I know, right. I'm simply flabbergasted at the sheer size of the flowers. I'm already staking the main colas and some of the side tops, because they are falling over from the weight. The next several weeks are going to be really cool as they gain weight and width.
Thanks. The super lemon haze is a keeper. I'm going to run a full grow of it in the next 6 months.

Get some PH up. Ive heard silicate raises the PH. since i seen your juice i add to ask.
I use the same sunshinemix. Try OXYCAL http://www.grotek.net/products/guide/product.asp?code=oxycal
This stuff called rare earth by GH raises the PH. Its a silicate and rare minerials. http://www.genhydro.com/genhydro_US/rareearth.html
I just use AN line its well balanced. Mostly AN and Grotek. AN three part, grotek monsterbloom and vitamax. I use diamond nectar but its acidic and expensive.

That's right. nothing is better than mastering something that will still throw you a curve ball every several months and keep you guessing. Once I've mastered the soil and soilless then there is always hydroponics to keep it fresh and exciting.
Silicate does raise the ph significantly. The dyna gro protekt has a ph above 10. For the longest time I did not have to use ph up, because my base nutes were not at high enough levels. Now i only use a couple of tsps of general hydroponics to get my solution to the right range.
The dyna gro has all trace minerals in larger than necessary amounts, however, i'm planning on adding some glacial rock dust to the sunshine mix #4 to supplement the trace minerals next go around. I conditioned 4 acres of planned beds with the stuff and it works wonders.
In about a year when i run out of pro-tekt i think I'm going to start using a soil amendment to supplement silica and use less water soluble fertilizer salts basically for ph issues. Why not add an additional buffer in there?

It looks like I am harvesting my vanilla kush in about 7 days mm, so about day 57 for me on this strain but I got the really really indicia pheno its not the same as yours, I have about 5-10% orange hairs right now and hairs receded into most the buds. The shade leaves have a golden tinge to them I am pretty sure that means I have some amber trichs, going to get a microscope and check it out today. My best plant so far of 13 strains I tried. To be honest I think I could of harvested it on about day 45.

Hope the harvest went well. I've been very busy, but will post some pictures next watering time (in about a day or two). i want to know what everyone thinks about harvest time. Almost all the trichs are milky, but I haven't seen any amber as of yet. The hairs on the top colas have died back a bit. i'd say 40% or so, but the lower ones are still white. September 2 is 9 weeks on the dot. Will begin flushing for 5-7 days before and harvest. Since I also have the SLH i'm going to double harvest the vanilla kush. Stay tuned for some unbelievable photos.

well I have been harvesting mine 1 or 2 buds at a time since day 60, still a majority of the plant left, I harvested the top cola first as it finished first and I just keep going top down, pulled about 1.5 ounces off it so far. It is good smoke nice and sweet but you wont regret letting it go this long as it is getting stronger and stronger and the buds getting bigger and bigger, select harvest is working good for me.

Thanks riddle. That medium top I cut off will shrink down to about a quarter ounce. It is only 5 1/2 inches long. I think the main colas could be be .5 to .75 oz. a piece.Bravo, looking scrumptous!
I'll post some more in a couple days. Probably will chop next week when we have time.

Very impressive! I'm testing the DynaGro line right now in hydro and am really happy to see that they performed for you in the dirt. I, on the other hand, have 50 days to go.

Very good. 5 vanilla kush plants produced approximately 2.5 ounces/ plant each. A good majority of the bottom buds were airy and leafy so they were made into hash and butter. (The airy buds were not counted in the total).
VANILLA KUSH: Beautiful purple tint on all five plants looks amazing with fire orange pistils. Trichomes galore on flowers, trim leaves and even fan leaves. HOWEVER, the calyx to trim leaf ratio on even the upper bud formations was not to my liking. VK is a very leafy plant. The trim leaves are covered in crystals, but trimming it is very time consuming vs. other strains. The smell borders on the skunky side. Both smell and taste get better with 4+ weeks of cure. It does not smell or taste like vanilla. it instead has more of a citrus smell to it. All and all, I have decided to not grow this strain again.
Super Lemon Haze: Simply amazing. The smell takes over a room when you open a jar. It smells and tastes like like lemon pinesol (in a good way). Very fresh feeling when smoked. Looks amazing too. While the VK is covered in trichomes and pistils galore the super lemon haze seems to have more. It is a shy more potent than the VK as well.
The calyx to leaf ratio on the SLH is great. The top buds stacked on top of one another with very minimal fan leaves on the top 5-7 inches. Trimming took a fraction of the time for the one plant grown. The buds look amazing because it was possible to get a connoisseur cut with little to no hassle and almost no resin loss due to handling.
YIELD: The SLH was grown in essentially exact same way as the VK. The one plant we harvested produced 5 ounces of dense bud material while the VK averaged about 2.5 ounces per VK plant. The largest VK plant produced no more than 3.5 ounces. All flowers that were not dense have not been factored into this total.
So for a total lets say 17.5 ounces.
17.5 x 28.35 = 496.125
496.125/ 1200 = .413 gram/watt ratio
This is a conservative estimate. I belives if lower quality flowers are include it would be around .5 grams/ watt.
