They are called calyxes far as i know unless there is a specific term once they start swelling and the previous poster answered the question about the foxtailing.. thats what u are reffering to i believe.
Alot of different strains show these characteristics from what i can see.
Some people say this is sometimes also caused by overfeeding as well.
I push my plants pretty hard so that may be the situation.
But my other bagseed does not do this so who knows.

With DWC, Do the roots have to be grown in nutrients? Like is it mandatory that they grow in the nutrients because theres no soil or something? Or can they be grown in the water regularly and still be fine? Don't nag on me if this question is dumb, just been on my mind the last two days.

Yes, the roots have to be grown in water with nutrients added to it in the correct ratios and pH levels.

Good to know! One more question, What are some average, not to pricey Nutrients I can pick up? I've searched through thread after thread after thread and I haven't found a good answer. I'm aware of there being tons of different nutrients, but from one future DWC Grower to some skilled DWC Growers....What nutrients SHOULD I use? Gimme some product names and where I can get them if you can, this is the last piece of the puzzle besides my seeds and I'm scatterbrained as to what I need.

here some more, This is a local growers strain he calls piss. The one indoors was my clone for sexing and then a seperate one I grew outdoors. the indoor is in my smaller dwc sexing tub.

Thats real nice integra very healthy chunky buds on that outdoor plant man. Good stuff.

The 1K may be to much for the babies man. Im really sorry to see that ur leaves are curling like that.They look hungry like they should but the same thing will happen even with CFL's bro.
Look into making a veg cab or taking over a small cabinet or something u can put a small nursery tray and give them the proper attention they need at such a young age before u transplant them for lift off.
I have always used low wattage lighting including smaller CFL and up to a 150 MH for Vegging. I dont usually break the 150 out unless i need to tho.
I dunno bro it really looks like ur missing a step with ur lighting.
If u look at all the great grows here no matter what their is always a step in place designed specificaly for seedlings.
Whether in a bucket or not. U have to take it easy on um at first.

Besides u dont need all that lamp in veg in this system i promise.
Check out my growtorial im vegging with only 52 watts of 65K cfl lighting on my bucket.Im learning alot from that actually this should shed alot of light on ur situation.

Read it. Very primitive for sure. I did that on purpose for the people to see exactly what they can expect from our type grow style..
Yup only 52 watts of 65k cfl lighting but the point is just imagine what u could expect with all that lamp in a DWC when everything is all dialed in and functioning properly.
I could imagine u saving all kinds of money especially during veg with a few minor and inexpensive changes to ur OP. A 150 will veg those buckets just fine and should be gentle enough on the babies in the process. U could even go with CFL to keep um small and compact before LIFT off.
These things should bring u the results ur looking for man.

Your definitly right man, 1k is too much for veg. I have the lamp set 40" above now and the kids seem to be happier. For my next grow I'm gonna veg with cfl's and flower with hps. How detrimental do you think this curling is? Will they recover? Here are some pixs I took a few minutes ago....I also upped the EC to 1.2 as per the Advanced Nutes feed chart on their website....

You need to start your seed in a medium such as peat plugs, or rockwool. Then when their roots have made it through the medium. Transplant it to your net pot, and place in your hydroponic system.


You want to have the water level at least touching the bottom inch of your net pot until the roots have started to grow down into the water.

Then as the roots grow down. reduce the water level until it is about an inch or two below the bottom of the net pot.

so put the seed in rock wool with no light just water until its coming through then place it low down the net pot with the water touching the bottom of the pebbles and turn the light on , does that sound about right ?? thanks for the help

Right, the pebbles will soak up the water and keep the root zone moist enough to keep the plant happy, but the plant will want more so it then starts to stretch its roots more and more to get a good drink.

Also, don't start using nutes until the roots are poking out of the net pot and into the water. Then start off with 1/4 strength and work your way up every few days till your at full strength.


Other than that, just watch your pH and water temps and you should be good.

Q: i know what DWC is and i have a grow going using Bubbleponics right now (link in my sig). I was going to use 6 DWC 5gal buckets for my next grow. I will be using clones that will root in my mystic cloner. My question is when my cuttings root and i am ready to transfer them into ny dwc buckets how do i go about putting the roots in the net pots? Do i have to thread them through the holes in the net pot? I will be using Hydrogen rocks as the medium. My guess is that i wil fill the bottom of the net pot with a small bit of rocks and then place the cutting in. Then fill the rest of the cup with rocks around the cutting for support. Is that right? I really dont want to set-up another cloneing station for rockwool cubes if i dont have to. Thx and i will add rep for this answer.

Yes, put enough rocks to cover the bottom of the net pot. Then you can just take the clone and carefully place it on top of the rocks, and while holding the clone up right, fill in the pot the rest of the way with more rocks .

Then just place the net pot in your system. The roots will work their way through.
