A guy I work with used to be in the medical field, working with pharma reps. Last week we went out for a few drinks after work, and we got to talking about health care and whatnot. He tells me about 3 yrs ago he was at a seminar (in Vegas, paid for by big pharma-go figure) and had a chance to talk to some higher ups in the industry. So he had asked how reaserch was going on cures for some of the major diseases ie: cancer, aids, etc. He said they responded, totaly straight faced and without missing a beat(his words)-"we dont reaserch cures, theres no money in curing diseases"... F'ing great these are the peple our health is depending on and the people with the most influence in Washington. Hang em high til they swing in the breeze...
That means it's a conspiracy.... it's not just the US or UK...it's the entire world? Not looking for cures? Wow, I have been naive.

wow, now thats something i wanted to hear. they know marijuana is the cure for cancer. its been proven to destroy cancer cells. the pharmaceutical companys know this as well. makes so much sense. like if a person is cured, they arent going to be buying as many drugs as the person with cancer. damn this country is so fucked.
I would really like to see the studies on 'mj killing cancer cells'. And although pharmaceutical companies are not looking for cures there are many foundations and groups that are searching. Saint Judes, March of Dimes and the CDC(yep a goverment agency) just to name a few. Keep you tinfoil hats in the drawer. Its not a conspiricy. Just big business...

https://science.pfizer.com/perspectives/cover-story/ You folks should pull yourselves away from the bong long enough to do some actual research of your own........hear say and rumors turn into myth. Myth turns into facts. Then the conspiracy begins.... Now I am not saying the big drug companies are saints. They are out to make a buck like the rest of us. But they also do contribute to the research for cures..........

I didn't say "have proved", I simply put up the link. Imho, there is so little solid research out there because of all the gov't prohibitions on cannabis research. We are FINALLY getting where real research is being done. The Nat'l. Cancer Institute even posted on their website an interesting study showing the possible anti-tumor benefits. Just need more research.

Dr. Burzynski and his discovery of 'antineoplastins' and subsequent hurdles he has faced. Probaly as close to a true conspiracy that I know of..........

Sorry but this wont cut it. You take a article from Pfizers own website... hmm thats not going to be (heavily) biased. More like propaganda than anything with merit..

You know, I was going to post a bunch of links about marijuana killing cancer cells, but I don't want to waste my time with you. So many of your posts are borderline trollish. The way you talked about the Japanese to the way you ridicule people right off the bat.

Now you are posting a link from Pfizer.

We will keep wearing "our tin foil hats" and spreading our "conspiracy theories" because we are just a bunch of uniformed fools.

No problem cowboy. The science interests me greatly so I've been wading through the TONS of information and mis-information that are out there. Pretty hard to discern the gold from the iron pyrite, it all looks nice but is it real? I recently read "The Pot Book" released late last year and was amazed at some of the things I read. It is written/edited by a Dr. Julie Holland and is pretty easy to read except for a section about 1/3 of the way through that deals in detail with the medical and physiological effects of cannabis. I read this section 3 times to TRY to wrap my mind around what was being said. Very detailed explanations on how the different cannabinoids interact not only with the body, but also each other. Dr. Holland cites all her references in the back of the book. An entire 78 pages of references, citations, and definitions. Really reminded me of a college text book.

There are also a lot of good interviews with notables such as Tommy Chong, Soma, and others in the cannabis world as well as interviews with gov't. officials, scientists, Dr's, etc. I mention this since she cites several recent scientific studies and trials regarding the possibility that cannabis can stop or possibly regress/cure certain cancers. Sounds very promising, but as she says, only time and extensive scientific study will tell. We may very well have already found many scientifically backed benefits had research been allowed to continue from the 60's. If you haven't read it, I highly suggest it. About $14 on Amazon(I got it from the library). I was so impressed by it that I plan to buy several copies for family and friends and got through each one highlighting the particular areas that apply to each individual.

Like I said, pull away from the bong and do some research of you own before adding to the hysteria of conspiracy. http://jama.ama-assn.org/search?fulltext=drug+companies+and+cancer&submit=yes&x=14&y=15 Athough I know this may take a bit more effort than just flapping your gums. But if your going to flap your gums might as well flap educated gums.
Like I said, more ridicule and ignorance. Why dont you say "conspiracy" and "put away the bong" a few more times?

By the way, I cant even read that page you posted because there is a pop up for a pharmaceutical. MADE BY PFIZER.

Anyone with half a brain knows that the major pharmaceutical companies have the AMA in their pocket.

And just to be clear I haven't smoked herb in months. But keep throwing out false insults and ridicule.

Doesn't surprise me at all that the government has done this.
Wouldn't surprise me if the government kept it illegal to grow marijuana but eventually allowed consumption and subsidized all the tobacco growers to provide product and opened there own stores like ABC or State stores sell liquor.

I agree, its all about the money, not the people.

Y'all talking about pharma companies as if polio was the only humble contribution to pharma ever... Check yourselves, really, until you research it, no?

The majority of contributions to scientific research for medical cures comes from university-funded and government-funded labs. One way or another, we, the taxpayers, pay for it, and don't you think for one second that a proportional amount of that money goes back into the system. It only feeds the pharma companies that have a deathgrip on the American political process.

They don't make many cures, western medicine is mostly about treating the symptoms, not the disease.
