how many plants under 400w hps?

lol i did 12 my first time under a single 400w hps. i used mh for veg. http://skiweeds.angelfire.com it was very cluttered. i also let them get too tall. now i lst and have only 6 under a single 600w hps cause they're so wide and bushey. i must say, even though i did the 12, it still turned out awesome! but i think its better to do shorter wider plants now.

I'm doing an 8 plant perpetual grow under 400W.
This is how my flower room is set up currently. I can
make changes as needed to allow for different
plant sizes.
I'm limited to flowering 8 max to stay legal.

same type aset up as me!lookin good!how's ur yeild?

1.5-2 oz is why I stopped flowering with the 400w and moved them outside. The same plant that yeilds a oz under the 400w yeilds 16 oz outside.

I've got Chemdog and Detroit Diesel on the sides, they're almost 7wks female. The four lower clones are from a mom i'm growing from seed. I got the seeds christmas '09 from a friend, he said it was a strawberry strain crossed with bubblegum. I grew some last year and it's pretty dank shit. So this Sept. i grew the rest of the seeds, sexed and kept the best female as a mom.

I don't see what your point is with this post.
Not only is this an indoor forum, but the title of the post would suggest
the op is looking for people with similar lighting to his, or hers.
Thank you for pointing out the sun has more power than a 400w hps though.

just saying. You put out allot of effort to grow under a 400w for a very small return. I did it for years. I'm not bashing anyone that has to use a 400w light.

Again, i don't get your point.
I like to grow indoors under a 400w light. I don't have to grow this way, i choose to.
It's not a lot of effort to water and tend to plants, in fact it's kind of fun. I choose to do it indoors.
It's not worth the extra weight an outdoor plant produces for me to go through the trouble
of everything that goes with outdoor growing. The list of potential problems with
growing outdoors, for me isn't worth it. It's not about weight as much as it is growing
good plants that produce good bud.

you can get dense buds with a 400w and you can get decent yields ... check out my pics in my journal they are proof

im sure this depends on where you are in the world. if i could do it, id setup a greenhouse with a concrete slab and go aeroponic. eliminates alot of outdoor problems but still get the power of the sun.

Great, you'd grow outside too. Then you and the other poster would find the correct forum to post in, and let everyone know about
your wonderful outdoor greenhouse grows, and those that gave a damn would stop by and discuss outdoor growing with you.
Kind of like i grow with a 400w hps, indoors, so i commented on a post with questions related to an indoor grow using 400w.

I have 6 under two 400's. they are in 3 gal maxi pots and almost 3 ft tall, still in veg and been super cropped a few times. I have plenty of room to raise my lights too. Take that into consideration also.

There's nothin wrong with growin with a 400 watt hps. Actually, if you keep your plants small enough you can get quite a bit under a 400. Plus you can drop the light right down to about 8" from the canopy long as you have you light vented. I've done 30 2liters each yielding about 3/4 of an oz dried with a 400hps. Just gotta go with a 5-10 day veg from clone & your good to go. Keep your side shoots pinched & don't have more than 3 or 4 side branches. To many side branches kills your main cole yield. Sometimes i strip everything off the sides just so my cola will get bigger.................

1 day i wud like to try sog..went i have the space to keep all those clones going!

yea im getting alot of info about sog style..and i plant lst training..and even outside growing!!but the q was how many 3 ft plants cud i fit under a 400w?i already know about sog..and lst..and outdoor!thanks for staying on the subject q!
