Thanks for the link, interesting, all I can say is damn, time to move underground. Surely Americans aren't too comfortable with this? Makes me uncomfortable and I don't even live there.
Coming to a country around you.

Regardless, we have been flying robot death, abroad for quite a while. These put the stealth into stealthy, already. Why do you think you are safe? :) Are you more comfortable, now?

No I am not comfortable at all, but my government spends all our money on goooci and Kentucky fried chicken and for them to try and operate this kind of tech is beyond them, hell they can't even keep our fighter planes in the sky because we have no money to fly them. My danger comes from raging extremist political views wanting to cull all white people in South Africa. Shit, now I have to worry about drones too, what does a bazooka go for nowadays? ;)

Now for another statement from AC that will generate disagreement. I feel safer in Mexico.
I won't argue with you on that. You feel safe where you feel safe.

In America, the only places where you need to feel any fear are the war-zone areas in the inner cities. Outside of those areas, the violent crime rate is lower than Europe's and you are utterly safe. Unfortunately, if you are unfamiliar with a city it is hard to know which areas are to be avoided. I grew up in one of the neighborhoods in Chicago that you should avoid; I know I avoid it.

I suspect that many Europeans think that America is like Baghdad in 2007 with running gun battles going on continuously, nothing could be further from the truth.

All this talk of shooting intruders in your home has gotten me to agreeing with AC. I would not arbitrarily shoot somebody coming through my door, that would be the last resort.

you need to quell that kind of thinkin bro. anybody trying to gain entry to your house is definitely up to no good.

it doesnt matter if they are a 12 year old "child" or a gang of thugs, once somebody gets to kicking in your door they have moved past "lets talk about how big a mistake you are making" and squarely into the realm of "Pop Pop Pop Watchin Motherfuckers Drop."

if the bastard kicks in your door, and your shotgun causes them to reconsider their plan, which could be as simple as "gonna steal some food from your fridge cuz im hungry" to "gonna have sex with your corpse", YOU may not be their prey this time, but they WILL find somebody else to victimize.

best to solve the problem early.

That doesn't happen as much as they get the drop on you.
I dunno, in my own house I feel I would have the advantage even if they got in before I was ready. There is always the .38 revolver between the mattress if need be.

I don't disagree with you, Kyne. Every situation is different but I am going to be slow to take somebody's life. If immediate action is required then I am willing to take that action but if a few moment's consideration is possible, I will take it.

Let me relate a story that happened in a town near me. A guy, drunk on his ass, is pounding on the back door of a house occupied by a young husband and wife. The husband arms himself with a .40 caliber pistol and goes to the back door and shouts for the intruder to go away. The drunk guy continues his assault on the door. I think the door broke, but I am not certain of that detail. Anyway, the young husband shoots the guy in the chest twice ending his life and preventing next morning's hangover. It turns out the drunk thought he was at his own home. The young husband was not charged with a crime, but that incident has to hang heavy on his thoughts. If at all possible, I want to avoid something like that in my own life.

Well, buckle up. That is a real problem, compared to this.

The 3 times I had a home invasion, I needed a gun in my hand, but too late.

Twice it was a ruse that got me to open the door, and once I found the sliding door in the process of being opened, by a very large hand and me quite nekid, checking locks.

All three were very dicey situations and in one people got hurt. I used my wits, and prevailed, but I would have needed to open fire immediately in all three situations. They were all armed.

You are not scared yet.

holy shit, you are a savage...

It's different now. The federales won't take bribes and the municipal forces will get tossed out by the military if they are corrupt. They are desperate not to scare tourism away. BCS is safer than most US states. Same in the other areas where tourism is important. Puerto Vallarta is safer than most US cities. Tijuana and Nogales are for the bold.
you are prob right but I keep thinking there are places like 'run and snatch' missions by local rebels who are demanding ransom on heads. Maybe tourism hits have taken notice to the indigenous people as well as the smarter and more inclined tourists. A person has to remember that guns are almost illegal in Mexico and yet that local sports a murder-per-capita that rivals Iraq.

I believe in guns because I want the criminals to know that the law and the law abiding citizens are not going to take ANY shit. In another comment, I would say, why is the youth sometimes so dumb. Have times become so dispirited that we are all into personal defense when the local yahoo wants a little steal to come up?

see... this is how you shoot your eye out (or someone elses).. Our mothers probably told all of us this when we wanted our first BB guns. :joint:

Gotta love Christmas story..

have YOU ever been so drunk you kicked in your own door?

i know i havent.

if he had opened the door or waited for the cops that "poor innocent intoxicated person" who was already violent enough to kick in what he thought was his own door, would almost certainly have gone apeshit on whoever was inside for locking him out.

dude made the right move.

Maybe so. I am not going to criticize his decision, that isn't my point. All I am really saying is that taking another person's life is not something I will do lightly, and I am not implying that you would.
