High thc anxiety / panic

What causes it? High THC bud, duh!

I've had that experience before, in fact at one point I actually quit smoking for a while because of it. I've found that smoking less at a time or less strong bud obviously helps, nothing wrong with being a lightweight. Also adding some CBD in the mix, either a hybrid with at least a few % CBD or just mixing some CBD-rich hemp when you're smoking or with edibles, works for me to reduce the anxiety.

I vaped some 27% thc purple buds, they are fruity, full of crystals and when I hit it, I felt a panic attack coming on, heart rate increased. I’m just wondering what is the best way to deal with the symptoms and what causes it.
Go for a walk in a comfortable area, put on some chill music, drink lots of water, call a good friend who doesn't mind your rambles and have a silly chat. My highest doses don't have that panick feeling. But every now and then a strain hits funny and I need to reign it back in. It is usually just new strain that I hit too hard.

Take some Benadryl or have a little wine or a beer can help too. It's often dose dependent so use a little less the next time or take a little Benadryl until your tolerance catches up.

It's sympathetic nervous system activation by the endocannabinoid system via the glutamatergic neurotransmitters. If you care for a deeper dive here you go:

Uh-oh. I'm suffering from the same problem and the panic attacks have taken over my life. It all started 1 day when I smoked some high potency weed and I haven't been the same since. I even went to the hospital because I thought I was dying. I've been suffering from weed induced panic attacks for the last few years now. At 1 point I was having panic attacks back to back all day long for months and months and it only got worse and worse. I can't even leave the house anymore due to how bad the panic attacks got. It's really messed my life up. It's ruined my life. The only thing that helps me to get rid of the panic attacks is by drinking alcohol. The doctor gave me some Benzodiazepines but I haven't bothered taking them because I heard if you drink alcohol and take them it can cause your breathing to stop. All I can say is over the past 6 months my panic attacks have got a little bit better and I don't get them as much now so there is Hope. But when I smoke too much weed I still do get the odd 1 or 2 panic attacks and I still can't really leave the house that much. The panic attacks have gave me Agoraphobia and I'm not sure how to fix it. I guess it's a mental health problem I will have to deal with for the rest of my life now. I'm just glad the panic attacks are not as bad as they were 2 years ago. Sometimes I even have panic attacks when I'm not even smoking too. The worst part of having a panic attack is feeling like you are dying everytime you have a panic attack. It's the worst possible feeling Ever. If you ever find a real fix for the panic attacks let me know because I am desperate to get back to normal again.

I'll second the cbd recommendations. I keep a cbd plant around just for the purpose of mixing with high thc buds. It not only keeps the paranoia away, it helps with my old bones creakin.....win win!
Wifey prefers the cbd stuff straight....seems it always has a decent amount of thc anyhow.

Ugh, I feel for you...I went through a similar thing several years ago, it came on very suddenly after taking too much edibles and fucked me up for months...

Tbh what worked for me with the panic attacks was realizing that they're not going to hurt you, it's just your body's sensory systems overreacting to some minor stimulus (or nothing at all), and affirming that to myself every time I felt one coming on. One day something just kinda clicked and they stopped or I was able to control them. Easier said than done and doesn't really help with generalized anxiety symptoms, but it's what worked for me specifically when it comes to panic attacks.

That, and abstaining from weed and caffeine for a while, basically anything that makes your brain run faster or be in any sort of high alert state. Alcohol can help in the same way as benzo's, but you're going to be better off if you can mitigate that panic feeling while remaining sober.

Also, talk therapy can help a lot, especially with more generalized anxiety, but I understand that's not accessible to everyone. Good luck to you, anxiety/panic disorder really sucks, and I hope you're able to find something that works for you.

I vape small amounts at a low temp and that helps. I don't get stoned I just get a nice chill head buzz and I can still operate. I vape around 325f and no matter how much I smoke I don't get that couch lock panic attack anxiety. If anything it relieves my anxiety.

Why do you smoke weed if it makes you feel terrible?
