Again, i don't get your point.
I like to grow indoors under a 400w light. I don't have to grow this way, i choose to.
It's not a lot of effort to water and tend to plants, in fact it's kind of fun. I choose to do it indoors.
It's not worth the extra weight an outdoor plant produces for me to go through the trouble
of everything that goes with outdoor growing. The list of potential problems with
growing outdoors, for me isn't worth it. It's not about weight as much as it is growing
good plants that produce good bud.
yea too many problems for me to deal with also..indoor is the only way for me!

I do 6/2 gal pots under my 400....trick is keeping the canopy low so you dotn create shadows in the small box. I do LST and it works out pretty good.

I just don't uderstand people sometimes. Think about this for a second: Say we use 1 gal jubs or bags. The 1 gal jugs are 6"squared and you have a 4x4 space. Now you can get 4 jugs per sqft and you have 16sqft. In a 4x4 rm you can put in 64 plants. Well that's too many, so let's say we put 48 plants in 1 gal jugs. Because most states anything under a cerain amount of plants is gonna be the same charge. whether you have 10 or 40. Say them 4 plants yielded 2oz each, that's 8ozs. Now say each jug produced 1/2oz x 40=20ozs. What one would you rather have for the same charge.....hmmmm i don't know, anyone got thoughts...........I know some states vary, but i'm just curious why people don't maximize their rooms to produce what they deserve for the time you can do in jail.......Just a thought fellas

4 sweet tooth under 400w in 3 gal grow bags. They are around 15 to 18 inches. As you can see the hood just covers the plants. I bigger hood may help with more plants.

I can't do sog..due to the fact I don't have room to keep 60 clones going..I don't even have a plant that produces that many clones.

I've never grow plants that showed any signs of being "rootbound", obviously a plants overall
size will be smaller than if grown in a bigger pot, but no ill effects to the plant itself.
I grow a lot in one gallon pots that when fed properly, still produce 2+ per plant.
I have a feeling a lot of problems that are blamed on "rootbound" are other problems misdiagnosed and
blamed on roots being bound up. In no way is this the law, just my opinion.
I keep mother plants in smaller than one gallon pots, take multiple cuttings, and repot
in the same size pots. I transplant moms twice a year, also with no problems.
My mothers never grow taller than 18-20 inches.

the size of the pot is determined by the height you allow the plant to grow. if your growing 1.5-2' plants, of course they can be smaller. if your growing 3' i woulndt use small pots. if ur growing like my mother plant, its in 2 5 gal buckets and the roots need it.

I currently have 12 plants flowering under my 400 hps in about a 4x4 area. This is my first attemt at a sog so I flowered them at about 8-10 inches tall. They are now 2 weeks in and have grown to about 16 inches average. Everything seems to be getting plenty of light. I keep my light about 9 inches from the canopy to use as much light as possible.

My short answer is i have a plant limit, as well as a weight limit.
I'm a legal patient, and intend to stay that way.

Yeah, i like to keep my plants short and bushy rather than tall.
After topping in veg, the newest four i put in flower are only 11 inches tall, and just about
done growing vertically and the buds are starting to form.
I keep my moms in less than 1 gallon pots, but i only root four cuttings at a time.
Although i could take more without any problems.

when ive kept mine in smaller pots. they get just as tall as if they were in a 3 gal pot but more stringy because they are root bound. they don't branch out no where near the ones in larger pots.. after 2 weeks in a 1 gal pot they are root bound. I don't believe for one minute yours don't get root bound in a 1 gal pot. that is physically impossible. you get a foot for each gallon. from my experience the roots are usually twice as long as the plant is tall at minimum. I start mine in a half gal pot then 10 days later transplant into a 3 gal pot and if they hit 3 feet before flower I transplant. into a 5 or 7 gal. my moms in soil are 4 feet after 2 months, or4 feet in hydro after a month and i bend an top and super crop and take lots of cuttings almost every other day.. that honestly blows me away. if my moms stayed that tall all year i would be pissed because there wouldn't be enough cuttings to take.

also why would you transplant them into the same size pot? that's a little redundant. you would have to cut back the roots to do that. that's no bueno

You are correct, i cut the root ball down, and repot in the same size pot.
The idea isn't to grow a massive mother but keep her small.
This is a plant for cuttings only. If i only need 4-6 cuttings every month or so, there is no reason
to grow anything bigger than a 15" tall mom, so no reason for a pot any bigger than 1 gallon.
Even that small a plant, i have to prune and throw away multiple cuttings as it is. A mother in
a two or three gallon pot would be a waste in my case.
Bonsai moms grown in this style have been known to live for years with proper care. i.e. trimming roots,
proper pruning and feeding. They can also be grown in pots as small as 4"x4"
You can refer to the advanced growing forum if you're not familiar with bonsai moms.
I have a small perpetual grow so 4-8 plants in small pots flowering are all i need.

To each his own i guess. I don't have any problems growing in smaller pots.
