Well today I pulled four males from the group-- they were looking so good before they started hanging their balls out! I'm disappointed, but still have quite a few plants that haven't showed sex yet, and have at least one confirmed female.
The four males currently reside in my garage where I can't decide if I'm going to make oil, butter, or just kill them. I've been reading a lot on cannabutter, but there seems to be a fairly even number of people for using them and killing them. I feel kind of wasteful just killing them, but also don't want them to ruin my grow.
I need to make this decision soon, but keep going back and forth. Anyone care to share their input or advice? Thanks.
It always is a sad day when you murk the males... RIP Fellas!!!
Lol I'm ruthless at this point immediately down the garbage disposal.
i dont no if its true but i heard of cases where people would visit there male crop and get pollen on there clothing or hands and visit there females and have it pollinate them. I also thought of growing my male outta my group on the other side of my house but i decided a freak accident wouldnt be worth shity butter. good luck to you and gratz on your females!
Thanks Budsmoker. I was a little paranoid about that myself! I made sure not to visit the greenhouse while mowing down those males in the garage. After, I made the cannabutter, I showered and change clothes too before going to water the girls.
So I made the cannabutter, made the cookies with it, and was thoroughly disappointed with the outcome. After thirty minutes and 6 cookies, I felt only slightly high-- like after one or to hits. The cookies were so rich and buttery I couldn't eat anymore. Sooooo, while it was a fun experiment, I won't be doing this again. Live and learn right? Here's a pic of the cannabutter, and a pic of my girls with the girls-- current count on females is 5!
Cute dogs btw! I bred every year and it is true that you can get pollen on your hands and clothes, so be careful with keeping males around. i keep my boys on the other side of my land and never go see the girls after a visit with them. i always shower first. and as far as butter goes, i make it from the leaf and suger leaf from the females and you cant eat a whole cookie! have fun and take care of those girls...peace
Thanks hoMEGROWengurl. Thanks for the heads up with males and pollen-- it's good to know my paranoia is justifiable!
Yeah my oldest dog is 5 and a saint, and the 8 month old(the black and white one in the pic) is very much a puppy. She's rarely allowed into the greenhouse because she tries to jump onto the plants and chew them, and thinks it's a game! She is still very much a puppy, and pups will be pups. It's impossible to stay mad when they give you that cute face! Cheers.
Forgot to post this pic with the others of the fem flowers. This little guy was posted up in a small tree near the backdoor-- I say little but it's wingspan was over 6"! It looks like it has an eye in the back of it's head! Pretty cool looking.
lookin good D. what does the molasses do exactly while flowering? not really sure bout the flowering stage being my first grow and all
Thanks budsmoker. From what I've read here, molasses basically contains nutrients that help positive growth of microorganisms in the soil. So basically it helps the plant indirectly by making the soil medium a healthier environment for growing. Some say to use it throughout flowering, others say towards the end. I've have yet to find any info as to which method is definitively better. This is my first grow too, so I can't tell you anything from experience-- though I've been doing a ton of research as always. I'm using Grandma's unsulfured molasses-- which many here have recommended. Cheers bud.
