Well it's a pretty hardy plant, and most plants can tolerate temperatures pretty close to frost, I can't imagine your basement dropping below 55-60 F so it should be alright. I haven't grown in a really cold environment but it does grow outdoor in the mountains....

I've got 2 plants outside in the 40 degree for a week now, and they're fine.
I understand they can take mild frost for a bit, but heavy frost or snow you should try and cover them and keep the roots warm as well.

lol Not everyone is quoting from something they've read
Like me. I said my 2 plants are outside in 40 degree weather, and the Indica seems to be growing faster than it did with 70 degree nights.
If Laney pops in, she has mentioned some frost experience where her plants survived.

Like others have said, if it's in your basement then it shouldn't be that much of a problem. Honestly from what I hear from a lot of people is that when it's flowering they actually like it to be cold the last few weeks at night because it gives the buds a better taste/color. I don't know that for sure, but that's what multiple people have said.

I find my Indica dominant strain handles colder temps better aswell

I live at 3500ft Nor Calif. and if it drops below freezing you just go out before night fall and cover over the top to keep the cool air from falling on you're plants.
I've just covered with a trash bag keep the weight off the girls and you'll survive the first few hits just fine if it snows shake them off and get them dry and harvest.
Be careful handling cold plants the tricks damage easy. But you should be harvesting in time I'm coming out 2 weeks early.
Did you say what your growing I'm stoned but Indicas like the cold and mature faster than Staivas most the time for me.

How much they can take has a lot to do with what age they are. Older plants will tollerate much better. If they are in pots get a couple of heating pads on very low and put under the plants this will keep the soil warm and as long as you dont get a freeze you will be fine. Simple fix to the prob
