Hi, I been failing in cloning big time. I tried bubble and , rockwool method with nothing but mushy dying stems.

Bubble Cloning kept everything cleaned 78F water temp and kept the stem in the water add h202. All but one survived.

Rockwool humidity dome the temp inside the dome was 84F had the clones under a heating mat mist them 3 times a day.Opened the dome three times a day for airflow to come. Used cloing gel made sure no bubbles. All died but one. Within 3 days.

I used 1 24 watt flour I bought at wal mart.

I kept everything cleaned and cut the clone correctlly. I been thinking it has to be the tempreture. I will try to keep temps in the 72F-76F range. It may take longer to root but I dont see no other way. My strain is Master Kush@

I am trying this method I found online I hope it works!!:hump:

ps. I dont think he used a dome in his article?

So to be totally honest with you dude, get some dixie cups the red plastic ones get you cuttings put one in each cup put about 1/4 in of water make sure there is always water.

mist them at least twice a day, under 24hr light.

and you can put surrand wrap over the top so you get the humidity. But they have to be warmer than mid 70's

bump it up to 85F or so.

that i have had a couple die but thats it no gel or powder just ol' fashion.

but u need higher temps i say they can run at 90F is the max or so.

if you wanted to use soil pellets or rockwool with rooting gel in dixie cups is good too.

But to use what you got with your trays with domes on them and mist 2-3 times a day with a 85*F and you should be golden!!

Probly is a great site bro!! But grasscity shouldnt post links to other fourms!!!

just a fyi to the rollitup world!!!

Hello,

See you have a cloning problem. Dome is not the solution to help all problem. I barely lose clones when cloning and do not use any dome. Important things is; Heat and never let them get dry. Spray some PH water on them here and there when you think they get too dry. (Over watering wont help either) Having a dome will only help keeping humidity but keep in mind it will keep heat as well so.

Do you use any cloning hormone? I have good success using Hormone.

EDIT: Temperature should be the same you use during you re grow : 72-77 (do not let the temperature drop too much because it will slow rooting.)

EDIT2: You should use more then one CFL. (Suggest you to use 2-3x 26w+ 6500K)

I tried using purified water for my cloning, didnt work too well. I started using a "party cup" like you said. Filled with a mixture of peat and nearly nute free soil. I find that the most simple way is the easiest way. I find using soil creates a longer stronger base. I had a Sponge type rooted plant from a shop and it bent over in the wind. My plants I did in soil were never supported, stronger trunks. Anyone else feel that the sponge and other type of materials cause weak plant structures? The average cube is about 1"-2" square. thats all the base your clone will have. Done in a 5" party cup you get a longer stronger base. (PURELY MY OWN OPINIONS AND OBSERVATIONS)

I think a lot of people over complicate the whole cloning thing and that is why they die or don't root. My best success rate was by almost ignoring them, I think people tend to kill them with kindness. A good rooting hormone, decent light, humidity and the right temp are all you need. Let them dry out a bit so you are not drowning them. And patience... I have had clones root in as little as a week, or take as long as 2-3 weeks.

Well I posted the link, not grasscity. I consider myself a rollitupper not a grasscityer. I came across that DIY guide and book marked it though because it is an outstanding DIY guide and works 100%. I fucked around with rooting hormone and trying to root cutting in soil and had a fairly low success rate that took a long time. It was difficult to tell whether I had fully formed healthy roots, or not rooting at all. Some cuttings sat in the dirt for 3-4 weeks, no new leaf growth, but were still green and healthy looking, but upon pulling them up had zero root growth.

This bucket is fairly cheap (i think it cost me maybe $50-60 total), easy to make (took a few hours once I had the parts), and maintenance free. The only maintenance I do after I put the cuttings in is to empty the water out, and rinse the neti pots and foam inserts off after I pot all the rooted clones. No rooting hormone, no watering schedule, no worry. Just a couple weeks and 100% success. I highly recommend it.

The only issue I have had is when I cloned basil plants. They rooted beautifully, but after I planted them in soil the plants all died. No idea what caused that, but that hasn't happen with the 20-or-so marijuana plants i've done.

