gypsy where ya been man thanks for all the feedback!

i plan to use the 600 watt for flowering and about 250 watts of supplemental 2700k cfl's. i might look into getting a couple 150 watt hps lamps to get some light to the bottom....or harvest the tops first and then move the lights down to fatten up the lower half...

as far as my master plan, for this grow i dont have one. it is a first fun, learning expedition lol. my second grow will be the real run. i am in the process of building a grow tent. have your page bookmarked!

i will have two 234 cfm fans, one intake one outtake, obviously. i am gonna grow the strains i mentioned before...white widow, blueberryXskunk, and violator kush. i plan to veg for 35 days or so under 600 watts of metal halide and some cfl's thrown in once the plants get bigger for supplemental lighting.

then i will flower them out! thinking of doin 6 per cycle.

my grow room dimensions are 38" wide, 60" long, and 72" tall.

thoughts?

i am thinking of adding 20ml per gallon of H2O2 to the next feeding, along with 1 tsp of epsom salt, 1 drop of superthrive, and 1 tsp of grow big. thoughts?

all right everyone get back to me! smokin some amazin trainwreck right now, much love to the RIU community!

sounds good man
Thanks Jonny :)

So I think #3 is also a female, like #1 and #2!! If so that would mean I have a 100% success rate at gettin females my first go round!

I haven't really mentioned the three other experiment plants I have because they are tiny, don't get enough light, and I don't really want feedback on them as they are just learning plants. However, I think the biggest one of them is a male. It is the same strain as plants 1 and two, but the preflowers look like a ball on a stick, as opposed to the teardrop shape of their sisters.

I am not 100% positive about 3 though. Even though the preflowers are pear shaped and look a lot like the prelowers of 1 and 2, 3 is a different strain. So I will have to wait for the white hairs to be 1000% sure, but I trust my gut. :) :leaf:

lucky you, i got 3/4 males my first shot at hydro. Hopin for better luck this time around.
I have a theory. Since the ideal ph for hydro is 5.8 to 6.2 and since the lower the ph, the higher the chance of males, might that explain?

My soil ph is around 6.8 and has been from 6.4 to 6.8 the ENTIRE grow.

This is a total guess and the theory could have holes, but it is worth considering...

It could be blind luck on my part....

soil ph is supposed to be a full point higher than hydro ph. e.g. Hydro 5.8 Soil 6.8 It has to do with the amount of oxygen that's absorbed through the roots in hydro.

See you learn something everyday. :leaf:

So I gave them their weekly foliar feeding on Tuesday. They always seem happy after that.

On Wednesday I watered them. Remember before I was worried that I wasn't watering enough? Well I watered them until I got some drainage from the bottom...it took 1 GALLON of water. But the plants seem really happy.

1 and 2 are just gorgeous girls. They really are. Their pistils are sticking out nearly 3/4 of an inch and are all crystallized and yet translucent. Very nice. They are growing like crazy...when I eventually flower them they are gonna be BIG yielders I think, and hope.

Plant #3 is still not officially female, but the preflowers are SO tear dropped shaped I would REALLY be surprised if I didn't see some white pistils in the next 7 days max. It is growing like mad as well, so everything is good!

Having issues getting pics but I will figure something out guys, I promise!

My apologies about that but rest assured pics have been taken and you will get caught up when it's possible. Grow BIG!

i just
dont have access to the internet reliably. only my phone which cant upload pics!

chopped experiment plant 1 today. 99.99% sure it was male. same strain as 1 and 2 (regular) but the preflowers look like little round balls on sticks. i woke up today and it looked like another ball was growing in right next to an existing ball, i.e. a sack o nuts!

just that quick update. oh yeah. height. day 48.

plant 1 14"
plant 2 16"
plant 3 13"

Yeah the preflowers are forming as the new growth points open up at the tops. So there are big white hairs pokin out right away!

what lights are you using? and soil mixture?
I am using 8x 27 watt 6500k CFL's, one 20 watt 5200k CFL, and two 20 watt 6500k tubes.

My soil is homemade. I combined some premium organic top soil, vermaculite, perlite, and a good amount of peat moss with 1 tablespoon of dolamite lime per gallon of soil for some nice calcium and magnesium.

Any other questions? Feel free to ask!
