DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

just stained I hope mate although as its my first dwc/hydro grow, I really cant be 100% sure. my root mass is usually surrounded by 20L of substrate. the plant certainly seems to be responding well to the Orca and no nutes treatment..... all photos are of 1 plant, here's my other ladies... in soiless mix.

Every bucket change should be enough, but I'd be adding a bit on the third third day after the res change for a while just to be sure.

BTW. don't forget you can't starve your plants forever. You'll have to give them some nutes soon. Just make sure they are pure inorganic mix.

I know, been playing on my mind constantly, I just cant find totally synthetic nutes or maybe im looking for wrong thing... its all in America but im in UK

You can get dutch master and canna here in the uk, both synthetic. If you go for canna make sure you get aqua vega and aqua Flores it's made for closed recirculating systems. I use canna but only because a mate told me to as that what he uses. Might give dutch master ago when I run out. Don't use the cannazyme it'll make any slime problems a million times worse. I use Rizotonic ,boost (not the bio boost) and the pk13-14 with no problems.

I have to choose from these 3 brands, vitalink (not fussed). ionic (I like anyway from use in soil). canna (i also like from previous use in soil), tho im leaning more towards ionic..... I think... jeez, from not having any to choose from to not being able to make my mind up which one lol. I cant thank you enough for your help.
 
With regards to using the canna boost this is my first time using it and It's quite expensive. I'v read places that it's a waste of money n that all it is made up of is molasses and sugar, But I doubt this. This is because if that was all it is the baddies would of fed off it as soon as it went in the res n gone mental and they haven't,res n buckets r still slime free after bearly a week of it going in.But weather it's any good n makes a difference only time will tell.
 
One question about the nutes. I see sensi grow and bloom have added fulvic and humic acids. Those are organics, but from what I read are chemically stable and hard to break down. Has anyone had expirience with those? Are they safe for DWC slime-wize?

I have pretty much got all AN range and no matter what ive added the slime has returned/got worse... bud candy, sensizym, a and b grow, ... all of em yet ive seen voodoo juice produce tremendous roots n dwc on Youtube

no mate and im I little apprehensive of trying now as well, tho that guy on the tube used the feckin lot in flower but it doesn't say what he used for veg...
 
Heisenberg has said bout some AN products making slime probems worse. I'v never used them and prob never will,wouldn't risk it. His word on that is good enough for me.

Not sure on this one. but the canna nutrients I'm using has them in, Maybe it could be them causing me problems. I do know without brewing the tea all would be lost. I have been thinking about trying a different line so I'll prob look in to getting some without these acids for next time round and see what happens.
 
here's the latest on my dwc .... been 5/6 days since the cleansing and into fresh water n Orca and the results are awesome... one thing I was wondering, can/should I cut off the brown roots or not?

Very nice roots.

I wouldn't cut anything unless they are obviously dead. Lot of my older roots turned brown but are doing just fine. I think notes and/or some of the benies do that. Try taking a spray bottle and spraying brown parts with a bit of pure water. Brown stuff might come off.

the roots are either stained that colour or dead m8, theres nothing on them I can physically remove, the bleaching seems to have done all that. its more of a cosmetic thing for me, unless it may enhance the chance of reoccurrence of the slime
I also dug a little deeper into the voodoo juice product and found its basically 98% water and 2% multi Bacilius so I put 10ml into the 12L res last night (+1ml Orca) and 24hrs on its looking good. gonna do a bucket change tonight and include 10ml of VJ in the mix.
 
Leave them alone for now option gets my vote :)

I don't know if voodo juice has anything orca does not, but if you have it on you, I think it can't hurt.
 
Outstanding thread!!….Question?..While I am having success using the tea with one particular undercurrent system, I am trying different methods with others that I have to ultimately come to a most efficient conclusion. In the setup that I have concerns for, I am running AN (w/o tea) and I am seeing wonderful results with it. But just 2 days ago, I performed a nutrient change (3 part PH perfect, B-52, Voodoo Juice and R/O) but failed to check my inline filter which is attached to my pump that pulls all of my water through my chiller. Nonetheless, it was clogged and therefore my temps ran high for about 24 hours. I checked the roots once I realized this and they were still pearly white but I could see some clear slime on a few of them but just at the bottom where they sit in the water (water level 2"below net pot). I know that the chiller will bring the temp back to normal but my question is do I need to flush with H2o2 or will the fact that I have corrected the temporary problem solve the issue at hand? My plants are 2.5 weeks in veg…..I was trying to avoid using tea and or H2o2 in this particular system just to see what works best….but if I have to I most definitely will.
