DIY with Quantum Boards

Half way through chop and I thought I better post a pic while I some are still in the land of the living.
If all estimates are correct going on my usual wet-dry weight ratio I might just be hitting 1.6 GPW with this run.
Will be another PB for me and the quantum boards..... Gotta love HLG!
Will let all know final weight once dried and cured. Will be over 2lb from 2x 260w kits in that half of my 8x4 flower tent regardless.

Last pic is four blue dream on the COB side.
All others are part of one of the two I have left to still chop.
(incredible bulk)
Great work! Did you measure the light you were actually putting down on your plants to get 2+ pound from your 4x4?

Cheers.
Do you mean have I measured the light with a light meter? I have not done that, one day I will buy one though because I like toys.
Its 2x 260w kits which at the wall is 285w per kit though.
I did try and measure by eye once, it turned out to be blinding.. :bigjoint:

I only have a LUX meter. Cant bring myself to lay down $500ish for a top quality par meter. How high did you run the QBs from the canopy? Thanks.

Light is 2-3 above canopy.
4x4 tent
This kit can not be dimmed.. or I don't see an option anyway.
GL offers a dimmer for it.But ya gotta pay the $50 for the kit to be put together and tested in order to have the potentiometer(another $20 cost)installed as they test everything first.

This really isn't Quantum related ..... But , thought I would share.

I am always building stuff and decided to build a THOR HAMMER BONG.
Seen one on the internet that some guys were hitting and thought that was cool.
So I fabbed one up ....

There is a little more tweaking to it like adding a silicone mouthpiece that has a plug that holds strap for looks. Anyways here she is ....

How do you guys think quantum boards would do in a 10x10 room? I was about to pull the trigger on 48 luminous COBs w/ heatsinks but now that I see the QB288s are in stock I am intrigued. What if I ordered 32 of the QB288s w/ heatsinks and ran them at 2400ma for 125w...that's 4000w and should perform well in a room that size?

I have a 2x4 Tent and a 5x5 tent and a 10x13 room to play with so space is not an issue.
I already own a few lights and one of them is a Viparspectra 1200 Series (520w Draw) Dimmable.

So the abomination begins.... old with the new
I purchased the quantum 4x qb288 boards + slate 2 single heat sinks x 4 and plan to build a larger array using the Viparspectra as the center point in a RDWC setup.
With a HLG 600 54b driver
Hopefully this will help with the veg and the IR spectrum of the Viparspectra balancing out the spectrum just a bit more.

Really well..... That's 1000 watts per 5x5. I would use around 3000 total watts. That would be killer.

Is that 900grams just from the 2x 260w? I've got same set up in a 3.3x3.3 thats insane. I'd be over the moon with that. How long did you veg for?

Yeah, roughly 940grams it should end up been. From just the 2x 260w kits. These were vegged from clone for 7 weeks ish. I was trying to replicate a grow a while back which I pulled 2.2lb from my cob side (which is nearly 200w more power), so gave them extra veg time and supper cropped the shit out of them to fill the canopy better. :o
Normally I veg for 5 weeks from clone and haven't pulled less than 1.5lb from the Quantum board side. But like I say I was trying to really push it this run, seems to have worked!

Hey guys this may have been asked already but I didn't see it. So sorry if I'm asking shit that's already been answered.
I'm checking out the HLG 320xl and the HLG 300.
But why is the 320xl $450 and the 300w is $599?
Are the boards using newer better chips or something? It looks like the 300w kit is newer than the 320xl.

I have a fairly small grow box (1.5x2x3) for a personal stealth grow with 150w Mars reflector in it. It grows descent but gets fairly hot, so we know I can get more. I'm currently testing a cheap Growstar 150w epiled ufo with a 30w Cob but I don't think it will be much better (doesn't visually look brighter and it's loud yet marginally cooler). I just saw a 288 QB for 75 and after some reading, I'm thinking that's the way to go to take full advantage of my small space with less downsides (better light, less heat, less noise). I'm thinking, I can mount the driver outside of the the grow box for reduced heat if necessary.

My question is, can I use the drivers from the Mars reflector 150? There are two switches for flower and grow connected to 2 separate drivers (one driver is labeled 50w. The light claims a draw of 100w). Could I also use the heatsink that comes with the reflector (11.5x10)? Looks like I can screw off the led panels. There is also a driver connected to a 120mm fan. Would it be possible if necessary, to chain these drivers together for better 288QB support? Is 288 over kill for the mentioned space? Thanks for any insight.

As I'm sure you noticed the hlg300 comes with 2 288QB's and is an assembled fixture no assembly required except to mabey install the (included rope rachets (looks like 2 sets)
the hlg320xl uses the same boards as the hlg300 but the hlg320xl comes with 3 288QB's and a different driver to power the 3 boards. better buy IMO hookup is easy if you can strip a wire and twist a phlips head screw driver. the kits are complete with all you need to get a great working light (kits do not include rope ratchets) and less expensive than the prebuilt fixtures.

in order to use the driver I think more info is needed volts current and watts. i dont think anyone can honestly answer with just watts provided to know if they would be compatible.
for your space though I would use 2 or 3 of the hlg 65 fixtures
https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/collections/diy/products/hlg-65
no heatsink is needed on them whereas on the qb288's HLG recomends a heatsink if driven over 50watts.
