So one of my plants has gone completely yellow (even the buds are starting to yellow) Does this mean she is dying?

This is the one that has been giving me the most issues. I'm not sure if I should chop it now or wait.

I was planning on waiting until Thursday as that will be approx 55 days (50 days for the other smaller plants) of flowering and then go lights out for 48 hours and do all my trimming and cutting on Saturday.

I'll try to post some photos this evening...

My other plants are doing well in my opinion so maybe I shouldn't sacrifice the rest over this lazy no good bitch

Not sure if it matters now that you're chopping soon nywayz, BUT I had a plant do that on me because her roots sucked up her airstone. Wasn't getting O2 anymore and she started wilting away. Fixed that and she perked back up. I have no idea if this is the case with yours, but I assume you look at those regularly anywayz? Either way a few days early shouldn't hurt anything bro

Well I'm pretty sure I know what it was that caused my one girl to go all yellow up top..

I turned my inline fan off a couple of days ago and then left for 5 hours with lights on.. forgetting to turn the fan back on. When I got back to my house I could smell right away that I had forgotten to turn the fan back on.

I'm pretty sure I burnt the hell out of it. I've watered with plain water and will just ride it out until the other 3 are ready to chop down (for space requirements and smell I'd like to chop all at once and hang in my tent with lights out and carbon filter running). The lower buds are still pretty green and the stems seem pliable so if they can push anything else out or mature in any way I'll let them.

Because I toasted up the tops of that one plant like a moron, I went and bought some bubble bags today and will be making copious amounts of hash with 99% of that plant

I've checked the Trichs under a 30x and a 16x loupe and on my 2 more mature plants they are 75/25 Cloudy/clear

The other ones that are about 5 days behind in flowering are only starting to show maybe 1/10 or less Cloudy/Clear

i've read that this strain can be a bit of a couch lock already (mainly indica) so I'd prefer to harvest a little on the early side.

Thursday will be day 55 of flowering. I'll be going lights out on that day and chopping them down on Saturday (48+ hours of darkness).

Took some photos with my cell phone but they are all too garbage to put up. Will try harder next time.

Believe it or not one of the less mature plants is on the far right.. I think she might be expressing a completely different phenotype. She taller and even her bud looks a lot different and smell is more of a cheese smell than the lemon that I get off the other 3 plants. She's also firing off way more pistils

This is the the different pheno I'm calling her the Big Cheese.. (approx day 47 of flower)

yeah I'm not even posting pics of that crispy bitch.. too embarassing.

Oh well. I learned a valuable lesson and am thankful the other three were not as affected by the boner move.

I'm really thrilled with how the other three plants have turned out despite my many other errors but I've learned a lot along the way and hopefully won't make the same mistakes the next time.

Looking good! Looks like you are still more than a week from done to me though... they look like they need AT LEAST 2 weeks to me, though they could ripen up a lot in a week who knows :) patience is worth it when it comes to harvest for both potency and yield. Are you checking trich colors under magnification? Wish I were as close as you -- looking forward to hearing what kind of yield you get off a 400. I haven't grown on a 400 like I am now since my second grow :)

Yes I suppose I shouldn't be so committed to my harvest time. I'm guessing you can tell more from the appearance of the buds?

I have a 30x magnifier that I can't seem to use with any consistency .. the 16x loupe I have is not really useful in my opinion at looking at the trichs (or maybe they haven't developed enough yet)

The best way I've found is to take up close shots with my camera and blow them up on my computer.

I'll post some more photos on Thursday and decide from there about chopping or no.

I've also heard that 48-72 hours of darkness is good before chopping them down. Just wanted to confirm that this is a good idea in case anyone else has heard otherwise.

Have heard some say its a great idea for increased potency. Have heard others say it just delays harvest by 2 days. Either way, can't hurt to try it right?

Hi ottawa, to answer your question about leaving them in darkness before harvest, YES. It is good to give them 36-72 hours of 100% complete darkness just before harvest. It supposedly will boost your crystal production slightly & possibly make your medicine more potent. In cannabis' flowering cycle, during the night hours it focuses mainly on THC & other cannibinoid production, while during light hours, the plant typically uses the glucose it has manufactured through photosynthesis to create proteins and other compounds.

Light (especially intense HID light) causes THC to degrade rapidly after it's chopped, so be sure not to harvest in the same room that your lights are in if they're on. Another pointer is that THC is most potent early in day, so be sure to harvest in the early morning if your schedule allows for it.

Thanks that helps a lot.. I'm going to chop and completely shut down the tent lights and use it for odour control during the initial dry for 2-5 days (Until dry) and then I think I'm going to crack some of those Querkle and Ak-47xBlockhead seeds

Very nice grow, your plants look awesome. I'm in the same boat with my first harvest. I have been told by some guys that did the dark period that they didn't notice any difference so I guess it is like flushing. Some live by it and others never do it. What are you going to keep your temps at when you are drying?

Thanks...

I hadn't really thought about maintaining a temperature while drying... guess I have more reading to do :D

but I don't think I'll mess with it too much.. whatever my basement temp is.. usually between 60 and 68

I'm getting some humidipaks (62%) for my mason jars for the curing process...

I thought the humidity was in the bud from being wet and trying to dry. I didn't realize you had to keep the jars humid while they are drying. Thanks for the link.

i only have one question that couldnt be answered by the looks of things everything else is percfect, are u phin ur water , and if not you should ~_~ cuz there small for 2 months if im correct on their age .. if not my bad, besides that lookin good, heres a tip go buy some worm casting and make a tea and put some carbs in it budcandy or raw cane sugar to feed the benefiacial bacteria called bacilus do some research u wont some frosty as weed like never seen do it air stone in a 5 galon add that shit the bacterias multiply by million and eat the smaller bacterias
