I had an itch to try and grow my own medicine. I took some seeds from a bag of mids I had put them in a shot glass for 2 days with water in the dark. Then took the best looking two and planted them in miracle gro . I’ve heard that’s bad to use but ok just for the start . The picture is 3 days after planting . I don’t plan on spending a bunch of money . Plan on transferring them to 5 gal buckets .
What soil should I use for the rest of the grow ?

Any other tips would be appreciated!0DE44787-2F1B-4CA6-9679-3FFC601433C3.jpeg

It depends if the Miracle Grow soil has additives that are Time released. If there is no other treatments for nutrients in it you should be good. I'm a budget Kroger myself and I get my soil from Home Depot. I use Black Magic potting soil it like $16. if you're going on a budget you still need to buy a pH meter and some nutrients. My pH meter was about 30 bucks , and I use Advanced Nutrients Sensi grow A and B which is about $35 together on Amazon . If you take a look at my grow you can see that I do all my own stuff. Just keep a close eye on them make sure there's no nutrient burn if they start to wither I would seriously consider changing out the dirt. Feel free to post any questions and I can try to help you as much as I can this place is full of people they have a lot of knowledge on growing. Good luck! Cheers! -G.I.JOSE

You're going to have a lot of questions, and it's always best to do a whole bunch of research before you begin.

I second that. Read it all twice.

I had good luck on my soil grow using their performance organics mix. But I would highly recommend mixing it 50/50 with Perlite.

I grow in pure coco with a blumat watering system because I'm lazy . It's a lot easier than soil/organic in my experience.

I appreciate the feedback everyone. I’m gonna change the soil for sure . Just letting them get bigger. I’m moving them around indoors to get the most sunlight through open windows. This lets them get about 12 hours of sunlight. I get mixed opinions all over the internet on watering, sunlight, nutrients. How did they do it back before all extra stuff came into play? Water sunlight and prayers ? I would like to get everything from homedepot or somewhere along the lines if that’s not too crazy to ask. Also would it better for my seedlings to be in direct sunlight right now? I want to keep them inside as long as possible . Preferably right before they bud.

FYI pretty baked while typing this apologies for the rambling :eyesmoke:

Updated pic! My first ever pretty cool. Seeing the leaves for the first time .

It's not a good idea to go from indoors to Outdoors especially during flower. Your plants become accustomed to artificial and when you put them out and direct sunlight they have a possibility of going into shock or dying. My opinion is it if you want to grow indoors stay indoors.

most definitely will be outdoors. So when should the transfer take place ? Reading something about the 2nd set of leafs it can go out in direct . I have them in the window open with a little breeze for stem strengthening .

To be honest I just pull a random seed out of a bag of mids I had. One took off like crazy one seems to be healthy but slow . I’m calling the crazy one Corona Kush o_O

I appreciate it. That’s why I’m not keen on jumping into spending a bunch of money . All in the beginning but I’m feeling a green thumb coming along !

On my first grow I had three gorilla Glue 4. I didn't know at the time but they turned out to be a male. So I said screw it and decided to follow through the entire grow even though I wasn't getting anything smokable out of it. I learned a whole lot, I was experimenting with different ways of topping, defoliating, different levels of nutrients, I even split one of them down the middle and take it up to see if it would heal itself. Which it did! So don't let it go to waste of a turned out to be a male. LOL

I'm kinda in same boat as two of u seed wise for my 1st grow. got some ''gorilla glue'' seeds off a friend god only knows what they are haha , hope they dont turn out to be males!! Even if they are the experience u gain Growing is more valuable like GI jose said, good luck with it tho!!

Hey guys...it can be done. My first outdoor grow, girls were started indoor, placed out mid June, brought back in late September due to weather.(NS Canada) She was placed under two 600 w cool hoods to finish, and didnt miss a beat.
The only thing to be careful of is contamination of grow room by outside pests.
Hope this helps.

I'm in the minority, because I don't mind miracle grow.
I have found a place that sells Happy Frog for $17 for a huge 54 quart bag and I like it too.
Miracle grow is fine if you add some small pea gravel too it and mix it up,and flush the heck outta it before u transplant into it.
That's a cheap ez way to get the extra nutes washed out,and make a less hot soil.
The gravel keeps it from getting compacted, and the roots will love u for it.
Best advice I can give u on growing is this:
1) remember it's a weed, its been growing for millions of years ,nothing special about it.

2) Have patience and let nature do its thing.

3) This is probably the most important advice I can give LEAVE YOU PLANTS ALONE!
Worst mistake a grower can do is constantly mess with their plants. Over watering, too much nutes etc etc...best thing to do is find a schedule, stick to it and have patience.
