Burping has NOTHING to do with moisture.

Cannabis gets its goodies from lipid oxidation. The plant must respire (oxidize lipids) to produce its flavor and effect.

Grove bags are a scam in that I could take them to court for claiming to have invented the double layer mylar bag. High end commercial producers have been using 2 ply polyethylene since it was invented. Glass jars have been sabotage tactics like most other online grow info. Sorry kids it was a business move. Keeping yall chasing your tales.
Fascinating articles, can you share how that applies to storage of dried cannabis? It certainly discusses development but reads moot on storage, thanks!

I have never tried grove bags mainly because they are pricey. I do see quite a few people that like them and that makes me interested in trying them. Found some bags that are made by sweet decades on Amazon that were 30 bucks for fifty 1 oz. bags. They are 58% to 62% humidity. These were sold out fast and have been out of stock since I received mine.

So my last harvest has been in jars and bags for curing for about 2 weeks now. I filled 10 bags with an ounce each, 1 bag with 1/2 ounce and the rest went into jars. Not sure how these compare to grove bags but so far i am happy with these. I will give an update on these as the cure progresses.

Please do a 6? month update. It'd be cool to get an A/B comparison.

You have that backwards.

If the RH% outside the jar is higher than inside the jar, opening the jar will not help to lower the RH%.
The jar's RH% would increase.

Conversely, if the RH% outside the jar is less than inside the jar, opening the jar would help to lower the RH% inside the jar when exposed to the outside air with lower RH%.
The jar's RH% would decrease.
I caught it a little too late and tried to edit it…… but yes ……for years I was burping thinking I was off gassing when in reality I was allowing moisture in to the jar …… now I know….. burp it to regulate the humidity. Ty!

Didn't know these things existed until I saw this thread. Just ordered a 10-pack of the 1/4 pound Grove Bags and some 62% Boveda packs. Hopefully this will be $$ well spent on keeping my shit fresh in this desert dump. If not, I blame all of you for pushing them on me.

No need for the Boveda in a grove bag assuming stuff is not too moist going in. One of the advantages is eliminating the negatives associated with bovedas. I still use them for a few days of jarring as an accurate way to gauge humidity.

Wasn't sure if they were things that could/should be used together. Was planning on using some of the packs for some smallish jars. Keep maybe an ounce or so of each strain in separate jars, the rest in the bags. Try to keep me from getting into the main stash every time I want to grab a couple buds.

Cure in totes and Vacuum seal like any vegetable. Just opened one from last season, threw in a hygrometer 52% smells and tastes great. I just stop the Vacuum before it smashes the flower.

Update with the sweet decades bags. So about 8 months ago I placed an ounce in the bag and heat sealed it. I also placed an ounce in a mason jar. I opened the mason jar periodically for about the first 3 months after getting the room humidity up to 60. Very low humidity in the colder months. The result was the ounce in the sweet decade bag was as good or slightly better than the jar. No more jars for me.

So it sounds like you burped the jar but not the bag. Why not try the same test, only don't open the jar periodically for the first 3 months after getting the room humidity up to 60?
Who knows you may still prefer the bags, but it seems like it would be a more accurate comparison if you either burp both the bag and the jar or don't burp either. I never burp my jars.
Thanks for doing a comparison.

I’ve tried multi brands of Mylar and the best combo for me was the dry and mighty bags, I use the xl bags for 1-2lb. you can get these bags for under 1.50neach when 100 pack or under a buck if 500 . I have been buying them for awhile and when grove came out one my friend was all telling me grove was better than my dry and mighty plus boveda 67 gram 62% rh . Thing is the boveda or boost 67 gram 62% when purchased in bulk with bag Dry and mighty ) is cheaper than the grove bag itself.

i tested by buying a few bags from my homie and did exact strain both bags m the grove bag def Wasn’t better and infact having that 67 gram boost/boveda in mighty Def shined in overall quality and shelf life .

just giving my views since I’ve been through many bulk boxes of Mylar and the dry and mighty plus boveda or boost at 67 gram was def better . I also suggest def heat sealing if ur plan is long shelf life storage

as a side note, right before I gift my patient the Offer : do u need a rh pack (boveda/boost)? if they say no than I remove it , if they do than I charge what I pay for em. I can note that the boost last longer and are very good about keeping their rh better and longer than boveda . The boveda for me always seem to fail between 6months-1 year tops
