to get REALLY strong pain relief from Marijuana without feeling at least somewhat high.

Reduce down to Oil, Infuse into your food and eat it. No heady, and all the internal benefits...

I agree. Your body metabolizes it differently when you eat it, so the buzz is going to be different, but you'll still get a buzz. I don't see how to avoid getting a buzz. That would be really cool though if it were possible. My mother-in-law has cancer, and she is one of my patients .... but she doesn't really enjoy the buzz. It gives her some mild pain relief and stimulates her appetite so that she doesn't waste away. We make medibles for her which she prefers over smoking, but I know she would LOVE to try something that has little to no "high" to it.

Citicoline has been known to inhibit the euphoric effects of THC. You can buy it at the pharmacy or health food store.

NIDA has actually been studying it as a 'treatment for marijuana dependency' for a few years. The things they give out grants for...

My Mom was born in the 40s. She was actually born during the first year of the baby boom, 1946. She grew up in an atmosphere that 'drugs are drugs. Period.' People in her age group see drugs in exactly two ways... either the hippies who tuned in, turned on, and dropped out, or the group who sees no difference between heroin and marijuana, pretty much. They are all illegal drugs. the government and the morality police made sure that marijuana and anything else are mutually as wretched. They also firmly believe that pot is some great gatweay drug, and everyone who smokes pot will soon be some toothless, home robbing junkie who sells their babies for a hit fo whatever, because that is what they were told. I think this is the hardest age group to break through to, and coincidentally, are the age group that has the power in this country at this time... the "Baby Boomers."

My mother knows of my grow, totally supports it, and even helps research facts and tips! She has a host of medical issues as well, and being on umpteen Big Pharma cures for many years, with devastating side effects and addiction problems of their own, her mind has completely changed. My Mommy, a Midwestern, church going, stay at home momma who raised 3 kids, has never smoked anything in her life. Nor would she ever consider vaporizing, as she 'doesn't wanna breathe in that hot steam.' But edibles and oils are managing her chronic, debiliting rheumatoid arthritis pain, her fibromyalgia, as well as her depression symptoms. She doesn't drink alcohol either, so she has 'no use' for feeling high or 'out of control,' and that was also her main complaint about pharma measures--- the 'drugged out feeling.' She manages her pain very well, without being 'stoned' and unable to function. In fact, she does more now, because she feels better, than she ever has.

The breakthrough for her, I think, was when she realized that marijuana can grow outdoors naturally, from nothing more than a simple, untreated seed, the sun, and the rain, and it is the only 'drug' that doesn't have to be changed, or added to in any way... all it does is grow, dry, and get used. There are no complex chemical additives or compounds, no scientists creating complicated formulas, no FDA approval, no sneaky scientific testing for side effects, no trials to see how safe it is... it's just the buds of a plant. You can't say that about any other 'drug' whether it be illiegal OR pharmaceutical.

Well, that, and the fact that her kid has been high so many times and she never even had a clue... :)

PS: She knows all about it now, and still doesn't know if I'm medicated or not. But let me have a 6 pack of Bud Light, and boy does she ever know!!!

That's really great, Bubbies! I love to hear of people that turn to marijuana over the big pharma pills! It's a MUCH better option!

Here's my question, though: How does your mother ingest the marijuana (specifically) without getting "high"? I've tried varying quantities of meds fused in to the butter ... I've tried harvesting earlier ..... I've tried harvesting later .... but the one constant seems to be that the requisite amount meds needed to experience pain relief also gets her high. If less meds are used, she doesn't get high, but she is also still in pain.

I would love to know how to deliver the pain relief without the buzz!

The way I understand it is the THC gets you high. After decades of breeding plants to have the highest thc that we can get now we find out the CBD is what gives the medicinal 'effects' or benefits. Now the goal is super high thc and cbd, and then low thc, high cbd which is what you two and many others are after. The most information on 'cutting edge' CBD and the actual medical aspect of cannabis is Treating Yourself magazine, that really kicks ass with information.
But again, IMO you want to keep searching for high CBD and low THC. It sounds like every breeder out there almost is working on this because of the demand.

Makes sense what you're saying, but you will find numerous sources that seem to indicate that high thc sativas offer very good medicinal relief. I've seen subcool reference this as well. It contradicts what I always assumed (which is what you're saying) about high cbd, low thc meds.

Sativas absolutely offer medicinal relief, that is what I use. You guys don't want the buzz, or are atleast looking to offer medicine without the buzz.

This is ware farma is messing up. You need both thc and cbd working together. if you dont want to get high then you to make an oil that can be absorbed through the skin. I did a tutorial on how to make tincture a while back. its in the medicating section and here in the michigan sub forum. instead of using olive oil as a base use glycerin. The tincture cured my eczema btw. I had been dealing with it for over ten years and using prescription creams. they would work but it always came back. two weeks of using my tincture and it was gone.

Do you think a tincture will work on a cancer patient? I'm willing to try anything if it will work!

Have you read up on Rick Simpson at all?
I've read as many positives about him and his methods as negatives to be honest. To me, it seems like there are valid points in both the positive and 'negative' reviews.

My mom LOVES oil absorbed through her skin, fyi! That's mostly how she ingests actually. She doesnt care for the taste of pot baked into stuff, ("I want my chocolate euphoria strictly from chocolate, as each creation is God's miracle and deserves to be savored alone." Gosh, I love her!!) nor is a huge 'hard candy fan' so the lollipops aren't her fave either. The olive oil tincture (as well as olive oil-based butter that I'm currently trying to perfect... the Moms is a picky one, but after dealing with her crop of kids for this many years, she is OH SO entitled to be!) works great for her. The lollipops do work well for her though, if we can find a flavor she likes, and they last her a long time.

Side note: Been thinking about the question that was posed regarding how she ingests without the 'high.' I'm sure it has to do with the fact that her body is sensitive to ANY kind of medicine, even aspirin, and maybe the fact that she doesn't have any exposure to it other than for pain relief... I.E., she ain't out toking on a bowl for 30+ years with her kid so she has no 'tolerance.' :D :D
