True to some extent, but where preventative medicine fails, remedial medicine kicks in. And the same facilities I mentioned also contribute the majority of research to preventative medicine. And while we're on the subject of knocking "western medicine", let's not forget the 98% of voodoo that "eastern medicine" truly is. I'm all for naturalistic cures, but... you get me.

I don't know if this morsel of knowledge has been brought to light yet, but one of main (and REPEATED) stipulations of the patent is

1. A method of treating diseases caused by oxidative stress, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a cannabinoid that has substantially no binding to the NMDA receptor to a subject who has a disease caused by oxidative stress.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the cannabinoid is nonpsychoactive.

You can read all the un-excited technicalities of the patent HERE.

Did not see that. Good to know, but it still sets a bad precedent.

This opens the door for a medical defense in federal court if they actually let you have a fair trial whichh they don't.

U.S. Patent # 6630507

In 2003 The U.S.A.'s Government as represented by the Department of Health and Human Services was awarded a patent on cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants. U.S. Patent 6630507.

Um... if you fight the government and win, then you will have no government. Good luck with that one, because government actually protects all of us from those of us who have no concern for the environment or the people's well being. :\
Ok now I understand...nevermind....I am sorry....I thought you could think

Namaste':leaf:
Sorry greencurl I actually laughed out loud at your statement. The problem is the two choices we are allowed to have are both owned by the same group of people. The money masters. The elite that rule from behind the scenes. All the rest is just window dressing.

Time for a George Carlin quote:

"
I think that the assassinations of the Kennedys and Martin Luther King showed that all of the wishing and hoping and holding hands and humming and signing petitions and licking envelopes is a bit futile"

So instead of just complaining about it, GET ACTIVE LIKE ME. Call and write your congressmen and senators ON A REGULAR BASIS. Pressure THEM to take action. PARTICIPATE in ralleys. PROTEST! UNITE with others because there's POWER in numbers! NOTHING for our cause will change unless more people unite and fight the govt. WE CAN WIN!

Who are you? I love this post! Wow.. I'm planning a letter writing campaign as I type..
Way cool! I'm sorry I can't like this post twice.

Come out of the Cannabis closet people! You will never be able to fight the good fight hiding in a box.

People, people (I mean US citizens)... when are we going to stop talking about "the government" like it's someone other than us? It is actually our government, and your apathy is the only thing that is allowing corporate (meaning private self-interest) entities to exert such perverse control over our government. It's messed up!

Being involved doesn't mean complaining, or funding anti-government (meaning anti-community!) political parties. Being involved means standing up for what is fair for the community as a whole, and not allowing the loudest voices (self-interest) rule in the policy making and regulatory arenas.

Shit!

(Sorry for cursing, I just get frustrated when I see so many good people acting out in such a negative way.)
Bravo.. Come out of the cannabis Closet and be a part of your local government and bring the issues of legalizing for the people up in the public comment parts of City council, Board of supervisors and don't forget you news papers and local web sites.

Do something each week and find others to form support groups!

Considering the people own the government, that's rightfully ours.
I believe that is the idea. That and that it is the domain of the Federal Government to deal with Cannabis and Cannabis products on our behalf.

Nice post.

It's a very tricky process that they're using to get this shit through. They are technically patenting the analogs of certain cannabinoids, but the language in the law allows them to obtain them from their natural source instead of synthesizing them. It's pretty fucked up...
Or it is something the current Drug policy didn't cover since we basically treated Cannabis as useless and prone to abuse and that is as far as that thinking went.
Remember the only Pro-cannabis witness during the hearing on making cannabis illegal Nation wide was booed and Heckled and was not taken seriously.
That was the extent of the scientific testimony against criminalizing cannabis.
So now they realize they missed an industry.

wow America is 2 faced and why would they patent it if it has no medicinal usage
One land many faces..

I'm guessing that there is an anti-ageing potential and this is the only way to grab control while it is still illegal.
This sort of thing makes me think that we have been right to use cannabis all along.
