do we have any exterminators here?

Have you thought about going and finding where they are coming from? If you can find their colony then you can get rid of them at the source.
Just a thought.

yeah, i'd give me left nut, you know, the big one, to be able to find their colony so i could wipe them all out in one swift action, but for the life of me, i can't seem to locate it.. like i said, our home is rather old, and pretty big.. no mansion by a long shot, i just mean they have a pretty limitless area that they could hide and chill out in and never be seen..

i've even tried attatching my phone to one of their backs and turned on the gps and tried to follow the ant, but all i got was a horny ant hiding out in a corner, calling some sex phone line.. never again, now not only is my keyboard super sticky, ants must take forever and a day to get a nut off, you should have seen my damned phone bill that month.. :(

you could have "odorous" ants. they are usually small. crush one on your finger and smell it, it should have a distinct scent.

odorous ants share colonies. if you kill one colony, the next colony over will actually welcome them in.

little fuckers.

Yea, I kinda figured it was out of the question.. Would be hard to find unless you just happen to see them in a line on the way to the house.

just googled odorous ants, and that's pretty much what they look like to me ub.. kind of hard to get a pix with something in it to get a good judge of size, but the couple i did find, yupper, that sure as shit looks like the little fuckers..
i'll have to give one a sniff next time i have the pleasure of killing one of them..thanks for the identification, now at least i know what we're up against.. ;(

that's some plus rep right there, exactly what i was looking for.. tired of sprinkling cinnamon and pepper around the house, time to get hard core with these things..
i think i remember carne seca mentioning killing ants a few times awhile ago, but he's no longer around to ask..
thanks again for all the help buck, much appreciated, now it's time to annihilate these things and send them packing.. :D

umm, they do seem to pretty harmless, as in i haven't noticed them biting or anything, but eff me, who the hell wants ants in their house?? not me said the bee..

I get those little fuckers each spring.
Never saw such little ants, I get normal sized ants too.

Go to your Dollar General store, look in the pet section for boric acid.

Ants look for sugars or starches.
I take a little piece of a cookie and put a small amount of boric acid on it. Don't coat the whole thing.
Boric acid looks like a powder and is not a poison.

It acts like diatomaceous earth to the insects body, stabbing and drying it out.
With ants, they take the cookie back to the nest and some die but the word gets out
to stay away from the location.
They may show up in another place, repeat the process.

This works!

very sweet, thanks n and n.. :D
yeah, these things are so stupidly small, it's not even funny how small they are.. we don't get any normal sized ants in here, just these dumb ass things.. :( and yeah, i've notice that they absolutely love anything sugar.. might have spilled a bit of sugar here or there over the past few years, and that's when i'll notice them first. must be a few hundred of them on this tiny sugar spot i might have spilled..

oh yeah, i forgot to mention.. they seem to be at the worst like now, once it first starts to warm up like i've said, but they usually always seem to go away later in the summer, around the beginning of july or so. all but last year that is, last years they hung out all summer long, despite my best efforts to get rid of them.. :D
thanks again for all the tips and tricks. i'm on this.

They leave a piss trail for their buddies to follow.
I live in an old house too. The first time I saw them I couldn't believe my eyes.
It was like insects from a prehistoric time.

Theres a product called Gentrol. It works by preventing insects from growing from one stage in their life cycle to the next and the little buggers literally can't molt so they just kind of explode inside their own skins. It takes time to become really effective and it's cool to watch over time you'll just see ants with distorted looking bodies, that's how you know it's working, but you'll see less and less until they're all gone. It's the only insecticide I've ever used that was 100% effective and it spreads from one ant to the next by direct contact. It's safe for humans and animals. But you should do some reading on it before you get started so you know what you're dealing with. It can be bought online and it comes in a spray. It's supposed to work for a few years.
