Hi NEW AFGHAni GroW could USE HelP!

ok, ive moved the bigger plant to the larger box, and will be cutting a clone within the week - i want to see if i can get a little more length out of the branches first. I will then be using the pc case as a clone garden as suggested. Why are some of the cfl's orange and some blue? Which is best for which part of the grow cycle?

the orangy colored one is for flowering and the blueish white is for veg cant be easier than that...lol lets see mommys new home...
 
Here is a couple photos of the plant in the new box - obviously i havent spent the time to organize the wires or cover up the blue tape.... but here we go for starters, wat do you think?

If you're only using CFL's you Should probably move the light quite a bit closer, You want it as close as possible without burning your baby. Use your hand as a guide, If it won't burn you it should not burn your plant. (keep growth overnight in mind) I've only used cfl's in first few weeks but more light is 9x out of 10 better. looking good so far good luck.
 
lol yeah after i put the plant into the box, it looked so small and lonely! i'll have to put it on a pedestal of some sort to bring it closer to the lights. But, I am trying to get a little SSSTTTRREEETTTCCHHHHH out of the plant, so I won't put the plant toooo close. Do you suggest I get more of the "orange" lights? Do they make them in higher wattage because all I found was small ones........ oh right and the other thing is i decided to put lights at the top, and the bottom of the box, to try and get those stubborn little underbranches to grow out. Will this work? I need to cut a clone soon, but its all so small right now!!! Grow baby Grow!:weed:

are you flowering?? how long in are you now if you are?? food for thought... if you cut clones now... your going to slow down some of the growth to the clones and also the mommy....it could possibly affect the rooting of the clones too so just keep thgat in mind....
 
well when do you think i should cut clones? I just put it on 12/12 2 days ago - no flower action yet. I was thinking i'd cut just one clone, since the plant is so little. why exactly would cutting now slow down growth? is there an optimal time to cut clones when it wont slow down growth?

And what about those orange lights? Do i need more?

another question - now that i have more space, should i throw it back into veg for a while? I vegged for 4 weeks, in a very small computer case. I do want a micro grow, but now that i've got more space i could let it grow a bit bigger, unless of course you all think its going to take off once its been in flowering for a while. My plan is that if it gets too tall, i will tie it down or put up some chicken wire to train it to grow horizontally.

looks like you have a pretty good handle on shit. i would go ahad with the flowering process, if for no other reason than impacience :) a ScrOG might be good for you, look around on here, there are plenty of shining examples of how to get big yields from minimal heights. also, i think you are going to be pleasantly surprised with your little plants growth in flowering.

on a completely unrelated topic: i was trying to upload photos of my grow last night but it wouldnt work. do you use a proxy for that? if so,which one? i think the proxy was at fault for my problems. im gonna try again tonight.
 
SCRoG you say? That sounds pervy... i'll have to look into it :)

I dont use any proxy to upload, just clip the little paperclip, get the box, and browse to the photo on my own computer and click "UPLOAD" !

Again with the clone tho - should i just cut one now or wait until i can get a good bit of length from one? And the orange lights .... do I need more of them? And why are they so small compared to the blue ones???

i would go ahead and chop your little clones now before you get any further into flowering. speaking of flowering i hope you decided to keep going with that because i was reading last night that flip flopping your light schedule can lead to SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION (could also be construed as a bit pervish) what that means is more hermies, which is not what you are after in this particular application, or any other application for that matter.

arent you paranoid about Big Brother seeing what kind of photos you are publishing on the web? he is watching you know...
 
me and big bro' have a long history ;)

herb was just decriminalized in my state... and my particular town, as well as dozens of others, have announced that the new law is so abstract, and obscurely written, they will not be enforcing any penalties for those who are not in possession of a criminal amount. WOOHOOO! One of the main issues they were at odds with was how to charge for growing plants - do you weigh only plant material or the soil as well, do you only weigh buds, etc etc. So unless I've got a giant weed tree growing out dime bags already sealed up, i'm good! Another issue is, since it isn't a "criminal" offense, a police officer has no right to demand any Identification. So, he can write me a ticket for that 100$, but i'll be telling him my name is Mary Poppins.

wow, congraulatins. In my state if they find my plants they will promptly bend me over andviolate me. then throw me in jail for 15 to 20. seems a little extreme, huh? i wish that even one of the neighboring states had a good policy, i would move there. unfortunately I was born into the bible belt and damned to roam here for all of eternity, kind of like Cain i guess.

sorry i never answered your question about the lights, I meant to address that in my last ramble. I guess I didnt because either i was high, or I knew I couldnt so I chose not to ;) I dont know ANYTHING about growing under a CFL, never tried it. never plan to. I heart HPS.
 
i went again and looked for "big" (100 watt equiv) 2700k light, with no success. I can only find them in 60 watts or less.... annoying!
I did get that root grower stuff... but no peat squares to grow the clones in, is there a way to do without the special peat or whatever to get those roots going?

yeah yeah whatever. We aren't all bad. There are plenty of dipshits, but it varies greatly by city.

The only place I have "heard" of people finding those lights is Lowes. cant you just get together 75 bucks and buy a little 150w hps?? you will be so much happier with the results! CFLs are cool for your computer case veg but you gotta go HID for the flowering room.

As for the clones, go to the nearest hydro store. You can buy 50 rockwool cubes for 5 bucks. make sure you soak them for 24 hours in 5 ph water cuz the adhesive in them apparently is very alkaline (has a high ph) and your clones wont like it. clip them and stick em in the rockwool cube, then put a gallon ziplock bag upside down over that whole thing to serve as a little humidity dome.
