Help choosing most efficient cobs

The biggest benefit is you can use the driver remotely and mount it outside of the tent. That removes another 20w of heat from your grow room and allows to use more light.

Correct! But in the same vid you can see a HLG-185H-1400A to drive the 4 COB's on the bar in once. A version allows 50-108% dimming via build-in poti HLG-185H-1400B has two separate dimmer wires for an 100k potentiometer(or PWM or 1-10v dimming) and allows dimming down to 6-10%. It is also 4% more efficient like 4 HBG-60-1050 and you can get them for ~55$ shipped. It's cheaper, more efficient and easier to wire and the round heatsinks could be mounted to a frame to create a more stable 225w fixture.
A CXB3590 at 1050mA is by the way only 37w you would need the 1400mA version for CXB's(50w). 1750mA version if one exsist has probably not enough voltage. 60w : 1,75A = 34,3v and a CXB needs at least 35v or more at 1750mA. A CXM22 would match much better with a HBG-60-1050...
but for the Luminus CXM 22 the HBG 60-1050 is the right driver
So you're still planning on running one driver per COB?
Yeah im still trying to build a mad setup with all single driver cobs like in the video above.....something similar to that.

You could slightly longer wires between the COB's to keep that flexibillity. Such a frame is not a must have..
yeah we'll see......Still think im a go with the single Driver beauties hanging from the top.....Something similar to this......just with reflectors......21x lamps in a 8x4 + 8 lamps in a 100x100cm tent.
We'll see what happens my brothers!

Why? It adds additional cost and additional complexity, and will give you less light per watt. Multiple people are advising you against it. Don't make a mistake just because you got attached to your original plan.

I need to be able to be flexible, plug and play. Pull em when i need to, you feel me.....don't like the idea of the fixed rail all on a few drivers it is to stationary......when i need to pull the plug i literally just pull the plug.

There are many other things which are more important. The only benefit is the flexibillity with the hanging height but you need more rope ratchets and each driver needs its own powercord + plug. Most of the time we try anyway to get an even canopy so the different hights are only needed if you have big sativas next to small indikas and even that can also be done with 4 COB bars. With all COB's at the same height you get much better uniformity across the canopy.

At 65w each of these drivers release ~6,5w of heat into your grow room with 21pcs that's already 136,5w.
You could use 20pcs CXM22 COB's and 4pcs HLG-240H-48A(5 COB's in parallel, ~265w at the wall, sometimes 280w) to make 4 indipendent 265w bars. Each bar could be hung at its own height if you want so you get almost the same flexibillity and you can remove the heat released from the drivers which is IMO the biggest benefit. One could figure out how much more airflow it needs to remove that heat. Maybe you'll need a 6" exhaust fan instead a 5" one. Maybe you need a humidifier too with so much heat air tents to dry out quickly and with a high VPD you can quickly become problems.

make sure you use bjbs if you want to mount reflectors- the mechas lack the 3rd and 4th hole for the reflectors with ideal holders

If you're talking about tear-down, pulling 20-22 plugs is in no way easier or faster than pulling 2-4 plugs. If you're talking about reducing the amount of light, it would make far more sense to dim the driver. So I'm still wondering why.

Hi! I was like you at first I wanted 4 independent lights to spread the light as much as possible! I ended with cxb3590 3500k with an HLG 185 1400b...i just use 4 heatsink you don't have to put all your COB on the same heatsink and since you can dim it very low it is ok for seedling to flower! There is NO difference between my diy and what you show us from tgl(except I can't switch off 1 COB only 4 at a time but as I said you can dim it at 10% so 20w!)

Where do you mount the external heat sink brother?

You can buy heatsinks with a m5 thread on top. This means you can hang them independent, withought a frame and you don't have to use lots of hbg drivers.

Hbg drivers are great , a hbg-60-1050 with a cxm22 runs 80w max.

E2a lots of soldering needed with the hbgs

I know your not a fan of these but whats your thoughts on this driver compare to the HBG 60-1050:

Same series but with up to 2Amps at 48vf. Can be used but you need probably a bit more distance to avoid issues. With 100w COB's I would start at 24-30" and than reduce the height slowly untill I see signs of heat/light stress. I dont know if 48vf is already it's maximum but most 50v COB's needs more than 48v at 2Amps.

Another thing my OG-LED Brothers......Anyone has any experience with the heatsinks from King Brite LED on Alibaba.
Viv Lu making me offers for CLU-48 heatsinks that also fit the Luminus CXM22??
Any experience with those dudes from china?!
