im not trying to attack you. sorry how that came off. i dont understand how thats possible. Actual bonsai plants grow about 20 times slower. a plant grows eventually everything you trim off is gone. so your plant well get taller and all the branches will be at the higher point of the plant and even if you are able to keep the lower branches they will get taller too. especially if you take cuttings.it redirects its energy into new growth. within a month even they will be a couple feet tall with more branches....... my soils are a foot tall in a week from clone with 3 or 4 nodes. what you are saying is like putting a little kid in a box and hoping he doesn't grow taller. you can train a plant. but its not gonna stay small. unless you use bushmaster (which is horrible). then it wont grow at all. the more cuttings you take the faster it produces more branches and takes off. like i said before it redirects its energy . it's impossible to keep a plant that short for a whole year.

This mom has been cut on for close to a year.
The cuts pictured with her were taken on 1-31-11
She is less than twelve inches tall, and i'll
be taking four new cuttings tomorrow.
Her rootball was trimmed and she went into
the new soil the week after the last cuts were taken.

ok. from what ive seen with mine n my buddies. when you take a cutting. it causes the rest of that branch to grow faster and several more sites grow which makes it much bigger. if you cut off the new growth before it grows enough. there won't be anything left of the plant. thats why it doesn't make sense to me.but ok what ever.. i let the roots do their thing. i never cut them back. that's the heart and soul of the plant. the quality of the roots makes the plant what it is.

All i can say is what i've been saying.
I don't have problems growing in small pots, in terms of problems
due to roots being bound.
Obviously bigger pots are better for bigger plants,
but i don't need big plants to keep a perpetual grow supplying me with
enough bud. It's a personal grow so weight is not what drives me.
Staying within the legal guidelines of my states' medical marijuana laws
is more important than growing trees that net lbs of bud.
The equipment i use, also dictates smaller pots, and plants.
As for that mom, i prune and throw away more cuttings than i need as it is, so
she is the ideal size for the four cuts i need to take each month or so.

I stay within the legal guidelines here too. I try to get as much as I can at best quality I can. I'd rather have less of good quality then a lot of crap. have you thought of taking those extra cuttings and rooting them and take them to a dispensary?

As written, our law doesn't address dispensaries. In the eyes of LE they're illegal.
I'm only legal to grow for myself at this point.
Michigan patients are being harrassed at every turn, i don't need to invite that attention
my way. I'm content growing the meds i grow, the way i grow.
After 28 years of smoking weed, i have all the network of friends
i need to never have to rely on a stranger in a strange place for anything related to meds.

It's way different in cali. there's thousands of dispensaries. There's like 20 down every street. As long as your doing it for multiple patients. (have copies of recommendations). you can do as much as you want. here its 6 mature and 12 immature for each script in most counties. humby and mendo its 100 sq feet per script and san jose there is no limit. if you get rolled with nug and don't have a scrip.t its only an infraction, a $50 fine less than a speeding ticket.

An interesting question,

I bought a kiddie swimming pool from Walmart 3' diameter at the bottom and have used a 400w for 25 years. There isn't a drain since it is so small and it is very convenient.
According to the 'lumins vs square footage' equation a 400w hps light will effectively cover 8.3 square feet and the inside measurement of my pool is 9 sq ft.
8... 3 gallon pots {or 10... 2 gallon ones} will fit in 'the pool' so anything that will fit in 'the pool' will be effectively covered.
No more math!

No holes in the walls no blowers or suckers, no duct work everywhere and it is simple, effective and can be taken down and hidden in 20 minutes.

With a taller plant like a Satori flowered at 19", I place 6 in the pool leaving the center open for more light and with a short plant like Mastodon, I place 8.
The Satori gets pretty tall but 'I like' a strong trunk and limbs.
A plant that doesn't need any support.
If they are a little tall I lolly-pop the lower limbs so that the 18" - 20" of usable light the 400w produces {below the heat} is fully taken up and used.
Don't spend much money on fertilizer and get an oz from each plant.
I get by...

" Lets all git ignert and go coon hunting...!"
Before its too late!
Jack the Knife...
and Toby...

Great, you'd grow outside too. Then you and the other poster would find the correct forum to post in, and let everyone know about
your wonderful outdoor greenhouse grows, and those that gave a damn would stop by and discuss outdoor growing with you.
Kind of like i grow with a 400w hps, indoors, so i commented on a post with questions related to an indoor grow using 400w.
I loke this lol sorry I
