That's my thought process, you can always dial down an over-powered fan but you can't dial up an under-powered fan past its maximum CFM rate.

Don't run a Maxfan on a standard speed controller, you'll destroy it.

I don't run my silos in tents. But, too much airflow is as bad as not enough. You want to turn the air over, not blast it.

Are we talking about two different things here? Are you referring to extraction of the heat from the bulb in addition to the extraction/air exchange of the space itself? If so I get where you're saying that it's not helpful to have an active exhaust in addition to a floor flan blowing up at the bulb. But I can't imagine that you're saying that in any sort of grow environment that you don't need an extraction fan for general air exchange in the grow space itself. Can you expound a little more please, I still feel like I'm missing your point.

Hey how goes it. it's really just the picture blown up. it's a 6 inch vortex s line ("silent"). it's rated at 347 CFM

the 8 inch is rated at 728 CFM

Go with the 8 inch if you plan to use a 1000w. If your looking at doing it in a 4x4, I would recommend stacking two 600's. That's what I'm going to change my 1kw to. Just my thoughts anyhow

I'm a little confused now to. If I turned off my filter / exhaust my tent temps would go through the roof.

If I didn't have a roof on my tent. Then that's a different story.

Since I run bare bulb, moving the air is the same as moving heat. I draw cool air in the bottom, it rises up past lamp and plants and out the top, or out past plants again.

Cooling the air in that larger space can be done with traditional AC, or in my case I use water cooled air handlers to cool and dehuey the space.

I think I remember you saying that you don't have tops on your stacks, so now this makes so much more sense. But don't you have an extraction fan and scrubber for the entire room that you have your silos in if for no other reason than to control the odor?

I didn't know that, is that similar to how you often can't run a controller below about 50% on some of the more cheaply constructed inline fans because of their design?

In order to get high speed they went with a brushless motor design. That's fine, but they don't tolerate normal speed controllers. You need to get a VARIAC type controller, or maybe they have a high and low speed switch now.

I dig it, that's what I thought. I'll be honest, I've always used a range from really cheap POS chinese inlines to CANS with the same cheap ActiveAir fan speed controllers without any issues to speak of. I just never go anywhere below about 70% because I'm usually not working with that much more overpowered a fan than I actually need, so maybe that's why I never had any trouble. Good info, thanks.

That's really interesting, do you have the scrubber hooked to an attic fan or something? Don't mean to be so nosy but I'm curious about your setup now.

I've been thinking of doing something similar. But It would just be the grow room. Not the whole house haha. The only thing that's stopping me is that my veg tent might give off some light leaks or do you think I'm thinking too much into that?

This is because my whole house is part of the circulation system. The chiller in the office, aka air intake, heats the whole place.

How about all CXB3590 COB LED bloom with 315W CMH veg, all cooled by a chiller with hot gas recovery handling the dehuey and nighttime heating duties. Looking to make it more efficient than anything else indoors.

Meanwhile here's a vert lamp I diy together.

Cant seem to buy one anywhere at the moment and the one I could find. I have to play around with it anyway.

I figure I probably don't really need an earth on it, but hooked it up to the hanger anyway.
