Growing with Guns... What is your take on it.

Man...talk about feeling like a sitting duck. If your place has been compromised...leave! If you have no way of protecting yourself, how can you feel at ease? Fucked up situation. If you can legally own a gun shut down the grow and pick up a nice comfy AR...that's all the insurance you'll need. Truth is even if you no longer grow there...some assholes are out there talking up a storm. Do the smart thing.
Not everybody can just up and leave their house. Eventually I will move but at this point in time I can't and I can't just shut down my grow either this is how I make my living. I am a legal grower, I should not have to run. I have put up 8 cameras with the option of up to 16 around my house plus 2 peephole cameras. I got reinforced steel doors with top rated locks and kick in bars. I have also put up bars on my windows. Anybody including the police would have a hell of a time getting into my house right now. And if they did get in I just got a 5 foot 200+ lb safe. My cameras are hooked up to the internet and when I set it up I will get email alerts on any cameras I want to and can use motion sensor recording on all of them and I can look at live feed on my phone, tablet or labtop at any time thru an app. I can see a full block in both directions down my street so anybody creeping up I should notice and be able to give a description of the car. I expect them to come back and I will call the police when they do and say they are armed whether they are or are not. I would be willing to bet the police would be at my house within 5 min. and I have a hard time believing they would be able to figure out a way in my house in that amount of time. Until that time comes I will make sure I am always in my numbers legally speaking and always on guard. But fuck these motherfuckers, karma is going catch up with these assholes and they are going to rot in jail or end up dead if not by me by some other person who isn't quite as nice.

image.jpgGot 2 dogs they work good together never had any issue with break ins or robberies. They aren't just my protectors they are my companions and provide a ton of comical entertainment. I own guns too wouldn't hesitate to use them either if I go to prison for protecting me my gf and her kids then so be it. In the eyes of 12 of my peers I'd hope to have 1 or 2 that had been burglarized and wished that there was something they could have done.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I dread the day I have to deal with what your going through.

Regarding the firearm, probably not a good idea at all. I don't know your states law about resident to resident transfers or other other non FFL routes but that seems the only way to obtain a firearm without committing a felony. I could be very wrong about that.

What I do know is that any purchase through a licensed firearm dealer will require an ATF form 4473. http://www.atf.gov/files/forms/download/atf-f-4473-1.pdf
If you look at section 11.e you're pretty much disqualified. If you had to use the weapon then it's a possible felony charge with a 5 year term for knowingly falsifying the form.

I would recommend a dog, one that would die for you. I have a friend that has a business that gets every local hood salivating just thinking about robbing it. He has one of these on the premises 24/7 and he's a great deterrent.

If you don't have kids it would be an idea.
. Read 11e again. State gave me a card and considers me legal. Seems lawful to me! State also says I will not be giving up any rights by being a patient. Being able to own a firearm and protect my family certainly is a right isn't it

ATF is Federal law and so is the form 4473. Lying on the document would be a Federal charge, not state. Your state law would not stop federal officers from arresting you and charging you under federal law.

Just be sure and wipe your prints, and replace the robbers prints back on it! Especially on the trigger! And wear gloves when loading the clip.

I once had a break in in 2006. I used and still use decoys. For example they got an oz or two, one scale and like 70 bucks out of my dresser. They did not get the half p inside a crate filled with books, the approx. $1500 zipped up in a couch cushion and the sawed off under the cushion. I just said oh well thats why i use decoys. Perhaps by putting a 400w in the closet and leaving an oz or two and a couple hundered bucks nearby might help to fool the thieves. Just gotta be like gee whiz fellas you got me, you guys sure are smarter than me

I'll take my chances I'm Not gonna rely on a dog to protect my family. They make a good warning system and possibly deterrant but they are not gonna stop someone with a gun. 5yrs is worth saving my family if it comes down to it. But I stand by my original statement. I am legal and I shall not give up any rights! Feds have no reason to knock on my door either way. Being a patient is a medical necessity backed by medical records which are supposed to be protected by hippa. Feds have no reason to even know I have a card. Or not have a card for that matter. I only need my dr's cert to be protected under sec8. Therefore there's no way the feds would even know about me being a patient

I hear you bro and it sounds like your doing everything you can. Thumbs up for that.

I recommend getting a dog... another dog. German Shephard and pay the 500 to get it trained. When I say that dog will die for you I mean it WILL die for you and not let anyone 100 feet of your house. Just let him/her sit in the window

If you decide to get a gun ... which I'm not going to give a op on... practice at the range for a while and understand how to use it and like the others said a gun will not solve anything it is simply a ABSOLUTE last resort if your life is in danger. And if you decide to get a gun ... do not tell anyone. That means no one, not even your wife. Keep it unloaded in a hidden secure place.

When it comes to "who done it" ... bro I hate to say it but the truth of the matter is it's almost always a inside job. I know that can be hard to accept when thinking about friends and family but it's a fact of the matter. All you have to do is think "who knew" and then really use logic from there.

Who knew - You where going out of town
Who knew- Out of all the times they could of, why do it then

Get a pad of paper and just sit write and brainstorm. 9 times out of 10 your going to here a DING and even though you might not be able to prove it... your going to have a very good idea who did it.

Change your habits ... or better yet do not form any. Start changing what time you go to bed and what time you wake up. Just get in your car and drive around the block sometimes just to do it.

You said you think they are going to come back and I think that is a strong probability (although let's hope not) unless you show a sign of force and shut up ... telling no one anything from now forward. All the people that you trusted... don't trust no more. I'm not saying distrust them but do stop trusting them. Just be cool for a while and keep your much shut and your eyes and ears very open.

Like the others said and I know it's not easy to do but you should consider moving unless you find out who it is. If you know who it is you can stop worrying about "them" cause you know who "them" is.

Now lastly I would like to say start thinking about the guy who you left to watch your house. I'm not saying he did anything but just stop and really give him and his associates known and unknown a good'ol sit and think.

Did he tell anyone he was house sitting.
How much do you trust him...ect.

Start with him and work you way backwards and when you find something out keep it to yourself until you have the whole picture.

Best of luck bro

I am pretty sure it was somebody who dealt with my old room mate. The guy is an alcoholic and has stolen from me before and his choice in "friends" is terrible . He also knew I was out of town because he picked up some stuff he left at the house when I was out of town. I am not as worried as I was because of all the security I now have in place . I still think they will try again but I can't see them accomplishing anything other then getting arrested because I can not see them getting into my house.