Well put, I told someone I use a cheap hormone from a shelf at walmart and split it with another grower. It takes care of all my clones for the year and then some. Around 2.00ea person. I said on that thread that it took me 2-3 weeks to root. They made fun of me and rediculed me for not spending $500.00 on chems and equipment like they did. My post was basically showing the EASE and simplicity of cloning for new growers, especially considering price. New growers should NEVER invest hundreds on chems before they learn. Im still using Organics, not chem organics, REAL organics, multch, castings, chicken crap, nectures ect for my plants. I supplement with very little nutes, I spend maybe $20.00 for what I do purchase to grow with for an entire season. 6-12 plants. I always say, its only difficult if you make it that way.

Personally I like riot rooter's or rapid rooters along with some clonex... then I put them in a dwc 5 gal bucket with basket lid, along with mild lucas formula nutrients, within 7 days everything will be rooted.

i also use rapid rooters along with clonex...not quiet 7 days on average but this is largely dependant on strain...7-14 days. gret idea on using the dwc bucket...i got one but have never thought of using it for cloning.

Right, but what do those nutes cost you? thats the real question. I think paying $2.00 for hormone and another $5.00 for medium is worth waiting an extra 5-7 days for roots.

This is all I pay to start my 24 for the growing season. If someone starts more than 24 then that would be a crime. I used to be in Law enforcement on the federal level and let me tell you, The marijuana laws were designed to help people like myself with dissabilities. When someone talks about doing 300 clones, THAT MY FRIEND IS A CRIME. unless of course there under the guise of growing for a collective. Thats another story.

Yeah I think i am just going to soak some clones in b1 and water than just stick them in rockwool. I will do half with dome and half without a dome.

The dome is a few degrees higher than outside around 76F outside is 73F. Yes i do use hormones.

I will try it this way first than if it doesnt work I might just buy a Botanicare Clone Machine see if that works.

I built this cloner and it has worked 100% for me for about 20 clones so far. I fill it with tap water and leave it running 24/7 under lights.

Hey great post on your link you posted. Well done! You said you used only tap water? Did you adjust the ph or just left it. You said the water temp was around 80-85, Do you remeber what the room temp was? or does it matter.

I think mine got mushy and died was because the stem was in the water.

I am interested in your technique because you also cloned Master Kush and had success. It took 21 days but still worked.

I was thinking making one myself, but I just want one that works:) I might just order the “Botanicare Clone Machine and give it a shot.

ps. you did buy a areoponic machine didnt you ? how did that turn out .

i think the mush stems r from rockwool having to much water i had same problem with first clones i took i had them soaking wet second batch didnt have problem
they got mushy right where stem comes out of rockwool is that where yours got mushy?

yeah, well mine got mushy with rockwool and bubble cloning. The reason i think mine was mushy in rockwool was because i had no windows in my room and the humidity was way too high. The temp of my room was in the 90s and thats not even inside the dome. My clones had no chance. I was also using a dome all of them died.

I also tired cloing at 84F. That didnt also work out. I had a heating mat under my clones and most of them died.

I changed my room and have a window the temp is around 76 inside the dome. I will try that out and see how it goes. Hopefully no rot.

i started putting mine right into net pots in dwc and get roots everytime better then i did with dome

I use a cheap powder rooting hormone and I get great results. Someone said it earlier. The key is the constant water on the leaves. I didnt have a mister or a dome and they come out. Its also in the way that you cut it I believe. I read on here that you make a second cut in a water solution (water and some of the rooting hormone) so that there is no air bubble. cut at a 45 degree angle. Also no direct light until you see new growth. and really between 7-14 days its growing again. There was a point when I thought that I had lost them. But they stayed green so I just left it alone, keeping it moist. and they are flowering now.

i use a cheap powder too and works for me too and mist them when lights go out and it helps because when i turn lights back on i can see the change but i skip the cutting under water even though people say u should i use a new razor blade and then scape about a inch of the stem then dip it in hormone
