They were broke because of the flawless leadership of Dubya.
If you are under some kind of illusion that Dubya is actually capable of thinking by himself them forget it, he was a TOTAL puppet...probably so dumb he wouldn't know how to piss his own pants.

Blaming anything on him is like blaming a retarded child for their parents actions.

Although the thing we should all take from this is Obama hasnt managed to do anything better...he even claims to be part Irish but drinks a pint of Guinness like a little bitch.

obama has put more people on foodstamps "over time"...how about that...

14.9mil over 8yrs for gwbush

14.1mil over 3 years for obama...you do the math...kthnx UB...
Obama didn't "put people on food stamps" anyways. Most of those people are on food stamps because GW Bush let his corporate friends steal trillions of dollars and crash our economy. When that happened people lost their jobs and needed food stamps.

All this talk of Obama putting people on food stamps is cheap political rhetoric. People should not be buying into that bullshit.

Yes, if people got fired because the banks got too greedy and crashed our economy, they should be able to eat. I don't think it's appropriate to punish people with starvation for the crime of losing their job due to circumstances outside of their control.

You have to be a special kind of douchebag to be in favor of letting people starve to death because they lost their job due to an economic crash they didn't cause.

Thats a comparison only a fool would consider viable.

GWB took office w/ a booming economy and no wars.
Obama got handed an economic collapse and 2 long assed wars.

Comparing apples to onions man

And the illiterate fucks think we can revive our economy with a double dose of the policies that caused the crash in the first place

He has not kept any of his promises...
nonsense. lower taxes, pre-existing conditions, infrastructure improvement all come to mind.

only a partisan hack or a unrepentant liar would make such a claim as you did.

...I blame the devils in high positions around him...he is under attack constantly from the unseen forces of evil that the Bible speaks of.
...I pray God gives BO the wisdom and strength ...I feel BO does not have the moral fiber to resist evil.
oh, you're high on bible.

that explains a lot.

try telling that to newt, i was simply pointing out that his claim is categorically false.

and as i said in the OP, no president "puts" people on food stamps.

other than that, you are right on.

It took George W. 8 years to totally fuck up your country. Do you honestly think Obama (or anyone else for that matter) can turn the fiasco around in 4 years?

I think people don't quite understand how profoundly our economy got fucked up and how long it takes to fix such things. People seem to think there is some law that can be passed that would immediately fix the economy. That's just not the case. In all likelihood, regardless of who is president, this will take decades to fix.

Let's just borrow and spend some more..... That will fix it!
Exactly the problem with the right. The problems that were created by those that are taking your POV are not solved simply, easily or quickly. There was a lot of damage done, the solutions aren't gonna fit on a freaking bumper sticker. Maybe that's the problem there just needs to be a catchy fucking slogan like Drill Baby Drill for some people

Gutting spending sounds great, sure all those unemployed people don't need to eat or live in a home. Fuck em, let's spend $ on invading countries half way around the world instead. You guys got us into this mess, I hardly think you're the people to correct the problem.

Seriously, it's like asking Michael Jackson to babysit ur kid

Yes, actually it will. That money can be used for infrastructure spending which not only provides unemployment relief that does have a stimulative effect on the economy, but it's proven to improve the long term economic outlook.

Cutting spending during a bad economy has only proven to make the economy even worse.

So yes, lets spend more.

The fact is they all lie to us constantly, regardless of political stripe. It's disgusting, not only that they lie, but that they insult our collective intelligence expecting us to buy their garbage.

No country has EVER spent its way out of a recession, excessive public spending cuts to capital infrastructure investment can work (ie Treaty of Versailles Germany), but adding to the National Debt whilst spending it on war and foreign aid is clearly not the way to revive the economy.

Obama doesn't care tho, even if he's reelected he has 4 years to build up his retirement fund from all the "special interest groups" that will determine the direction of his policy. Pull out of Iraq but redeploy the troops near Syria...not exactly an end to a war as a tactical redeployment.

Notice the suicide bomber reduction since you's left btw?

oh, waw, waw,waw...

it is all obummers fault anyways...

thats what you obamanites do, you blame shit on bush too much

“more people have been put on food stamps by Barack Obama than any president in American history.” -claims gingrich.

http://frac.org/reports-and-resources/snapfood-stamp-monthly-participation-data/

january 2001: 17,233,964 on food stamps.

january 2009: 32,204,859 on food stamps.

bush "put" 14,970,895 on food stamps.

october 2011: 46,224,722 on food stamps.

obama has "put" 14,019,863 on food stamps.

14,970,895 > 14,019,863

10/2011 is the latest report available. based on available raw data, newt's claim that obama has put more people on food stamps than any other president is false on its face.

second, neither president "put" anyone on food stamps. economic factors put people on food stamps. people go on food stamps during tough times. nearly 5 million people went on food stamps the year before obama was sworn in, which mirrored the fact that we were leaking nearly 800k jobs a month at the same time.

third, food stamp recipients are not often welfare bums. many food stamp recipients work hard for a living in shitty jobs to support larger families. more common with wage stagnation brought about by certain policies.

fourth, hunger is a national security issue AND a moral issue. what kind of country lets their weakest starve?

fifth, please ignore the obvious racial undertones in which newt is speaking. politicos call this practice "pandering". it is the same strategy that republicans have used for a while, catering to the bigoted tensions of the more conservative south. it has worked tremendously in the past and is still a good strategy to this day, if you have no moral compass.

discuss.
