Before you do anything extreme; "as if", run the portable in there a couple days and see if your rh doesn't drop to 18 to 30.

i also agree with pinner

let your portable run for a few

it should dehumidify the air

however, if you are doing that little intake macguyver thingie thennnnn iono you may have to go with the dehumidifer

well i spent all night messing around with it trying to find the best way to set it up..

i cant do the crazy intake, because the thermostat for the a/c is in the intake, so when i hooked it up, it would draw the fresh cold air from outside the room, thinking that it was cold, and wouldnt kick on the a/c and just run the fan, so in turn it would get much hotter in the room...

so im just going to have to crank up the co2 regulator so that it can compensate for the a/c drawing in fresh air.

i also got the LG 65 pint dehumidifier, which pulls 7.6 amps and 800 watts when it is running, and the ac pulls 1600 watts when it is running..

the dehumidifier and the a/c run about half the time, so in essence i am running an extra 1200 watts on 12/12 (maybe more), which would give me more of a return i think than the co2 will..

however, in my current setup, i do not think that the added light would do me much good, but in a new setup, or a flat garden, it would make a hell of a difference.
plus i am on a time crunch because i have to be out of here in 60 days or so, and the added co2 will hopefully help these babies to finish within 55 days..

hopefully when i move to my new place i will be able to figure out a more efficient way to pull this off.. but for now ill have to make due with my ghetto-fied setup and pay the price for electricity LOL

i also dont think im gonna run the co2, and the ac the whole time.. i will probably run them till about week 6, then break it down and let the buds finish in cool air so i dont lose any potency, and hopefully can get some purple coloring in there...

if anyone has thoughts or advice, i am all ears!

flo have you thought of putting the dehum. , ac and co2 all on timers to match your lights? there shouldn't be much need for them in the dark. Well maybe the dehum but not c02 or ac.

Ok man here's the rub with co2 your constantly worried about fucking wasting it so here it is man. Get 1 hp chiller haven't researched brands here but if someone has good experience with a type let us know. Get 4 icebox's from Hydroinnovations and put in the corners of the room and hook into six inch fans oooo this just got fuckn spendy, oooo and while your at it hook that into the the day and night growzone controller that senses how fast to rip the fans over the heat exchangers. This will create a condition of an airtight room with temp and co2 controll. I'm fighting the same problem and thinking this is the solution.

The dehumidifier runs on a controller so it stays constant, and the a/c is on a timer for lights on, so thats why i was saying in essence i am running about 1200 watts 12/12 instead of the 2400w that the two units use combined..

and pinner, i have already talked about that in several other threads, and i do think it is a great solution as well, but im not going to go drop another 3gs on this grow, and if you havent noticed, i do not use air cooled reflectors

The notion of using the heat exchangers is completely independent of whether one has a hood or not; or is it? Thanks for the help!!

Man you Really should consider a Dual Tube portable AC. They have 2 fans, and 2 hoses, they are designed to draw air from out side, and exhaust air to outside. It would make life Real easy. They are a little less efficient then a single tube AC, but it would be a lot better for what you need it for.

i would buy a mini split ac, that would be by far the best bet, but i cant install it in an apartment, and i dont wanna spend more money on another ac when i already have one.. ill just use a couple bottles more of co2 and say fuck it...

besides, my theory is that if co2 is used properly in the beginning of flowering when all the stretching occurs, it will create more bud sites and in turn more buds.. i wont be using it the last 2 weeks so its only 5 and a half more weeks till it all gets broken down anyways.. i figure ill use about 8-10 cans of co2 in that time frame so its really no big deal...

anyone else feel that running co2 for only the first 6 weeks is the best way to go?

I think its a good plan, but just pump the c02 the whole time. A 20lb tank would last a long time anyway, and they are cheap as fuck to rent and fill. I would just use the C02 the whole time.

I do agree though, using it in the beginning to tighten up the node spacing is a Great idea!

i guess i could run it the whole time, just drop the temps to like 80 instead of 87-89 like they are now.. they wont utilize as much co2 but should be a little frostier and more potent.. i have heard that higher temps degrades co2 and hinders resin production, but who knows for certain..

and i wish the bottles lasted a long time, really they last about 4-5 days in my room LOL sucks..

but thinking back, i spent 450 on the controller, 220 on the co2 reg, 250 on two tanks, and 240 on the dehumidifier.. so that comes out to about 1200 roughly.. plus it will probably add 100 dollars a month (2 months) to my electric bill, plus about 10 tank fills at 25 a pop so that comes out to 1750..

so in reality, it only needs to help produce about 5-6 extra ounces to be cost efficient..

if we go off the last yield, which was about 56 ounces give or take, adding 20 percent to that would be another 11.2 ounces, putting me at a grand total of about 67 oz, or 4 lb 3oz.. i think that will be achieved for sure.. i have pretty much one strain in here, and i vegged them out much larger.. if i hit 5 or 6 ill shit a brick LOL

its just a pain in the ass spending all this up front and having to deal with all the engineering involved... but i do like it LOL i was born for this shit

ya when i get to a more permanent place, i will definitely want to get a water cooled generator, those are slick haha

LoudBlunts

hahah ya damn addict

i show you one water cooled something and you want it all!

(me too)

but i was just talking a regular co2 gen....but i guess if the watercooled co2 is cheaper than most co2 gens....why not and plus its cooler

i cannot wait for the air coolable co2 gen and also the mini co2 gen for my cab

sickness

the key would be to somehow figure out to keep it cool enough, so that when the gen came on, it would actually be cooling your room... man i love this water cooling idea, its cool LOL

You could cool the water for the water cooler...lol.. Buy a mini fridge and put a few coils or copper pipe in side. Then just run your water through the copper coils in the mini fridge for an Extra Cold water cooled C02 generator. :fire:

Thats so genius I may have to go rig one up for myself...ahahaha.

wait, are you serious?

you havent heard?

* hydroinnovations.com/pdf/16_PAGE_PROOF_THREE.pdf

page 4

apparently the Hydroinnovations have made something like the icebox called the icecap that will do the same thing as the icebox but for the hydrogen if im not mistaken!

shit is getting reallllllll nasty in the grow gadget arena

LoudBlunts

oh yea flo....they supposed to be giving it away with all orders of the hydrogen until supplies last. then they will start to sell

i think the hydrogen is like less than 400 right now!

hydro inovations have heat exchangers for them now and they are free w pur while supplys last

100 % heat free and will even cool room a bit

water cooling is great but.
upfront cost is a large amount after adding in chiller, tubeing, all co2 eqip, iceboxes, heat exchangersand everthing i am missing

may have to wait till after you do the whole warehouse thing

i also have look into water cooling and if you are really considering it i would give hydro inovations a call they have a lot of prouducts not listed on there website
such as large (1hp-100hp) water chillers aswell as cooling chillers and are extreamly helpful
