How much does your grow cost!!!

I can get better results using the same ferts I use in the vegetable garden as people using AN. There is nothing special about cannabis. It requires the same things as most other plants. I see all these pictures of crappy looking plants from people using these "Cannabis" specific products to know they are not needed. It's all marketing, stoner science and just blatant lies from many of these companies. But feel free to spend as much on one grow that myself and many others spend on dozens of grows.

I don't buy into all the bullshit, youtube infomercials, and all the other "You need this" crap. I've been growing plants of one kind or another for fifty years.

Go take a browse in the marijuana problems section and look at all the fucked up plants people are growing despite using AN or "X" cannabis specific brand and paying ten to twenty times what those in the know do.

Fancy labels and cool sounding names don't grow good cannabis. A good grower that keeps the environment nice and feeds properly with any nutrient will have great success. Newer growers that buy into the marketing nonsense and follow some ridiculous feeding chart that has you using a dozen bottles of unnecessary shit are not growing anything better than me. All their doing is transferring their money to some shysters bank account.

But feel free to spend $100 a grow on nutrients. I'll spend less than that for a couple of years worth of very good grows. Take a look at the labels on these cannabis specific nutrients. Same shit as products that cost a fraction of the price. It all comes down to the elements and AN nitrogen is no better than the bulk calcium nitrate I buy for dirt cheap just like all those fancy bloom boosters and such are made with the same MKP, potassium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, etc... that I buy in bulk as well for pennies of what it costs to buy AN overpriced nutes. Plant science is real. Cannabis specific marketing is crap.
I've been using GH 3 part for 20 years, maybe some Epsom now and then. So what fertilizer do you use? Cheaper than GH?

My goal is for the rolling paper to be the most expensive part of the joint. Not counting time. I had help in that when my buddy gave me half a pallet of {hurricane damaged} bags of potting and top soil. He's in the green house business and sells to me at cost. When I tried to pay, he said they were paid for by the insurance, not to worry about it.
I need better friends..

grow set up and cost. 12/12 cycle

I have 2x 600w hps.
1x 10inch extractor
2x 6inch intake fans.
1x standard fan.
1x air stone pump.
1x fish tank heater.
1x 500w oil filled radiator. (For lights off)

I have no idea of the cost.
It kind of depends on the type of cost.
Initial start up cost? About $55k. (excluding real estate)
Operating expenses, fixed and variable? About $6k per month.

Running 24 1000 watt Gavita DE's. Four 5-ton split air conditioners. Three dehumidifiers. All powered by a 65kw generator running 12 hrs a day consuming 3 gallons of diesel an hour.

Produces 25 to 30 lbs of the finest that N Cali has to offer every month.

It's a lot of work.
My wife and I each work a 40 hr week - it is the family business.
The only work we hire is the trimming; have a crew come in routinely three days a month.
I am old too, so work is really work.

But, it is work that I love.
I hope that I die in my garden; with my girls all around me.

In the middle of a turn right now. Harvested a room yesterday. Today we cleaned and sterilized the room. Tomorrow we replant it. The 144 teen clones are ready and eager to get started.

I am exhausted.
Happily exhausted.

2019 grow and harvest report

April volunteer seeds from last year popped up on their own in the hoop house. She’s been self propagating since 2017.
Light cost: $0. Labor time 0 minutes
Mid June culled males that had oddly begun to flower and show themselves with 15 hours of light per day. Lucky!
Labor: 30 minutes
October harvest and trim (partial trim. Not sale grade level)
Labor 2 hours
Total cost: one hour drive round trip 2x. 2.5 hours labor
Hard costs for light and nutrients; $ZERO. Wild grown! No food. No water. No work.
Harvest: 20 oz flower, including some stalk, fan leaf, and seeds here and there. Couldn’t sell it, but the taste and high are spectacular! And seeds are expensive so what’s not to like?!

You crush, sir! Love the color of the dirt, the long shadows so we know it’s either early or late in the day. Two guys are shirtless, so we know it’s hot, but not tropical based on the surrounding trees, or desert. And not yet in flower so Mid summer somewhere in America. Beautiful field of marijuana bushes!

NOTHING is better than sun-grown. For sure.
Humans will never make a light source anything even close to God-given sun.
IF I had a choice, I would be outdoors.

I started growing out doors as a younger version of me in 1975, in the mountains west of a little town by the name of Covelo. I worked for a guy who's dead now, his nickname was Mendo Joe. A VietNam vet, forward recon. Nicest guy you ever met, most dangerous guy in the county ... good thing was, it was up to you which guy you got to deal with. You got to choose.
Started out a mule, schlepping in food, ferts, supplies to the on-site guy.
Finally became the on-site guy for five grows, got raided.
Ended up doing his cloning for him.

Nothing is better tasting than sun-grown. I don't understand why people actually pay more for indoor.

I’m mindful of equipment and remove redundancies. But don’t really keep track of electricity. I plugged a Kilowatts per hour meter once, and it was $60 per month. 2 tent light rotation.
8- bulb T5 for Veg
1000 w HPs ( only running at 750 w last 4 weeks of flower) on a light rail and in a 4x8.
1 exhaust fan, and a couple of fans.
