you got it man. If you find something that works....run with it.

I am really excited myself. I am about to add a third rez into flower. This will allow me to dial in my bloom/gro ratios a little closer to where the particular tray is at in it's cycle.

I am currently running one res. for weeks 1-4 and one res for weeks 4-8. so a third rez will allow me to bump it up to nine weeks. each rez servicing a three week period.

I use Dyna gro for veg cause it works ok and is cheap, I use their bloom formula for 2 weeks in the beginning of flower along with some nice additives but that money I save allows me to keep the shop stocked. Also, I can use the more expensive nutrients more intentfully and cost effectively. I go cheap to go expensive.....strange logic I admit.

More like a traction chair after she breaks every bone in his body !!

The shipping is free so that makes up for it LOL !! Much cheaper in hydro stores FYI. That ebay post is a ripoff artist looking for a guppy.
It never ceases to amaze me how many companies are STILL jumping on this bandwagon.

I am using dyna grow, protekt and mag plus, per feeding chart but slowly built up. Water is tap, through pur filter, sits for a few days.

My plants are showing signs of cal deficiency. I haven't had this before with same regiment but it is a new strain for me (Barnie's Pineapple chunk). But it always possible that a newer pur filter is getting more calcium out I suppose.

Any recs? I do have some Cal-Mag sitting around and was pondering using it in leau of mag plus. But my head starts spinning at all things science and I am admittedly ignorant on what the other impacts might be. I'd greatly appreciate any advice. These plants are proving finicky to nail down and I picked the strain for its ease!!

what is your medium and how much? how much water are you giving? My issues were resolved by making sure I had about 20% run off so that excess nutrients were getting flushed out

Medium is a mix of peat moss, cheap soil, perlite and vermiculite with some dolomite lime in 3 gal pots. Only water once/wk when dry. Using LED which has reduced watering. I water through a halo drip system (manual, gravity fed) until i get some run off. I do also use Drip Clean to keep the tubes clean and it js also supposed to help reduce salt buildup I believe.

This is just my guess but I think the dolomite lime may be your issue. Dyna-Gro Grow is meant to be used in a hydroponic like medium meaning it is not pre-loaded with nutrients. Your dolomite lime is providing Ca/Mg on top of the Ca/Mg already in the Dyna-Gro Grow so you are getting "nutrient antagonism." Too much Ca or Mg will block other nutrients from being absorb. You may want to switch to a nutrient meant for lime soil like Jacks Classics 30-10-10. Or, switch to a soil that has no nutrients in it like Pro Mix or Sunshine mix...

what's everyone think of the KLN product?

i made an aerocloner and did a 1/2 ML /gal protekt (rec 1 ml/gal) and 1/3ml/gal KLN (rec 1/2 ml/gal) [the recommendations are on back of bottle for "air rooted" clones
pH went to 9.0! took like 2 ML of down to bring it to 6.0 area, thought that was strange.. I had cleaned the res with bleach and flushed it out maybe that's what happened..

Here is a pic of what I am seeing. Looks a bit worse in person...

Right off the bat I'll tell you to drop your magnesium additive.

Your tap water combined with 'cheap soil', dolomite lime and a halo-drip watering system could all be contributing to how those plants look at this moment. What is your tap water like (ppm/EC)? How big are those pots? How many mls/gal are you feeding them of 'grow' and protekt?

I agree with this. If you're going to use soil as a medium, you should be using soil based nutrients. The main difference is that calcium is left out of the nutrients for soil and N is provided less through nitrates and more through ammonium and urea.

In soil, calcium is supposed to come from limestone mixed in with the soil before the grow starts, and nitrates produced by bacteria breaking down ammonia and urea. In hydro, you have calcium nitrate, but 0 life in the res.

If you're going to use a hydroponic line on soil, you may as well switch to a fully inert medium as you're killing all the bacteria in the soil anyway with the high nitrate level and low pH.

Thanks HB,

First off, the soil mix is even parts of all the items. The cheap potting soil is 25% of the mix. By cheap i merely mean not MG or something with added fertilizers. I have used this same blend past grows with no issues.

The watering system is just like hand feeding. Nothing automated. I only water when needed. It just allows them to get a slow feed when I decide it is time.

I don't have a ppm/ec. My bad but haven't needed one prior.

My biggest change is moving to LED and adjusting feeding (when and how much to nute) to it. With less heat, plants see, to be drinking less. Past grows, with the same 3gal pots, I needed to water every third day. With LED (unless it is something else), that has been cut in half. For more on that you can look here:

Last feed(Sunday) I used 1 ml of mag plus per gallon per the dyna feed chart. That was the first time i have given the full dose of the chart as I slowly build to it.

I greatly appreciate advise! like i said, looks like a deficiency accd to the old trusted chart but I don't want to fuck them up.

Not to be argumentative churchaze because that is not the intent. But only 1/4 of my mix is soil and I have used dyna in it before with no issues. I think the strain is proving a challenge. I put my germed seeds into MG seed starter, it works great for me. Never had a prob with plants getting hungry while in it in solo cups but they did this time. I assumed bad bag of soil but now I am wondering...

They seem to be finicky bitches but I am determined to get their whims nailed down!

Try watering with less volume so you still need to water every few days. Watering once per week seems problematic to me. My most robust plants, and they're robust because of a great root system, need watered every other day.

Is that the ONLY thing you fed your plants?
